Josua 7
1 Aber die Kinder Israel vergriffen sich an dem Verbanneten; denn Achan, der Sohn Charmis, des Sohns Sabdis, des Sohns Serahs, vom Stamm Juda nahm des Verbanneten etwas. Da ergrimmete der Zorn des HERRN über die Kinder Israel.
But the children of Israel transgressed the commandment, and took to their own use of the anathema. For Achan the son of Charmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zare of the tribe of Juda, took something of the anathema: and the Lord was angry against the children of Israel.
2 Da nun Josua Männer aussandte von Jericho gen Ai, die bei Beth-Aven liegt, gegen dem Morgen vor Bethel, und sprach zu ihnen: Gehet hinauf und verkundschaftet das Land; und da sie hinaufgegangen waren und Ai verkundschaftet hatten,
And when Josue sent men from Jericho against Hai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east side of the town of Bethel, he said to them: Go up, and view the country: and they fulfilled his command, and viewed Hai.
3 kamen sie wieder zu Josua und sprachen zu ihm: Laß nicht das ganze Volk hinaufziehen, sondern bei zwei oder dreitausend Mann, daß sie hinaufziehen und schlagen Ai, daß nicht das ganze Volk sich daselbst bemühe, denn ihrer ist wenig.
And returning they said to him: Let not all the people go up, but let two or three thousand men go and destroy the city: why should all the people be troubled in vain against enemies that are very few?
4 Also zogen hinauf des Volks bei dreitausend Mann, und die flohen vor den Männern zu Ai.
There went up therefore three thousand fighting men: who immediately turned their backs,
5 Und die von Ai schlugen ihrer bei sechsunddreißig Mann und jagten sie vor dem Tor bis gen Sabarim und schlugen sie den Weg herab. Da ward dem Volk das Herz verzagt und ward zu Wasser.
And were defeated by the men of the city of Hai, and there fell of them six and thirty men: and the enemies pursued them from the gate as far as Sabarim, and they slew them as they fled by the descent: and the heart of the people was struck with fear, and melted like water.
6 Josua aber zerriß seine Kleider und fiel auf sein Angesicht zur Erde vor der Lade des HERRN bis auf den Abend, samt den Ältesten Israels, und warfen Staub auf ihre Häupter.
But Josue rent his garments, and fell flat on the ground before the ark of the Lord until the evening, both he and all the ancients of Israel: and they put dust upon their heads.
7 Und Josua sprach: Ach, HERR, HERR, warum hast du dies Volk über den Jordan geführet, daß du uns in die Hände der Amoriter gäbest, uns umzubringen? O daß wir wären jenseit des Jordans geblieben, wie wir angefangen hatten!
And Josue said: Alas, O Lord God, why wouldst thou bring this people over the river Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorrhite, and to destroy us? would God, we had stayed beyond the Jordan as we began.
8 Ach, mein HERR, was soll ich sagen, weil Israel seinen Feinden den Rücken kehret?
My Lord God, what shall I say, seeing Israel turning their backs to their enemies?
9 Wenn das die Kanaaniter und alle Einwohner des Landes hören so werden sie uns umgeben und auch unsern Namen ausrotten von der Erde. Was willst du denn bei deinem großen Namen tun?
The Chanaanites, and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it, and being gathered together will surround us and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do to thy great name?
10 Da sprach der HERR zu Josua: Stehe auf! Warum liegst du also auf deinem Angesicht?
And the Lord said to Josue: Arise, why liest thou flat on the ground?
11 Israel hat sich versündiget, und haben meinen Bund übergangen, den ich ihnen geboten habe; dazu haben sie des Verbanneten genommen und gestohlen und verleugnet und unter ihre Geräte geleget.
Israel hath sinned, and transgressed my covenant: and they have taken of the anathema, and have stolen and lied, and have hidden it among their goods.
12 Die Kinder Israel mögen nicht stehen vor ihren Feinden, sondern müssen ihren Feinden den Rücken kehren; denn sie sind im Bann, Ich werde fort nicht mit euch sein, wo ihr nicht den Bann aus euch vertilget.
Neither can Israel stand before his enemies, but he shall flee from them: because he is defiled with the anathema. I will be no more with you, till you destroy him that is guilty of this wickedness.
13 Stehe auf und heilige das Volk und sprich: Heiliget euch auf morgen! Denn also sagt der HERR, der Gott Israels: Es ist ein Bann unter dir, Israel; darum kannst du nicht stehen vor deinen Feinden, bis daß ihr den Bann von euch tut.
Arise, sanctify the people, and say to them: Be ye sanctified against tomorrow: for thus saith the Lord God of Israel: The anathema is in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thy enemies, till he be destroyed out of thee that is defiled with this wickedness.
14 Und sollt euch früh herzumachen, ein Stamm nach dem andern; und welchen Stamm der HERR treffen wird, der soll sich herzumachen, ein Geschlecht nach dem andern; und welches Geschlecht der HERR treffen wird, das soll sich herzumachen, ein Haus nach dem andern; und welch Haus der HERR treffen wird, das soll sich herzumachen, ein Hauswirt nach dem andern.
And you shall come in the morning every one by your tribes: and what tribe soever the lot shall find, it shall come by its kindreds and the kindred by its houses, and the house by the men.
15 Und welcher erfunden wird im Bann, den soll man mit Feuer verbrennen mit allem, das er hat, darum daß er den Bund des HERRN überfahren und eine Torheit in Israel begangen hat.
And whosoever he be that shall be found guilty of this fact, he shall be burnt with fire with all his substance, because he hath transgressed the covenant of the Lord, and hath done wickedness in Israel.
16 Da machte sich Josua des Morgens frühe auf und brachte Israel herzu, einen Stamm nach dem andern; und ward getroffen der Stamm Juda.
Josue, therefore, when he rose in the morning, made Israel to come by their tribes, and the tribe of Juda was found,
17 Und da er die Geschlechter in Juda herzubrachte, ward getroffen das Geschlecht der Serahiter. Und da er das Geschlecht der Serahiter herzubrachte, einen Hauswirt nach dem andern, ward Sabdi getroffen.
Which being brought by its families, it was found to be the family of Zare. Bringing that also by the houses, he found it to be Zabdi.
18 Und da er sein Haus herzubrachte, einen Wirt nach dem andern, ward getroffen Achan, der Sohn Charmis, des Sohns Sabdis, des Sohns Serahs, aus dem Stamm Juda.
And bringing his house man by man, he found Achan the son of Charmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zare of the tribe of Juda.
19 Und Josua sprach zu Achan: Mein Sohn, gib dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, die Ehre und gib ihm das Lob; und sage mir an, was hast du getan? und leugne mir nichts!
And Josue said to Achan: My son, give glory to the Lord God of Israel, and confess, and tell me what thou hast done, hide it not.
20 Da antwortete Achan Josua und sprach: Wahrlich, ich habe mich versündiget an dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels; also und also habe ich getan.
And Achan answered Josue, and said to him: Indeed I have sinned against the Lord the God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done.
21 Ich sah unter dem Rauhe einen köstlichen babylonischen Mantel und zweihundert Sekel Silbers und eine güldene Zunge, fünfzig Sekel wert am Gewichte; des gelüstete mich und nahm es. Und siehe, es ist verscharret in die Erde in meiner Hütte, und das Silber drunter.
For I saw among the spoils a scarlet garment exceeding good, and two hundred sides of silver, and a golden rule of fifty sides: and I coveted them, and I took them away, and hid them in the ground is the midst of my tent, and the silver I covered with the earth that I dug up.
22 Da sandte Josua Boten hin, die liefen zur Hütte; und siehe, es war verscharret in seiner Hütte, und das Silber drunter.
Josue therefore sent ministers: who running to his tent, found all hidden in the same place, together with the silver.
23 Und sie nahmen's aus der Hütte und brachten's zu Josua und zu allen Kindern Israel und schütteten's vor den HERRN.
And taking them away out of the tent, they brought them to Josue, and to all the children of Israel, and threw them down before the Lord.
24 Da nahm Josua und das ganze Israel mit ihm Achan, den Sohn Serahs, samt dem Silber, Mantel und güldenen Zunge, seine Söhne und Töchter, seine Ochsen und Esel und Schafe, seine Hütte und alles, was er hatte, und führeten sie hinauf ins Tal Achor.
Then Josue and all Israel with him took Achan the son of Zare, and the silver and the garments, and the golden rule, his sons also and his daughters, his oxen and asses and sheep, the tent also, and all the goods: and brought them to the valley of Achor:
25 Und Josua sprach: Weil du uns betrübet hast, so betrübe dich der HERR an diesem Tage! Und das ganze Israel steinigten ihn und verbrannten sie mit Feuer. Und da sie sie gesteiniget hatten,
Where Josue said: Because thou hast troubled us, the Lord trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him: and all things that were his, were consumed with fire.
26 machten sie über sie einen großen Steinhaufen, der bleibet bis auf diesen Tag. Also kehrete sich der HERR von dem Grimm seines Zorns. Daher heißt derselbe Ort das Tal Achor bis auf diesen Tag.
And they gathered together upon him a great heap of stones, which remaineth until this present day. And the wrath of the Lord was turned away from them. And the name of that place was called the Valley of Achor, until this day.
