Johannes 7
1 Danach zog Jesus umher in Galiläa denn er wollte nicht in Judäa umherziehen, darum daß ihm die Juden nach dem Leben stelleten.
After these things Jesus resided in Galilee: for He would not appear in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill Him.
2 Es war aber nahe der Juden Fest, der Laubrüst.
Now the Jews feast called the feast of tabernacles was near;
3 Da sprachen seine Brüder zu ihm: Mache dich auf von dannen und gehe nach Judäa, auf daß auch deine Jünger sehen die Werke, die du tust.
his brethren therefore said, Depart from hence, and go into Judea, that thy disciples there also may see the works which thou performest.
4 Niemand tut etwas im Verborgenen und will doch frei offenbar sein. Tust du solches, so offenbare dich vor der Welt.
For no man doth any thing in secret, who is himself desirous to be known in public. As thou dost these wonderful things, make thyself known to the world.
5 Denn auch seine Brüder glaubten nicht an ihn.
For neither did his brethren believe in Him.
6 Da spricht Jesus zu ihnen: Meine Zeit ist noch nicht hier; eure Zeit aber ist allewege.
Then saith Jesus unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always alike ready; for the world cannot hate you:
7 Die Welt kann euch nicht hassen; mich aber hasset sie; denn ich zeuge von ihr, daß ihre Werke böse sind.
but me it hates, because I bear my testimony concerning it, that it's deeds are evil.
8 Gehet ihr hinauf auf dieses Fest. Ich will noch nicht hinaufgehen auf dieses Fest; denn meine Zeit ist noch nicht erfüllet.
Go ye up to this feast as soon as ye please; for I am not yet going up to it, because my time is not yet fully come.
9 Da er aber das zu ihnen gesagt, blieb er in Galiläa.
And after He had said these things unto them, He stayed a while in Galilee.
10 Als aber seine Brüder waren hinaufgegangen, da ging er auch hinauf zu dem Fest, nicht offenbarlich, sondern gleich heimlich.
But when his brethren were gone up, then He also went up to the feast, not in a public manner but as it were in private.
11 Da suchten ihn die Juden am Fest und sprachen: Wo ist der?
The Jews therefore sought for Him at the feast, and said, Where is He?
12 Und es war ein groß Gemurmel von ihm unter dem Volk. Etliche sprachen: Er ist, fromm. Die andern aber sprachen: Nein, sondern er verführet das Volk.
And there was much murmuring among the people concerning Him: for some said, He is a good man; others said, No: He deceiveth the people.
13 Niemand aber redete frei von ihm um der Furcht willen vor den Juden.
No one however spake openly in favor of Him, for fear of the Jews.
14 Aber mitten im Fest ging Jesus hinauf in den Tempel und lehrete.
But when it was now about the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
15 Und die Juden verwunderten sich und sprachen: Wie kann dieser die Schrift, so er sie doch nicht gelernet hat?
And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, who never learnt?
16 Jesus antwortete ihnen und sprach: Meine Lehre ist nicht mein, sondern des, der mich gesandt hat.
Jesus answered them and said, The doctrine that I teach is not mine, but his that sent me.
17 So jemand will des Willen tun, der wird innewerden, ob diese Lehre von Gott sei, oder ob ich von mir selbst rede.
If any man desire to do his will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
18 Wer von ihm selbst redet, der sucht seine eigene Ehre; wer aber suchet die Ehre des, der ihn gesandt hat, der ist wahrhaftig, und ist keine Ungerechtigkeit an ihm.
He, that speaketh from himself, seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh the glory of Him that sent him is true, and there is no imposture in him.
19 Hat euch nicht Mose das Gesetz gegeben? Und niemand unter euch tut das Gesetz. Warum suchet ihr mich zu töten?
Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you observeth the law? wherefore else do ye seek to kill me?
20 Das Volk antwortete und sprach: Du hast den Teufel; wer suchet dich zu töten?
The people answered and said, Thou art possessed by a demon: who seeketh to kill thee?
21 Jesus antwortete und sprach: Ein einiges Werk habe ich getan, und es wundert euch alle.
Jesus answered and said unto them, I performed one miracle on the sabbath, and ye are all amazed at it.
22 Mose hat euch darum gegeben die Beschneidung, nicht daß sie von Mose kommt, sondern von den Vätern; noch beschneidet ihr den Menschen am Sabbat.
Now Moses gave you the law of circumcision, (not that it is originally from Moses, but from the patriarchs, ) and ye circumcise even on the sabbath:
23 So ein Mensch die Beschneidung annimmt am Sabbat, auf daß nicht das Gesetz Mose's gebrochen werde, zürnet ihr denn über mich, daß ich den ganzen Menschen habe am Sabbat gesund gemacht?
if then a man receive circumcision on the sabbath-day, that the law of Moses may not be broken; are ye angry with me, because I made a man perfectly well on the sabbath-day?
24 Richtet nicht nach dem Ansehen sondern richtet ein recht Gericht!
Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgement.
25 Da sprachen etliche von Jerusalem: Ist das nicht der, den sie suchten zu töten?
Therefore some of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this He whom they seek to put to death?
26 Und siehe zu, er redet frei, und sie sagen ihm nichts. Erkennen unsere Obersten nun gewiß, daß er gewiß Christus sei?
and here He talketh openly, and they say nothing to Him: Do the rulers indeed know, that this is in truth the Messiah?
27 Doch wir wissen, von wannen dieser ist; wenn aber Christus kommen wird, so wird niemand wissen, von wannen er ist.
But we know whence this man is; whereas when Christ cometh, no one knoweth whence He is.
28 Da rief Jesus im Tempel, lehrete und sprach: Ja, ihr kennet mich und wisset, von wannen ich bin; und von mir selbst bin ich nicht kommen, sondern es ist ein Wahrhaftiger, der mich gesandt hat, welchen ihr nicht kennet.
Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, Ye both know me, ye say, and ye know whence I am: now I am not come of myself, but He that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
29 Ich kenne ihn aber; denn ich bin von ihm, und er hat mich gesandt.
But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He hath sent me.
30 Da suchten sie ihn zu greifen. Aber niemand legte die Hand an ihn; denn seine Stunde war noch nicht kommen.
They sought therefore to seize Him, but no one laid hand on Him, because his hour was not yet come.
31 Aber viele vom Volk glaubten an ihn und sprachen: Wenn Christus kommen wird; wird er auch mehr Zeichen tun, denn dieser tut?
And many of the people believed on Him, and said, When the Messiah cometh, will He do more miracles than this man hath done?
32 Und es kam vor die Pharisäer, daß das Volk solches von ihm murmelte. Da sandten die Pharisäer und Hohenpriester Knechte aus, daß sie ihn griffen.
Now the pharisees heard the people murmuring these things concerning Him: and they, with the chief priests, sent officers to seize Him.
33 Da sprach Jesus zu ihnen: Ich bin noch eine kleine Zeit bei euch, und dann gehe ich hin zu dem, der mich gesandt hat.
Therefore Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while I am to be among you, and then I shall go to Him that sent me.
34 Ihr werdet mich suchen und nicht finden; und da ich bin, könnet ihr nicht hinkommen.
Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am to be, ye cannot come.
35 Da sprachen die Juden untereinander: Wo will dieser hingehen, daß wir ihn nicht finden sollen? Will er unter die Griechen gehen, die hin und her zerstreuet liegen, und die Griechen lehren?
Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will He go, that we shall not find Him? will He go to them that are dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
36 Was ist das für eine Rede, daß er saget: Ihr werdet mich suchen und nicht finden, und: Wo ich bin, da könnet ihr nicht hinkommen?
What is the meaning of this speech, that He said, "Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am to be, ye cannot come?"
37 Aber am letzten Tage des Festes, der am herrlichsten war, trat Jesus auf, rief und sprach: Wen da dürstet, der komme zu mir und trinke!
And on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If any one thirst, let him come unto me and drink.
38 Wer an mich glaubet, wie die Schrift sagt, von des Leibe werden Ströme des lebendigen Wassers fließen.
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, rivers of living water shall flow from within him.
39 Das sagte er aber von dem Geist, welchen empfangen sollten, die an ihn glaubten; denn der Heilige Geist war noch nicht da, denn Jesus war noch nicht verkläret.
(This He spake of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive; for the holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)
40 Viele nun vom Volk, die diese Rede höreten, sprachen: Dieser ist ein rechter Prophet.
Many of the people therefore, when they heard this discourse, said, This is in truth a prophet.
41 Die andern sprachen: Er ist Christus. Etliche aber sprachen: Soll Christus aus Galiläa kommen?
Others said, This is the Messiah. But some said, Shall the Messiah come out of Galilee?
42 Spricht nicht die Schrift, von dem Samen Davids und aus dem Flecken Bethlehem, da David war, solle Christus kommen?
Hath not the Scripture said, that Christ cometh of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the town whence David was.
43 Also ward eine Zwietracht unter dem Volk über ihm.
So there was a division among the people about Him.
44 Es wollten aber etliche ihn greifen; aber niemand legte die Hand an ihn.
And some among them would have seized Him: but no one laid hands on Him.
45 Die Knechte kamen zu den Hohenpriestern und Pharisäern. Und sie sprachen zu ihnen: Warum habt ihr ihn nicht gebracht?
Then came the officers to the chief priests and pharisees, and they said, Why have ye not brought Him? and the officers answered,
46 Die Knechte antworteten: Es hat nie kein Mensch also geredet wie dieser Mensch.
Never man spake like this man.
47 Da antworteten ihnen die Pharisäer: Seid ihr auch verführet?
The pharisees therefore answered them, Are ye also deceived?
48 Glaubet auch irgendein Oberster oder Pharisäer an ihn?
have any of the rulers believed on Him, or of the pharisees?
49 Sondern das Volk, das nichts vom Gesetz weiß, ist verflucht.
but these people, who know not the law, are cursed.
50 Spricht zu ihnen Nikodemus, der bei der Nacht zu ihm kam, welcher einer unter ihnen war:
Upon this Nicodemus, (who came to Him by night)
51 Richtet unser Gesetz auch einen Menschen, ehe man ihn verhöret und erkennet, was er tut?
being one of them, saith to them, Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he hath done?
52 Sie antworteten und sprachen zu ihm: Bist du auch ein Galiläer? Forsche und siehe, aus Galiläa stehet kein Prophet auf.
They replied, Art thou also of Galilee? Search and see: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.
53 Und ein jeglicher ging also heim.
And every man went to his own house.
