Johannes 21
1 Danach offenbarte sich Jesus abermal den Jüngern an dem Meer bei Tiberias. Er offenbarte sich aber also.
After this Jesus again manifested himself to the disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias. He manifested himself in this way:
2 Es waren beieinander Simon Petrus und Thomas, der da heißet Zwilling, und Nathanael von Kana, Galiläa, und die Söhne des Zebedäus und andere zwei seiner Jünger.
Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael (from Cana of Galilee), the sons of Zebedee, and two of Jesus' other disciples were together.
3 Spricht Simon Petrus zu ihnen: Ich will hin fischen gehen. Sie sprachen zu ihm: So wollen wir mit dir gehen. Sie gingen hinaus und traten in das Schiff alsbald; und in derselbigen Nacht fingen sie nichts.
Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with yoʋ.” So they immediately went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
4 Da es aber jetzt Morgen ward, stund Jesus am Ufer; aber die Jünger wußten nicht, daß es Jesus war.
When daybreak came, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not know it was Jesus.
5 Spricht Jesus zu ihnen: Kinder, habt ihr nichts zu essen? Sie antworteten ihm: Nein.
Jesus said to them, “Children, have you caught any fish to eat?” They answered him, “No.”
6 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Werfet das Netz zur Rechten des Schiffs, so werdet ihr finden. Da warfen sie und konnten's nicht mehr ziehen vor der Menge der Fische.
He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it and were unable to draw it in because of the large number of fish.
7 Da spricht der Jünger, welchen Jesus liebhatte, zu Petrus: Es ist der HERR! Da Simon Petrus hörete, daß es der HERR war, gürtete er das Hemd um sich (denn er war nackend) und warf sich ins Meer.
Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had taken it off) and plunged into the sea.
8 Die andern Jünger aber kamen auf dem Schiffe (denn sie waren nicht fern vom Lande, sondern bei zweihundert Ellen) und zogen das Netz mit den Fischen.
But the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards away.
9 Als sie nun austraten auf das Land sahen sie Kohlen geleget und Fische dar auf und Brot.
When they had gone ashore, they saw a charcoal fire there with a fish lying on it, and bread.
10 Sprich Jesus zu ihnen: Bringet her von den Fischen, die ihr jetzt gefangen habt.
Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”
11 Simon Petrus stieg hinein und zog das Netz auf das Land voll großer Fische, hundert und dreiundfünfzig. Und wiewohl ihrer so viel waren, zerriß doch das Netz nicht.
So Simon Peter went aboard and drew the net ashore, full of large fish, one hundred fifty-three of them. Although there were so many, the net had not torn.
12 Spricht Jesus zu ihnen: Kommt und haltet das Mahl! Niemand aber unter den Jüngern durfte ihn fragen: Wer bist du? Denn sie wußten, daß es der HERR war.
Then Jesus said to them, “Come eat breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are yoʋ?” because they knew it was the Lord.
13 Da kommt Jesus und nimmt das Brot und gibt's ihnen, desselbigengleichen auch die Fische.
Then Jesus came, took the bread, and gave it to them. He did likewise with the fish.
14 Das ist nun das dritte Mal, daß Jesus offenbaret ward seinen Jüngern, nachdem er von den Toten auferstanden ist.
This was now the third time that Jesus had been revealed to his disciples after he had been raised from the dead.
15 Da sie nun das Mahl gehalten hatten, spricht Jesus zu Simon Petrus: Simon Johanna, hast du mich lieber, denn mich diese haben? Er spricht zu ihm: Ja, HERR, du weißt, daß ich dich liebhabe. Spricht er zu ihm: Weide meine Lämmer!
When they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do yoʋ love me more than these?” Peter said to him, “Yes, Lord, yoʋ know that I care for yoʋ.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my lambs.”
16 Spricht er zum andernmal zu ihm: Simon Johanna, hast du mich lieb? Er spricht zu ihm: Ja, HERR, du weißt, daß ich dich liebhabe. Spricht er zu ihm: Weide meine Schafe!
Jesus said to him a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do yoʋ love me?” Peter said to him, “Yes, Lord, yoʋ know that I care for yoʋ.” Jesus said to him, “Tend my sheep.”
17 Spricht er zum drittenmal zu ihm: Simon Johanna, hast du mich lieb? Petrus ward traurig, daß er zum drittenmal zu ihm sagte: Hast du mich lieb? und sprach zu ihm: HERR, du weißt alle Dinge, du weißt, daß ich dich liebhabe. Spricht Jesus zu ihm: Weide meine Schafe.
Then Jesus said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do yoʋ care for me?” Peter was grieved that Jesus said to him the third time, “Do yoʋ care for me?” And he said to him, “Lord, yoʋ know everything; yoʋ know that I care for yoʋ.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.
18 Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage dir: Da du jünger warest, gürtetest du dich selbst und wandeltest, wo du hin wolltest; wenn du aber alt wirst, wirst du deine Hände ausstrecken, und ein anderer wird dich gürten und führen, wo du nicht hin willst.
Truly, truly, I say to yoʋ, when yoʋ were younger, yoʋ would dress yoʋrself and walk wherever yoʋ wanted to go; but when yoʋ grow old, yoʋ will stretch out yoʋr hands, and another will dress yoʋ and bring yoʋ where yoʋ do not want to go.”
19 Das sagte er aber, zu deuten, mit welchem Tode er Gott preisen würde. Da er aber das gesagt, spricht er zu ihm: Folge mir nach!
(He said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God.) After saying this, he said to Peter, “Follow me.”
20 Petrus aber wandte sich um und sah den Jünger folgen welchen Jesus liebhatte, der auch an seiner Brust am Abendessen gelegen war und gesagt hatte: HERR, wer ist's, der dich verrät?
Then Peter turned around and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them (the one who had leaned back on Jesus' chest at the supper and said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray yoʋ?”)
21 Da Petrus diesen sah, spricht er zu Jesu: HERR, was soll aber dieser?
When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about him?”
22 Jesus spricht zu ihm: So ich will, daß er bleibe, bis ich komme, was gehet es dich an? Folge du mir nach!
Jesus said to him, “If I wish for him to remain until I come, what is that to yoʋ? Yoʋ follow me!”
23 Da ging eine Rede aus unter den Brüdern: Dieser Jünger stirbt nicht. Und Jesus sprach nicht zu ihm: Er stirbet nicht, sondern: So ich will, daß er bleibe, bis ich komme, was gehet es dich an?
So the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not tell him that he would not die; he only said, “If I wish for him to remain until I come, what is that to yoʋ?”
24 Dies ist der Jünger, der von diesen Dingen zeuget und hat dies geschrieben; und wir wissen, daß sein Zeugnis wahrhaftig ist.
This is the disciple who is testifying about these things and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.
25 Es sind auch viel andere Dinge, die Jesus getan hat, welche, so sie sollten eins nach dem andern geschrieben werden, achte ich, die Welt würde die Bücher nicht begreifen, die zu beschreiben wären.
There are also many other things that Jesus did. If every one of them were to be written down, I suppose that not even the world itself would have room for the books that would be written. Amen.
