Jeremia 14
1 Dies ist das Wort, das der HERR zu Jeremia sagte von der teuren Zeit:
AND THE WORD OF THE LORD CAME TO JEREMIAS CONCERNING THE DROUGHT.
2 Juda liegt jämmerlich, ihre Tore stehen elend, es stehet kläglich auf dem Lande, und ist zu Jerusalem eine große Dürre.
Judea has mourned, and her gates are emptied, and are darkened upon the earth; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
3 Die Großen schicken die Kleinen nach Wasser; aber wenn sie zum Brunnen kommen, finden sie kein Wasser und bringen ihre Gefäße leer wieder. Sie gehen traurig und betrübt und verhüllen ihre Häupter,
And her nobles have sent their little ones to the water: they came to the wells, and found no water: and brought back their vessels empty.
4 darum daß die Erde lechzet, weil es nicht regnet auf die Erde. Die Ackerleute gehen traurig und verhüllen ihre Häupter.
And the labours of the land failed, because there was no rain: the husbandmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.
5 Denn auch die Hinden, so auf dem Felde werfen, verlassen die Jungen, weil kein Gras wächst.
And hinds calved in the field, and forsook [it], because there was no grass.
6 Das Wild stehet auf den Hügeln und schnappet nach der Luft, wie die Drachen, und verschmachtet, weil kein Kraut wächst.
The wild asses stood by the forests, and snuffed up the wind; their eyes failed, because there was no grass.
7 Ach, HERR, unsere Missetaten haben's ja verdienet; aber hilf doch um deines Namens willen; denn unser Ungehorsam ist groß, damit wir wider dich gesündiget haben.
Our sins have risen up against us: O Lord, do you for us for your own sake; for our sins are many before you; for we have sinned against you.
8 Du bist der Trost Israels und ihr Nothelfer; warum stellest du dich, als wärest du ein Gast im Lande, und als ein Fremder, der nur über Nacht drinnen bleibt?
O Lord, [you are] the hope of Israel, and deliver [us] in time of troubles; why are you become as a sojourner upon the land, or as one born in the land, yet turning aside for a resting-place?
9 Warum stellest du dich als ein Held, der verzagt ist, und als ein Riese, der nicht helfen kann? Du bist doch ja unter uns, HERR, und wir heißen nach deinem Namen; verlaß uns nicht!
Will you be as a man asleep, or as a [strong] man that can’t save? yet you are amongst us, O Lord, and your name is called upon us; forget us not.
10 So spricht der HERR von diesem Volk: Sie laufen gerne hin und wieder und bleiben nicht gerne daheim; darum will ihrer der HERR nicht, sondern er denkt nun an ihre Missetat und will ihre Sünden heimsuchen.
Thus says the Lord to this people, They have loved to wander, and they have not spared, therefore God has not prospered them; now will he remember their iniquity.
11 Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Du sollst nicht für dies Volk um Gnade bitten.
And the Lord said to me, Pray not for this people for [their] good:
12 Denn ob sie gleich fasten, so will ich doch ihr Flehen nicht hören; und ob sie Brandopfer und Speisopfer bringen, so gefallen sie mir doch nicht, sondern ich will sie mit dem Schwert, Hunger und Pestilenz aufreiben.
for though they fast, I will not hear their supplication; and though they offer whole burnt offerings and sacrifices, I will take no pleasure in them: for I will consume them with sword, and with famine, and with pestilence.
13 Da sprach ich: Ach, HERR HERR, siehe, die Propheten sagen ihnen: Ihr werdet kein Schwert sehen und keine Teurung bei euch haben, sondern ich will euch guten Frieden geben an diesem Ort.
And I said, O [ever] living Lord! behold, their prophets prophesy, and say, You shall not see a sword, nor shall famine be amongst you; for I will give truth and peace on the land, and in this place.
14 Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Die Propheten weissagen falsch in meinem Namen; ich habe sie nicht gesandt und ihnen nichts befohlen und nichts mit ihnen geredet; sie predigen euch falsche Gesichte, Deutung, Abgötterei und ihres Herzens Trügerei.
Then the Lord said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, and I commanded them not, and I spoke not to them: for they prophesy to you false visions, and divinations, and auguries, and devices of their own heart.
15 Darum so spricht der HERR von den Propheten, die in meinem Namen weissagen, so ich sie doch nicht gesandt habe, und sie dennoch predigen, es werde kein Schwert noch Teurung in dies Land kommen: Solche Propheten sollen sterben durch Schwert und Hunger.
Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the prophets that prophesy lies in my name, and I sent them not, who say, Sword and famine shall not be upon this land; they shall die by a grievous death, and the prophets shall be consumed by famine.
16 Und das Volk, dem sie weissagen, sollen vom Schwert und Hunger auf den Gassen zu Jerusalem hin und her liegen, daß sie niemand begraben wird; also auch ihre Weiber, Söhne und Töchter; und will ihre Bosheit über sie schütten.
And the people to whom they prophesy, they also shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem, because of the sword and famine; and there shall be none to bury them: their wives also, and their sons, and their daughters [shall die thus]; and I will pour out their wickedness upon them.
17 Und du sollst zu ihnen sagen dies Wort: Meine Augen fließen mit Tränen Tag und Nacht und hören nicht auf; denn die Jungfrau, die Tochter meines Volks, ist greulich zerplagt und jämmerlich geschlagen.
And you shall speak this word to them; Let your eyes shed tears day and night, and let them not cease: for the daughter of my people has been sorely bruised, and her plague is very grievous.
18 Gehe ich hinaus aufs Feld, siehe, so liegen da Erschlagene mit dem Schwert; komme ich in die Stadt, so liegen da vor Hunger Verschmachtete. Denn es müssen auch die Propheten, dazu auch die Priester, in ein Land ziehen, das sie nicht kennen.
If I go forth into the plain, then behold the slain by the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold the distress of famine! for priest and prophet have gone to a land which they knew not.
19 Hast du denn Juda verworfen, oder hat deine Seele einen Ekel an Zion? Warum hast du uns denn so geschlagen, daß uns niemand heilen kann? Wir hofften, es sollte Friede werden, so kommt nichts Gutes; wir hofften, wir sollten heil werden, aber siehe, so ist mehr Schadens da.
Hast you utterly rejected Juda? and has your soul departed from Sion? therefore has you struck us, and there is no healing for us? we waited for peace, but there was no prosperity; for a time of healing, and behold trouble!
20 HERR, wir erkennen unser gottlos Wesen und unserer Väter Missetat; denn wir haben wider dich gesündiget.
We know, O Lord, our sins, [and] the iniquities of our fathers: for we have sinned before you.
21 Aber um deines Namens willen laß uns nicht geschändet werden; laß den Thron deiner HERRLIchkeit nicht verspottet werden; gedenke doch und laß deinen Bund mit uns nicht aufhören!
Refrain for your name's sake, destroy not the throne of your glory: remember, break not your covenant with us.
22 Es ist doch ja unter der Heiden Götzen keiner, der Regen könnte geben; so kann der Himmel auch nicht regnen. Du bist doch ja der HERR, unser Gott, auf den wir hoffen; denn du kannst solches alles tun.
Is there any one amongst the idols of the Gentiles that can give rain? and will the sky yield his fulness [at their bidding]? Are not you he? we will even wait on you, O Lord: for you have made all these things.
