Markus 10
1 Und er machte sich auf und kam von dannen in die Örter des jüdischen Landes jenseit des Jordans. Und das Volk ging abermal mit Haufen zu ihm, und wie seine Gewohnheit war, lehrete er sie abermal.
On leaving that place, Jesus went into the district of Judea on the other side of the Jordan. Crowds gathered about him again; and again, as usual, he began teaching them.
2 Und die Pharisäer traten zu ihm und fragten ihn, ob ein Mann sich scheiden möge von seinem Weibe; und versuchten ihn damit.
Presently some Pharisees came up and, to test him, asked, “Has a husband the right to divorce his wife?”
3 Er antwortete aber und sprach: Was hat euch Mose geboten?
“What direction did Moses give you?” replied Jesus.
4 Sie sprachen: Mose hat zugelassen, einen Scheidebrief zu schreiben und sich zu scheiden.
“Moses,” they said, “permitted a man to draw up in writing a notice of separation and divorce his wife.”
5 Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Um eures Herzens Härtigkeit willen hat er euch solch Gebot geschrieben.
“It was owing to the hardness of your hearts,” said Jesus, “that Moses gave you this direction;
6 Aber von Anfang der Kreatur hat sie Gott geschaffen ein Männlein und Fräulein.
but, at the beginning of the Creation, ‘God made them male and female.’
7 Darum wird der Mensch seinen Vater und Mutter lassen und wird seinem Weibe anhangen,
‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother,
8 und werden sein die zwei ein Fleisch. So sind sie nun nicht zwei, sondern ein Fleisch.
and the man and his wife will become one;’ so that they are no longer two, but one.
9 Was denn Gott zusammengefüget hat, soll der Mensch nicht scheiden.
What God himself, then, has yoked together no one must separate.”
10 Und daheim fragten ihn abermal seine Jünger um dasselbige.
When they were indoors, the disciples asked him again about this,
11 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Wer sich scheidet von seinem Weibe und freiet eine andere, der bricht die Ehe an ihr.
and he said, “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman is guilty of adultery against his wife;
12 Und so sich ein Weib scheidet von ihrem Manne und freiet einen andern, die bricht ihre Ehe.
and, if the woman divorces her husband and marries another man, she is guilty of adultery.”
13 Und sie brachten Kindlein zu ihm, daß er sie anrührete. Die Jünger aber fuhren die an, die sie trugen.
Some of the people were bringing little children to Jesus, for him to touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who had brought them.
14 Da es aber Jesus sah, ward er unwillig und sprach zu ihnen: Laßt die Kindlein zu mir kommen und wehret ihnen nicht; denn solcher ist das Reich Gottes.
When, however, Jesus saw this, he was indignant. “Let the little children come to me,” he said, “do not hinder them; for it is to the childlike that the kingdom of God belongs.
15 Wahrlich, ich sage euch, wer das Reich Gottes nicht empfänget als ein Kindlein, der wird nicht hineinkommen.
I tell you, unless a person receives the kingdom of God like a child, they will not enter it at all.”
16 Und er herzete sie und legte die Hände auf sie und segnete sie.
Then he embraced the children, and, placing his hands on them, gave them his blessing.
17 Und da er hinausgegangen war auf den Weg, lief einer vorne vor, kniete vor ihn und fragte ihn: Guter Meister, was soll ich tun, daß ich das ewige Leben ererbe? (aiōnios g166)
As Jesus was resuming his journey, a man came running up to him, and threw himself on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to gain eternal life?” (aiōnios g166)
18 Aber Jesus sprach zu ihm: Was heißest du mich gut? Niemand ist gut denn der einige Gott.
“Why do you call me good?” answered Jesus. “No one is good but God.
19 Du weißest ja die Gebote wohl: Du sollst nicht ehebrechen. Du sollst nicht töten. Du sollst nicht stehlen. Du sollst nicht falsch Zeugnis reden. Du sollst niemand täuschen. Ehre deinen Vater und Mutter.
You know the commandments – ‘Do not kill. Do not commit adultery. Do not steal. Do not say what is false about others. Do not cheat. Honor your father and your mother.’”
20 Er antwortete aber und sprach zu ihm: Meister, das habe ich alles gehalten von meiner Jugend auf.
“Teacher,” he replied, “I have observed all these from my childhood.”
21 Und Jesus sah ihn an und liebte ihn und sprach zu ihm: Eines fehlet dir. Gehe hin, verkaufe alles, was du hast, und gib's den Armen, so wirst du einen Schatz im Himmel haben; und komm, folge mir nach und nimm das Kreuz auf dich.
Jesus looked at the man, and his heart went out to him, and he said, “There is still one thing wanting in you; go and sell all that you have, and give to the poor, and you will have wealth in heaven; then come and follow me.”
22 Er aber ward Unmuts über der Rede und ging traurig davon; denn er hatte viele Güter.
But the man’s face clouded at these words, and he went away distressed, for he had great possessions.
23 Und Jesus sah um sich und sprach zu seinen Jüngern: Wie schwerlich werden die Reichen in das Reich Gottes kommen!
Then Jesus looked around, and said to his disciples, “How hard it will be for people of wealth to enter the kingdom of God!”
24 Die Jünger aber entsetzten sich über seine Rede. Aber Jesus antwortete wiederum und sprach zu ihnen: Liebe Kinder, wie schwerlich ist's, daß die, so ihr Vertrauen auf Reichtum setzen, ins Reich Gottes kommen!
The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “My children, how hard a thing it is to enter the kingdom of God!
25 Es ist leichter, daß ein Kamel durch ein Nadelöhr gehe, denn daß ein Reicher ins Reich Gottes komme.
It is easier for a camel to get through a needle’s eye, than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
26 Sie entsetzten sich aber noch viel mehr und sprachen untereinander: Wer kann denn selig werden?
“Then who can be saved?” they exclaimed in the greatest astonishment.
27 Jesus aber sah sie an und sprach: Bei den Menschen ist's unmöglich, aber nicht bei Gott; denn alle Dinge sind möglich bei Gott.
Jesus looked at them, and answered, “With people it is impossible, but not with God; for everything is possible with God.”
28 Da sagte Petrus zu ihm: Siehe, wir haben alles verlassen und sind dir nachgefolget.
“But we,” began Peter, “we left everything and have followed you.”
29 Jesus antwortete und sprach: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, es ist niemand, so er verläßt Haus oder Brüder oder Schwestern oder Vater oder Mutter oder Weib oder Kinder oder Äcker um meinetwillen und um des Evangeliums willen,
“I tell you,” said Jesus, “there is no one who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or mother, or father, or children, or land, for my sake and for the good news,
31 Viele aber werden die Letzten sein, die die Ersten sind, und die Ersten sein, die die Letzten sind.
But many who are first now will then be last, and the last will be first.”
32 Sie waren aber auf dem Wege und gingen hinauf gen Jerusalem. Und Jesus ging vor ihnen; und sie entsetzten sich, folgeten ihm nach und fürchteten sich. Und Jesus nahm abermal zu sich die Zwölfe und sagte ihnen, was ihm widerfahren würde:
They were on the road going up to Jerusalem, with Jesus walking in front of them. The disciples were filled with awe, while those who were following behind were overwhelmed with fear. Gathering the Twelve around him once more, Jesus began to tell them what was about to happen to him.
33 Siehe, wir gehen hinauf gen Jerusalem, und des Menschen Sohn wird überantwortet werden den Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten; und sie werden ihn verdammen zum Tode und überantworten den Heiden.
“Listen!” he said. “We are going up to Jerusalem; and there the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the Law, and they will condemn him to death, and they will give him up to the Gentiles,
34 Die werden ihn verspotten und geißeln und verspeien und töten; und am dritten Tage wird er auferstehen.
who will mock him, spit on him, and scourge him, and put him to death; and after three days he will rise again.”
35 Da gingen zu ihm Jakobus und Johannes, die Söhne des Zebedäus, und sprachen: Meister, wir wollen, daß du uns tuest, was wir dich bitten werden.
James and John, the two sons of Zebedee, went to Jesus, and said, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”
36 Er sprach zu ihnen: Was wollt, ihr, daß ich euch tue?
“What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.
37 Sie sprachen zu ihm: Gib uns, daß wir sitzen, einer zu deiner Rechten und einer zu deiner Linken, in deiner HERRLIchkeit.
“Grant us this,” they answered, “to sit, one on your right, and the other on your left, when you come in glory.”
38 Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Ihr wisset nicht, was ihr bittet. Könnt ihr den Kelch trinken, den ich trinke, und euch taufen lassen mit der Taufe, da ich mit getauft werde?
“You do not know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup that I am to drink? Or receive the baptism that I am to receive?”
39 Sie sprachen zu ihm: Ja, wir können es wohl. Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Zwar ihr werdet den Kelch trinken, den ich trinke, und getauft werden mit der Taufe, da ich mit getauft werde;
“Yes,” they answered, “we can.” “You will indeed drink the cup that I am to drink,” Jesus said, “and receive the baptism that I am to receive,
40 zu sitzen aber zu meiner Rechten und zu meiner Linken, stehet mir nicht zu, euch zu geben, sondern welchen es bereitet ist.
but as to a seat at my right or at my left – that is not mine to give, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.”
41 Und da das die Zehn höreten, wurden sie unwillig über Jakobus und Johannes.
On hearing of this, the ten others were at first very indignant about James and John.
42 Aber Jesus rief sie und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr wisset, daß die weltlichen Fürsten herrschen, und die Mächtigen unter ihnen haben Gewalt.
But Jesus called the ten to him, and said, “Those who are regarded as ruling among the Gentiles lord it over them, as you know, and their great men oppress them.
43 Aber also soll es unter euch nicht sein, sondern welcher will groß werden unter euch, der soll euer Diener sein.
But among you it is not so. No, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
44 Und welcher unter euch will der Vornehmste werden, der soll aller Knecht sein.
and whoever wants to take the first place among you must be the servant of all;
45 Denn auch des Menschen Sohn ist nicht kommen, daß er sich dienen lasse, sondern daß er diene und gebe sein Leben zur Bezahlung für viele.
for even the Son of Man came, not be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
46 Und sie kamen gen Jericho. Und da er aus Jericho ging, er und seine Jünger und ein groß Volk, da saß ein Blinder, Bartimäus, des Timäus Sohn, am Wege und bettelte.
They came to Jericho. When Jesus was going out of the town with his disciples and a large crowd, Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside.
47 Und da er hörete, daß es Jesus von Nazareth war, fing er an zu schreien und zu sagen: Jesu, du Sohn Davids, erbarme dich mein!
Hearing that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to call out, “Jesus, Son of David, take pity on me.”
48 Und viele bedräueten ihn, er sollte stillschweigen. Er aber schrie viel mehr: Du Sohn Davids, erbarme dich mein!
Many of the people kept telling him to be quiet; but the man continued to call out all the louder, “Son of David, take pity on me.”
49 Und Jesus stund stille und ließ ihn rufen. Und sie riefen den Blinden und sprachen zu ihm: Sei getrost, stehe auf! Er rufet dich.
Then Jesus stopped. “Call him,” he said. So they called the blind man. “Have courage!” they exclaimed. “Get up; he is calling you.”
50 Und er warf sein Kleid von sich, stund auf und kam zu Jesu.
The man threw off his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.
51 Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Was willst du, daß ich dir tun soll? Der Blinde sprach zu ihm: Rabuni, daß ich sehend werde.
“What do you want me to do for you?” said Jesus, addressing him. “Rabboni,” the blind man answered, “I want to recover my sight.”
52 Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Gehe hin; dein Glaube hat dir geholfen. Und alsbald ward er sehend und folgte ihm nach auf dem Wege.
“You may go,” Jesus said, “Your faith has delivered you.” Immediately he recovered his sight, and began to follow Jesus along the road.
