Josua 24

1 Josua versammelte alle Stämme Israels gen Sichem und berief die Ältesten von Israel, die Häupter, Richter und Amtleute. Und da sie vor Gott getreten waren,

And he gathered Joshua all [the] tribes of Israel Shechem towards and he summoned [the] elders of Israel and leaders its and judges its and officials its and they presented themselves before God.

2 sprach er zum ganzen Volk: So sagt der HERR, der Gott Israels: Eure Väter wohneten vorzeiten jenseit des Wassers, Tharah, Abrahams und Nahors Vater, und dieneten andern Göttern.

And he said Joshua to all the people thus he says Yahweh [the] God of Israel on [the] other side of the river they dwelt ancestors your from long ago Terah [the] father of Abraham and [the] father of Nahor and they served gods other.

3 Da nahm ich euren Vater Abraham jenseit des Wassers und ließ ihn wandern im ganzen Lande Kanaan; und mehrete ihm seinen Samen und gab ihm Isaak.

And I took ancestor your Abraham from [the] other side of the river and I led him in all [the] land of Canaan (and I increased *Q(k)*) offspring his and I gave to him Isaac.

4 Und Isaak gab ich Jakob und Esau; und gab Esau das Gebirge Seir zu besitzen. Jakob aber und seine Kinder zogen hinab nach Ägypten.

And I gave to Isaac Jacob and Esau and I gave to Esau [the] mountain of Seir to take possession of it and Jacob and sons his they went down Egypt.

5 Da sandte ich Mose und Aaron und plagte Ägypten, wie ich unter ihnen getan habe.

And I sent Moses and Aaron and I struck Egypt just as I did in midst its and after I brought out you.

6 Danach führete ich euch und eure Väter aus Ägypten. Und da ihr ans Meer kamet, und die Ägypter euren Vätern nachjagten mit Wagen und Reitern ans Schilfmeer,

And I brought out fathers your from Egypt and you came the sea towards and they pursued Egypt after fathers your with chariotry and with horsemen [the] sea of reed[s].

7 da schrieen sie zum HERRN; der setzte eine Finsternis zwischen euch und den Ägyptern; und führete das Meer über sie und bedeckte sie. Und eure Augen haben gesehen, was ich in Ägypten getan habe. Und ihr habt gewohnet in der Wüste eine lange Zeit.

And they cried out to Yahweh and he put darkness between you - and between the Egyptians and he brought over it the sea and it covered it and they saw eyes your [that] which I did in Egypt and you dwelt in the wilderness days many.

8 Und ich habe euch gebracht in das Land der Amoriter, die jenseit des Jordans wohneten; und da sie wider euch stritten, gab ich sie in eure Hände, daß ihr ihr Land besaßet, und vertilgete sie vor euch her.

(And I brought *Q(K)*) you to [the] land of the Amorite[s] who dwelt on [the] other side of the Jordan and they fought with you and I gave them in hand your and you took possession of land their and I destroyed them from before you.

9 Da machte sich auf Balak, der Sohn Zipors, der Moabiter König, und stritt wider Israel und sandte hin und ließ rufen Bileam, dem Sohn Beors, daß er euch verfluchete.

And he arose Balak [the] son of Zippor [the] king of Moab and he fought against Israel and he sent and he summoned Balaam [the] son of Beor to curse you.

10 Aber ich wollte ihn nicht hören. Und er segnete euch; und ich errettete euch aus seinen Händen.

And not I was willing to listen to Balaam and he blessed continuously you and I delivered you from hand his.

11 Und da ihr über den Jordan ginget und gen Jericho kamet, stritten wider euch die Bürger von Jericho, die Amoriter, Pheresiter, Kanaaniter, Hethiter, Girgositer, Heviter und Jebusiter; aber ich gab sie in eure Hände.

And you passed over the Jordan and you came to Jericho and they fought against you [the] citizens of Jericho the Amorite[s] and the Perizzite[s] and the Canaanite[s] and the Hittite[s] and the Girgashite[s] the Hivite[s] and the Jebusite[s] and I gave them in hand your.

12 Und sandte Hornissen vor euch her; die trieben sie aus vor euch her, die zween Könige der Amoriter, nicht durch dein Schwert noch durch deinen Bogen.

And I sent before you the hornet and it drove out them from before you [the] two [the] kings of the Amorite[s] not by sword your and not by bow your.

13 Und habe euch ein Land gegeben, daran ihr nicht gearbeitet habt, und Städte, die ihr nicht gebauet habt, daß ihr drinnen wohnet und esset von Weinbergen und Ölbergen, die ihr nicht gepflanzet habt.

And I gave to you a land - which not you had labored for it and cities which not you had built and you dwelt in them vineyards and olive trees which not you had planted you [are] eating.

14 So fürchtet nun den HERRN und dienet ihm treulich und rechtschaffen; und lasset fahren die Götter, denen eure Väter gedienet haben jenseit des Wassers und in Ägypten, und dienet dem HERRN.

And therefore fear Yahweh and serve him in integrity and in faithfulness and remove [the] gods which they served ancestors your on [the] other side of the river and in Egypt and serve Yahweh.

15 Gefällt es euch aber nicht, daß ihr dem HERRN dienet, so erwählet euch heute, welchem ihr dienen wollet: dem Gott, dem eure Väter gedienet haben jenseit des Wassers, oder den Göttern der Amoriter, in welcher Land ihr wohnet. Ich aber und mein Haus wollen dem HERRN dienen.

And if is displeasing in view your to serve Yahweh choose for yourselves this day whom? will you serve! whether [the] gods which they served ancestors your who ([were] from [the] other side of *Q(K)*) the river and or [the] gods of the Amorite[s] whom you [are] dwelling in land their and I and household my we will serve Yahweh.

16 Da antwortete das Volk und sprach: Das sei ferne von uns, daß wir den HERRN verlassen und andern Göttern dienen!

And it answered the people and it said far be it to us from forsaking Yahweh to serve gods other.

17 Denn der HERR, unser Gott, hat uns und unsere Väter aus Ägyptenland geführet, aus dem Diensthause, und hat vor unsern Augen solche große Zeichen getan und uns behütet auf dem ganzen Wege, den wir gezogen sind, und unter allen Völkern, durch welche wir gegangen sind;

For Yahweh God our he [is] the [one who] brought up us and fathers our from [the] land of Egypt from a house of slaves and [the one] who he did to eyes our the signs great these and he kept us in all the way which we went in it and among all the peoples which we passed in midst their.

18 und hat ausgestoßen vor uns her alle Völker der Amoriter, die im Lande wohneten. Darum wollen wir auch dem HERRN dienen; denn er ist unser Gott.

And he drove out Yahweh all the peoples and the Amorite[s] [who] dwelt of the land from before us also we we will serve Yahweh for he [is] God our.

19 Josua sprach zum Volk: Ihr könnet dem HERRN nicht dienen; denn er ist ein heiliger Gott, ein eifriger Gott, der eurer Übertretung und Sünde nicht schonen wird.

And he said Joshua to the people not you will be able to serve Yahweh for [is] a God holy he [is] a God jealous he not he will forgive to transgression your and sins your.

20 Wenn ihr aber den HERRN verlasset und einem fremden Gott dienet, so wird er sich wenden und euch plagen und euch umbringen, nachdem er euch Gutes getan hat.

If you will forsake Yahweh and you will serve gods of foreignness and he will turn and he will do harm to you and he will make an end of you after that he has done good to you.

21 Das Volk aber sprach zu Josua: Nicht also, sondern wir wollen dem HERRN dienen.

And it said the people to Joshua In-deed Yahweh we will serve.

22 Da sprach Josua zum Volk: Ihr seid Zeugen über euch, daß ihr den HERRN euch erwählet habt, daß ihr ihm dienet. Und sie sprachen: Ja.

And he said Joshua to the people [are] witnesses you on yourselves that you you have chosen for yourselves Yahweh to serve him and they said witnesses.

23 So tut nun von euch die fremden Götter, die unter euch sind, und neiget euer Herz zu dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels.

And therefore remove [the] gods of foreignness which [are] in midst your and turn heart your to Yahweh [the] God of Israel.

24 Und das Volk sprach zu Josua: Wir wollen dem HERRN, unserm Gott, dienen und seiner Stimme gehorchen.

And they said the people to Joshua Yahweh God our we will serve and to voice his we will listen.

25 Also machte Josua desselben Tages einen Bund mit dem Volk und legte ihnen Gesetze und Rechte vor zu Sichem.

And he made Joshua a covenant to the people on the day that and he established for it a decree and a judgment at Shechem.

26 Und Josua schrieb dies alles ins Gesetzbuch Gottes; und nahm einen großen Stein und richtete ihn auf daselbst unter einer Eiche, die bei dem Heiligtum des HERRN war.

And he wrote Joshua the words these in [the] book of [the] law of God and he took a stone large and he set up it there under the oak which [was] at [the] sanctuary of Yahweh.

27 Und sprach zum ganzen Volk: Siehe, dieser Stein soll Zeuge sein zwischen uns, denn er hat gehöret alle Rede des HERRN, die er mit uns geredet hat; und soll ein Zeuge über euch sein, daß ihr euren Gott nicht verleugnet.

And he said Joshua to all the people here! the stone this it will become on us a witness for it it has heard all [the] words of Yahweh which he has spoken with us and it will become on you a witness lest you should deny! God your.

28 Also ließ Josua das Volk, einen jeglichen in sein Erbteil.

And he sent away Joshua the people everyone to own inheritance his.

29 Und es begab sich nach dieser Geschichte, daß Josua, der Sohn Nuns, der Knecht des HERRN, starb, da er hundertundzehn Jahre alt war.

And it was after the things these and he died Joshua [the] son of Nun [the] servant of Yahweh a son of one hundred and ten years.

30 Und man begrub ihn in der Grenze seines Erbteils, zu Thimnath Serah, die auf dem Gebirge Ephraim liegt von mitternachtwärts am Berge Gaas.

And people buried him in [the] territory of inheritance his at Timnath Serah which [is] in [the] hill country of Ephraim from [the] north of [the] mountain of Gaash.

31 Und Israel dienete dem HERRN, solange Josua lebte und die Ältesten, welche lange Zeit lebten nach Josua, die alle Werke des HERRN wußten, die er an Israel getan hatte.

And it served Israel Yahweh all [the] days of Joshua and all - [the] days of the old [men] who they made long days after Joshua and who they knew all [the] work of Yahweh which he had done for Israel.

32 Die Gebeine Josephs, welche die Kinder Israel hatten aus Ägypten gebracht, begruben sie zu Sichem in dem Stück Feldes, das Jakob kaufte von den Kindern Hemors, des Vaters Sichems, um hundert Groschen, und ward der Kinder Josephs Erbteil.

And [the] bones of Joseph which they had brought up [the] people of Israel - from Egypt they buried at Shechem in [the] portion of the field which he had bought Jacob from with [the] sons of Hamor [the] father of Shechem for a hundred piece[s] of money and they became of [the] descendants of Joseph an inheritance.

33 Eleasar, der Sohn Aarons, starb auch; und sie begruben ihn zu Gibea seines Sohns Pinehas, die ihm gegeben war auf dem Gebirge Ephraim.

And Eleazar [the] son of Aaron he died and people buried him at Gibeah of Phinehas son his which it had been given to him in [the] hill country of Ephraim.
