Johannes 4
1 Da nun der HERR inneward, daß vor die Pharisäer kommen war, wie Jesus mehr Jünger machte und taufte denn Johannes
Therefore when the Lord knew, the pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2 (wiewohl Jesus selber nicht taufte, sondern seine Jünger),
(though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but his disciples, )
3 verließ er das Land Judäa und zog wieder nach Galiläa.
He left Judea, and departed again into Galilee.
4 Er mußte aber durch Samaria reisen.
And as He must pass through the country of Samaria, He came to a Samaritan city called Sichar,
5 Da kam er in eine Stadt Samarias, die heißt Sichar, nahe bei dem Dörflein, das Jakob seinem Sohne Joseph gab.
near the piece of ground which Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Es war aber daselbst Jakobs Brunnen. Da nun Jesus müde war von der Reise, setzte er sich also auf den Brunnen; und es war um die sechste Stunde.
And Jacob's well was there. Now Jesus was tired with his journey, and sat down at the well: and it was about the sixth hour of the day,
7 Da kommt ein Weib von Samaria, Wasser zu schöpfen. Jesus spricht zu ihr: Gib mir zu trinken!
when a woman of Samaria coming to draw water, Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 Denn seine Jünger waren in die Stadt gegangen, daß sie Speise kaufeten.
(For his disciples were gone away to the city to buy food.)
9 Spricht nun das samaritische Weib zu ihm: Wie bittest du von mir zu trinken, so du ein Jude bist und ich ein samaritisch Weib? (Denn die Juden haben keine Gemeinschaft mit den Samaritern.)
But the Samaritan saith unto Him, How is it that thou who art a Jew askest drink of me, who am a Samaritan? for the Jews have no friendly intercourse with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihr: Wenn du erkennetest die Gabe Gottes, und wer der ist, der zu dir sagt: Gib mir zu trinken, du bätest ihn, und er gäbe dir lebendiges Wasser.
Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith unto thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldst have asked of Him, and He would have given thee living water.
11 Spricht zu ihm das Weib: HERR, hast du doch nichts, damit du schöpfest, und der Brunnen ist tief; woher hast du denn lebendig Wasser?
The woman saith unto Him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: whence then hast thou the living water?
12 Bist du mehr denn unser Vater Jakob, der uns diesen Brunnen gegeben hat, und er hat daraus getrunken und seine Kinder und sein Vieh?
Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihr: Wer von diesem Wasser trinket, den wird wieder dürsten;
Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water, will thirst again;
15 Spricht das Weib zu ihm: HERR, gib mir dasselbige Wasser, auf daß mich nicht dürste, daß ich nicht herkommen müsse zu schöpfen.
The woman saith unto Him, Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw.
16 Jesus spricht zu ihr: Gehe hin, rufe deinen Mann und komm her!
Jesus saith unto her, Go call thine husband, and come hither.
17 Das Weib antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Ich habe keinen Mann. Jesus spricht zu ihr: Du hast recht gesagt: Ich habe keinen Mann.
The woman answered, I have no husband. Jesus saith unto her, Thou hast said right, I have no husband:
18 Fünf Männer hast du gehabt, und den du nun hast, der ist nicht dein Mann. Da hast du recht gesagt.
for thou hast had five husbands; and he, whom thou now hast, is not thy husband: this thou hast said true.
19 Das Weib spricht zu ihm: HERR, ich sehe, daß du ein Prophet bist.
The woman saith unto Him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Unsere Väter haben auf diesem Berge angebetet, und ihr saget, zu Jerusalem sei die Stätte, da man anbeten solle.
Our fathers worshipped on this mountain, and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus spricht zu ihr: Weib, glaube mir, es kommt die Zeit, da ihr weder auf diesem Berge noch zu Jerusalem werdet den Vater anbeten.
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the time is coming, when ye shall worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.
22 Ihr wisset nicht, was ihr anbetet; wir wissen aber was wir anbeten; denn das Heil kommt von den Juden.
Ye worship ye know not what; but we worship what we know: for salvation is from the Jews.
23 Aber es kommt die Zeit und ist schon jetzt, daß die wahrhaftigen Anbeter werden den Vater anbeten im Geist und in der Wahrheit; denn der Vater will auch haben, die ihn also anbeten.
But the time is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for the Father requireth such worshippers of Him.
24 Gott ist ein Geist, und die ihn anbeten, die müssen ihn im Geist und in der Wahrheit anbeten.
God is a spirit, and they that worship Him, must worship in spirit and truth.
25 Spricht das Weib zu ihm: Ich weiß, daß der Messias kommt, der da Christus heißt. Wenn derselbige kommen wird, so wird er's uns alles verkündigen.
Then saith the woman unto Him, I know that the Messiah, that is to say the Christ, is coming; and when He comes, He will tell us all things.
26 Jesus spricht zu ihr: Ich bin's, der mit dir redet.
Jesus saith unto her, I, who am talking to thee, am He.
27 Und über dem kamen seine Jünger, und es nahm sie wunder, daß er mit dem Weibe redete? Doch sprach niemand: Was fragest du? oder: Was redest du mit ihr?
And upon this came his disciples and wondered that He talked with the woman: (though none of them said, What dost thou seek? or, Why dost thou talk with her?)
28 Da ließ, das Weib ihren Krug stehen und ging hin in die Stadt und spricht zu den Leuten:
therefore the woman left her water-pot, and went away into the city,
29 Kommet, sehet einen Menschen, der mir gesagt hat alles, was ich getan habe, ob er nicht Christus sei.
and saith to the people, Come, see a man who hath told me all that ever I did; is not this the Christ?
30 Da gingen sie aus der Stadt und kamen zu ihm.
They therefore went out of the city, and came to Him.
31 Indes aber ermahneten ihn die Jünger und sprachen: Rabbi, iß!
In the mean time his disciples addressed Him, saying, Master, eat.
32 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Ich habe eine Speise zu essen, davon wisset ihr nicht.
But He said unto them, I have food to eat, which ye know not of.
33 Da sprachen die Jünger untereinander: Hat ihm jemand zu essen gebracht?
Therefore the disciples said one to another, Hath any one brought Him aught to eat?
34 Jesus spricht zu ihnen: Meine Speise ist die, daß ich tue den Willen des, der mich gesandt hat, und vollende sein Werk.
Jesus saith unto them, My food is to do the will of Him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35 Saget ihr nicht selber: Es sind noch vier Monden, so kommt die Ernte? Siehe, ich sage euch: Hebet eure Augen auf und sehet in das Feld; denn es ist schon weiß zur Ernte;
Do not ye say, it is yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, lift up your eyes, and see the fields, they are already white for harvest.
36 und wer da schneidet, der empfänget Lohn und sammelt Frucht zum ewigen Leben, auf daß sich miteinander freuen, der da säet und der da schneidet. (aiōnios g166)
And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth the fruit together unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together; (aiōnios g166)
37 Denn hier ist der Spruch wahr: Dieser säet, der andere schneidet.
for herein the saying is verified, that one soweth, and another reapeth,
38 Ich habe euch gesandt zu schneiden, das ihr nicht habt gearbeitet; andere haben gearbeitet, und ihr seid in ihre Arbeit kommen.
in as much as I have sent you to reap that on which ye have not laboured: others have laboured, and ye are entered into their labors.
39 Es glaubten aber an ihn viel der Samariter aus derselbigen Stadt um des Weibes Rede willen, welches da zeugete: Er hat mir gesagt alles, was ich getan habe.
And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on Him, because of what the woman said, testifying, He told me all that ever I did.
40 Als nun die Samariter zu ihm kamen, baten sie ihn, daß er bei ihnen bliebe. Und er blieb zwei Tage da.
Therefore when the Samaritans came to Him, they desired Him to stay with them: and He staid there two days.
41 Und viel mehr glaubeten um seines Worts willen
And many more believed on account of his own discourse:
42 und sprachen zum Weibe: Wir glauben nun hinfort nicht um deiner Rede willen; wir haben selber gehöret und erkannt, daß dieser ist wahrlich Christus, der Welt Heiland.
and said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of what thou hast spoken; for we ourselves have heard Him, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
43 Aber nach zwei Tagen zog er aus von dannen und zog nach Galiläa.
And after two days he departed thence, and went into Cana of Galilee.
44 Denn er selber, Jesus, zeugete, daß ein Prophet daheim nichts gilt.
For Jesus himself had testified that a prophet hath no honor in his own country.
45 Da er nun nach Galiläa kam, nahmen ihn die Galiläer auf, die gesehen hatten alles, was er zu Jerusalem auf dem Fest getan hatte. Denn sie waren auch zum Fest kommen.
And when He was come into Galilee, the Galileans received Him, having seen all that he did in Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went to the feast.
46 Und Jesus kam abermal gen Kana in Galiläa, da er das Wasser hatte zu Wein gemacht.
Therefore Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where He had made the water wine.
47 Und es war ein Königischer, des Sohn lag krank zu Kapernaum. Dieser hörete, daß Jesus kam aus Judäa in Galiläa, und ging hin zu ihm und bat ihn, daß er hinab käme und hülfe seinem Sohn; denn er war todkrank.
And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum: who, when he heard that Jesus was come out of Judea into Galilee, went to Him, and intreated Him, that he would come down and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.
48 Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: Wenn ihr nicht Zeichen und Wunder sehet, so glaubet ihr nicht.
Jesus therefore said unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders ye will not believe.
49 Der Königische sprach zu ihm: HERR, komm hinab, ehe denn mein Kind stirbt!
The nobleman saith unto Him, Lord, come down before my child die.
50 Jesus spricht zu ihm: Gehe hin, dein Sohn lebet. Der Mensch glaubete dem Wort, das Jesus zu ihm sagte, und ging hin.
Jesus saith unto him, Go, thy son is well. And the man believed what Jesus said unto him, and went his way.
51 Und indem er hinabging, begegneten ihm seine Knechte, verkündigten ihm und sprachen: Dein Kind lebet.
And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, Thy son is well.
52 Da forschete er von ihnen die Stunde, in welcher es besser mit ihm worden war. Und sie sprachen zu ihm: Gestern um die siebente Stunde verließ ihn das Fieber.
He inquired therefore of them the hour in which he grew better: and they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 Da merkte der Vater, daß es um die Stunde wäre, in welcher Jesus zu ihm gesagt hatte: Dein Sohn lebet. Und er glaubete mit seinem ganzen Hause.
So the father knew that it was in that same hour, in which Jesus said to him, Thy son is well. And he and his whole family believed.
54 Das ist nun das andere Zeichen, das Jesus tat, da er aus Judäa nach Galiläa kam.
This is the second miracle that Jesus wrought, upon coming out of Judea into Galilee.
