Maleachi 2

1 Und nun, ihr Priester, dies Gebot gilt euch!

Now, therefore, for you, is this charge, O ye priests: —

2 Wo ihr's nicht höret noch zu Herzen nehmen werdet, daß ihr meinem Namen die Ehre gebet, spricht der HERR Zebaoth, so werde ich den Fluch unter euch schicken und euren Segen verfluchen, ja verfluchen werde ich ihn, weil ihr's nicht wollet zu Herzen nehmen.

If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory to my Name, saith Yahweh of hosts, then will I send among you the curse, and will curse your blessings, —and indeed I have cursed them, because ye are not at all laying it to heart.

3 Siehe, ich will schelten euch samt dem Samen und den Kot eurer Feiertage euch ins Angesicht werfen, und soll an euch kleben bleiben.

Behold me! threatening, on your account, the seed, and I will scatter refuse upon your faces, the refuse of your festivals, —and one shall carry you away unto it;

4 So werdet ihr dann erfahren, daß ich solch Gebot zu euch gesandt habe, daß es mein Bund sein sollte mit Levi, spricht der HERR Zebaoth.

So shall ye know that I sent unto you this charge, —as being my covenant with Levi, saith Yahweh of hosts.

5 Denn mein Bund war mit ihm zum Leben und Frieden; und ich gab ihm die Furcht, daß er mich fürchtete und meinen Namen scheuete.

My covenant, was with him, Life and Well-being, so I gave them to him—[I] as One to be revered— and he did revere me, — and, before my Name, dismayed, was he.

6 Das Gesetz der Wahrheit war in seinem Munde, und ward kein Böses in seinen Lippen funden. Er wandelte vor mir friedsam und aufrichtig und bekehrete viele von Sünden.

The deliverance of truth, was in his mouth, and, perverseness, was not found in his lips, — In well-doing and in uprightness, walked he with me, and, multitudes, did he turn from iniquity.

7 Denn des Priesters Lippen sollen die Lehre bewahren, daß man aus seinem Munde das Gesetz suche; denn er ist ein Engel des HERRN Zebaoth.

For, the lips of a priest, should keep knowledge, and, a deliverance, should men seek at his mouth, — for, the messenger of Yahweh of hosts, he is.

8 Ihr aber seid von dem Wege abgetreten und ärgert viele im Gesetz und habt den Bund Levis gebrochen, spricht der HERR Zebaoth.

But, ye, have departed out of the way, ye have caused multitudes to stumble at the deliverance, — ye have violated the covenant of Levi, saith Yahweh of hosts.

9 Darum hab ich auch euch gemacht, daß ihr verachtet und unwert seid vor dem ganzen Volk, weil ihr meine Wege nicht haltet und sehet Personen an im Gesetze.

Therefore, I also, will suffer you to be despised and of no account unto all the people, —in proportion as none of you have been keeping my ways, but have had respect to persons, in giving your deliverance.

10 Denn haben wir nicht alle einen Vater? Hat uns nicht ein Gott geschaffen? Warum verachten wir denn einer den andern und entheiligen den Bund, mit unsern Vätern gemacht?

Is there not, one Father, to us all? Did not, one GOD, create us? Wherefore should we deal treacherously one with another, profaning the covenant of our fathers?

11 Denn Juda ist ein Verächter worden, und in Israel und zu Jerusalem geschehen Greuel. Denn Juda entheiliget die Heiligkeit des HERRN, die er lieb hat, und buhlet mit eines fremden Gottes Tochter.

Judah, hath dealt treacherously, and, an abomination, hath been wrought in Israel, and in Jerusalem, — for Judah, had profaned, the holy place of Yahweh, which he had loved, and hath taken to himself the daughter of a foreign GOD.

12 Aber der HERR wird den, so solches tut, ausrotten aus der Hütte Jakobs, beide, Meister und Schüler, samt dem, der dem HERRN Zebaoth Speisopfer bringet.

May Yahweh, cut off, from the man that doeth it—him that crieth out and him that answereth, out of the tents of Jacob, — him also that bringeth near a present to Yahweh of hosts.

13 Weiter tut ihr auch das, daß vor dem Altar des HERRN eitel Tränen und Weinen und Seufzen ist, daß ich nicht mehr mag das Speisopfer ansehen noch etwas Angenehmes von euren Händen empfahen.

And, this, a second time, will ye do, covering with tears, the altar of Yahweh, weeping and making outcry, —because he will not again turn unto the gift, and receive [it] with acceptance, at your hands?

14 Und so sprechet ihr: Warum das? Darum, daß der HERR zwischen dir und dem Weibe deiner Jugend gezeuget hat, die du verachtest, so sie doch deine Gesellin und ein Weib deines Bundes ist.

Yet ye say, For what cause? Because, Yahweh, hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, with whom, thou, hast dealt treacherously, though, she, was thy consort, and thy covenant wife.

15 Also tat der Einige nicht und war doch eines großen Geistes. Was tat aber der Einige? Er suchte den Samen von Gott (verheißen). Darum so sehet euch vor vor eurem Geiste, und verachte keiner das Weib seiner Jugend!

Now was it not, One, [who] made [you] who had, the residue of the spirit? What, then, of that One? He was seeking a godly seed. Therefore should ye take heed to your spirit, and, with the wife of thy youth, do not thou deal treacherously.

16 Wer ihr aber gram ist, der lasse sie fahren, spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels, und gebe ihr eine Decke des Frevels von seinem Kleide, spricht der HERR Zebaoth. Darum so sehet euch vor vor eurem Geiste und verachtet sie nicht!

For he hateth divorce, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, him also who covereth with violence his own clothing, saith Yahweh of hosts, —therefore should ye take heed to your spirit, and not deal treacherously.

17 Ihr machet den HERRN unwillig durch eure Reden. So sprechet ihr: Womit machen wir ihn unwillig? Damit, daß ihr sprechet: Wer Böses tut, der gefällt dem HERRN, und er hat Lust zu demselbigen; oder: Wo ist der Gott, der da strafe?

Ye have wearied Yahweh with your words, and yet ye say, Wherein have we been wearisome? When ye have said, Everyone who doeth wrong, is right in the eyes of Yahweh, and, in them, he hath taken delight, or, Where is the God of justice?
