Lukas 18
1 Er sagte ihnen aber ein Gleichnis davon, daß man allezeit beten und nicht laß werden sollte,
He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up,
2 und sprach: Es war ein Richter in einer Stadt, der fürchtete sich nicht vor Gott und scheuete sich vor keinem Menschen.
saying, "There was a judge in a certain city who did not fear God, and did not respect people.
3 Es war aber eine Witwe in derselbigen Stadt, die kam zu ihm und sprach: Rette mich von meinem Widersacher!
A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, 'Give me justice against my adversary.'
4 Und er wollte lange nicht. Danach aber dachte er bei sich selbst: Ob ich mich schon vor Gott nicht fürchte, noch vor keinem Menschen scheue,
He would not for a while, but afterward he said to himself, 'Though I neither fear God, nor respect people,
5 dieweil aber mir diese Witwe so viel Mühe macht, will ich sie retten, auf daß sie nicht zuletzt komme und übertäube mich.
yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her justice, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.'"
6 Da sprach der HERR: Höret her, was der ungerechte Richter sagt!
The Lord said, "Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.
7 Sollte aber Gott nicht auch retten seine Auserwählten, die zu ihm Tag und Nacht rufen, und sollte Geduld darüber haben?
Won't God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?
8 Ich sage euch: Er wird sie erretten in einer Kürze. Doch wenn des Menschen Sohn kommen wird, meinest du, daß er auch werde Glauben finden auf Erden?
I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"
9 Er sagte aber zu etlichen, die sich selbst vermaßen, daß sie fromm wären, und verachteten die andern, ein solch Gleichnis:
He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others.
10 Es gingen zwei Menschen hinauf in den Tempel, zu beten, einer ein Pharisäer, der andere ein Zöllner.
"Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.
11 Der Pharisäer stund und betete bei ich selbst also: Ich danke dir, Gott, daß ich nicht bin wie die andern Leute: Räuber, Ungerechte, Ehebrecher oder auch wie dieser Zöllner.
The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: 'God, I thank you, that I am not like other people, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
12 Ich faste zweimal in der Woche und gebe den Zehnten von allem, was ich habe.
I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.'
13 Und der Zöllner stund von ferne, wollte auch seine Augen nicht aufheben gen Himmel sondern schlug an seine Brust und sprach: Gott, sei mir Sünder gnädig
But the tax collector, standing far away, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner.'
14 Ich sage euch: Dieser ging hinab gerechtfertiget in sein Haus vor jenem. Denn wer sich selbst erhöhet, der wird erniedriget werden; und wer sich selbst erniedriget, der wird erhöhet werden.
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."
15 Sie brachten auch junge Kindlein zu ihm daß er sie sollte anrühren. Da es aber die Jünger sahen, bedräueten sie die.
Now they were also bringing their babies to him, that he might touch them. But when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
16 Aber Jesus rief sie zu sich und sprach: Lasset die Kindlein zu mir kommen und wehret ihnen nicht; denn solcher ist das Reich Gottes.
Jesus summoned them, saying, "Allow the little children to come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
17 Wahrlich, ich sage euch, wer nicht das Reich Gottes nimmt als ein Kind, der wird nicht hineinkommen.
Truly, I tell you, whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it."
18 Und es fragte ihn ein Oberster und sprach: Guter Meister, was muß ich tun, daß ich das ewige Leben ererbe? (aiōnios g166)
A certain ruler asked him, saying, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit everlasting life?" (aiōnios g166)
19 Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Was heißest du mich gut? Niemand ist gut denn der einige Gott.
Jesus asked him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good, except one—God.
20 Du weißt die Gebote wohl: Du sollst nicht ehebrechen. Du sollst nicht töten. Du sollst nicht stehlen. Du sollst nicht falsch Zeugnis reden. Du sollst deinen Vater und deine Mutter ehren.
You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not give false testimony,' 'Honor your father and your mother.'"
21 Er aber sprach: Das habe ich alles gehalten von meiner Jugend auf.
And he said, "I have kept all these things from my youth up."
22 Da Jesus das hörete, sprach er zu ihm: Es fehlt dir noch eins. Verkaufe alles, was du hast, und gib's den Armen, so wirst du einen Schatz im Himmel haben; und komm und folge mir nach
When Jesus heard it, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have, and distribute it to the poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Come, follow me."
23 Da er das hörete ward er traurig; denn er war sehr reich.
But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.
24 Da aber Jesus sah, daß er traurig war worden, sprach er: Wie schwerlich werden die Reichen in das Reich Gottes kommen!
And Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into the Kingdom of God.
25 Es ist leichter, daß ein Kamel gehe durch ein Nadelöhr, denn daß ein Reicher in das Reich Gottes komme.
For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle's eye, than for a rich person to enter into the Kingdom of God."
26 Da sprachen, die das höreten: Wer kann denn selig werden?
Those who heard it said, "Then who can be saved?"
27 Er aber sprach: Was bei den Menschen unmöglich ist, das ist bei Gott möglich.
But he said, "The things which are impossible with man are possible with God."
28 Da sprach Petrus: Siehe, wir haben alles verlassen und sind dir nachgefolget.
And Peter said, "Look, we have left our own things and followed you."
29 Er sprach zu ihnen: Wahrlich ich sage euch es ist niemand, der ein Haus verlässet oder Eltern oder Brüder oder Weib oder Kinder um des Reichs Gottes willen,
He said to them, "Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the Kingdom of God's sake,
31 Er nahm aber zu sich die Zwölfe und sprach zu ihnen: Sehet, wir gehen hinauf gen Jerusalem, und es wird alles vollendet werden, was geschrieben ist durch die Propheten von des Menschen Sohn.
He took the twelve aside, and said to them, "Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be completed.
32 Denn er wird überantwortet werden den Heiden; und er wird verspottet und geschmähet und verspeiet werden;
For he will be delivered up to the non-Jews, will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit on.
33 und sie werden ihn geißeln und töten. Und am dritten Tage wird er wieder auferstehen.
They will scourge and kill him. On the third day, he will rise again."
34 Sie aber vernahmen der keines, und die Rede war ihnen verborgen, und wußten nicht, was das gesagt war.
They understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they did not understand the things that were said.
35 Es geschah aber, da er nahe zu Jericho kam, saß ein Blinder am Wege und bettelte.
It happened, as he came near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the road, begging.
36 Da er aber hörete das Volk, das hindurchging, forschete er, was das wäre.
Hearing a crowd going by, he asked what this meant.
37 Da verkündigten sie ihm, Jesus von Nazareth ginge vorüber.
They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
38 Und er rief und sprach: Jesu, du Sohn Davids, erbarme dich mein!
He called out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me."
39 Die aber vorne an gingen, bedräueten ihn, er sollte schweigen. Er aber schrie viel mehr: Du Sohn Davids, erbarme dich mein!
Those who led the way rebuked him, that he should be quiet; but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me."
40 Jesus aber stund stille und hieß ihn zu sich führen. Da sie ihn aber nahe zu ihm brachten, fragte er ihn
Standing still, Jesus commanded him to be brought to him. When he had come near, he asked him,
41 und sprach: Was willst du, daß ich dir tun soll? Er sprach: HERR, daß ich sehen möge.
"What do you want me to do?" He said, "Lord, that I may see again."
42 Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: Sei sehend! Dein Glaube hat dir geholfen.
Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you."
43 Und alsbald ward er sehend und folgete ihm nach und preisete Gott. Und alles Volk, das solches sah, lobete Gott.
And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, praised God.
