Habakuk 2
1 Hie stehe ich auf meiner Hut und trete auf meine Feste und schaue und sehe zu, was mir gesagt werde, und was ich antworten solle dem, der mich schilt.
I will stand upon my watch, and fix my foot upon the tower: and I will watch, to see what will be said to me, and what I may answer to him that reproveth me.
2 Der HERR aber antwortet mir und spricht: Schreibe das Gesicht und male es auf eine Tafel, daß es lesen könne, wer vorüberläuft (nämlich also):
And the Lord answered me, and said: Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables: that he that readeth it may run over it.
3 Die Weissagung wird ja noch erfüllet werden zu seiner Zeit und wird endlich frei an Tag kommen und nicht außen bleiben. Ob sie aber verzeucht, so harre ihrer; sie wird gewißlich kommen und nicht verziehen.
For as yet the vision is far off, and it shall appear at the end, and shall not lie: if it make any delay, wait for it: for it shall surely come, and it shall not be slack.
4 Siehe, wer halsstarrig ist, der wird keine Ruhe in seinem Herzen haben; denn der Gerechte lebet seines Glaubens.
Behold, he that is unbelieving, his soul shall not be right in himself: but the just shall live in his faith.
5 Aber der Wein betrügt den stolzen Mann, daß er nicht bleiben kann, welcher seine Seele aufsperret wie die Hölle, und ist gerade wie der Tod, der nicht zu sättigen ist, sondern rafft zu sich alle Heiden und sammelt zu sich alle Völker. (Sheol h7585)
And as wine deceiveth him that drinketh it: so shall the proud man be, and he shall not be honoured: who hath enlarged his desire like hell: and is himself like death, and he is never satisfied: but will gather together unto him all nations, and heap together unto him all people. (Sheol h7585)
6 Was gilt's aber? Dieselbigen alle werden einen Spruch von ihm machen und eine Sage und Sprichwort und werden sagen: Wehe dem, der sein Gut mehret mit fremdem Gut! Wie lange wird's währen? und ladet nur viel Schlammes auf sich.
Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a dark speech concerning him: and it shall be said: Woe to him that heapeth together that which is not his own? how long also doth he load himself with thick clay?
7 O wie plötzlich werden aufwachen, die dich beißen, und erwachen, die dich wegstoßen! Und du mußt ihnen zuteil werden.
Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee: and they be stirred up that shall tear thee, and thou shalt be a spoil to them?
8 Denn du hast viel Heiden geraubt; so werden dich wieder rauben alle übrigen von den Völkern um der Menschen Bluts willen und um des Frevels willen, im Lande und in der Stadt und an allen, die drinnen wohnen, begangen.
Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all that shall be left of the people shall spoil thee: because of men’s blood, and for the iniquity of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
9 Wehe dem, der da geizet zum Unglück seines Hauses, auf daß er sein Nest in die Höhe lege, daß er dem Unfall entrinne!
Woe to him that gathereth together an evil covetousness to his house, that his nest may be on high, and thinketh he may be delivered out of the hand of evil.
10 Aber dein Ratschlag wird zur Schande deines Hauses geraten; denn du hast zu viel Völker zerschlagen und hast mit allem Mutwillen gesündiget.
Thou hast devised confusion to thy house, thou hast cut off many people, and thy soul hath sinned.
11 Denn auch die Steine in der Mauer werden schreien, und die Balken am Gesperre werden ihnen antworten.
For the stone shall cry out of the wall: and the timber that is between the joints of the building, shall answer.
12 Wehe dem, der die Stadt mit Blut bauet und zurichtet die Stadt mit Unrecht!
Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and prepareth a city by iniquity.
13 Ist's nicht also, daß vom HERRN Zebaoth geschehen wird? Was dir die Völker gearbeitet haben, muß mit Feuer verbrennen, und daran die Leute müde worden sind, muß verloren sein.
Are not these things from the Lord of hosts? for the people shall labour in a great fire: and the nations in vain, and they shall faint.
14 Denn die Erde wird voll werden von Erkenntnis der Ehre des HERRN, wie Wasser, das das Meer bedeckt.
For the earth shall be filled, that men may know the glory of the Lord, as waters covering the sea.
15 Wehe dir, der du deinem Nächsten einschenkest und mischest deinen Grimm darunter und trunken machest, daß du seine Scham sehest!
Woe to him that giveth drink to his friend, and presenteth his gall, and maketh him drunk, that he may behold his nakedness.
16 Man wird dich auch sättigen mit Schande für Ehre. So saufe du nun auch, daß du taumelst; denn dich wird umgeben der Kelch in der Rechten des HERRN, und mußt schändlich speien für deine HERRLIchkeit.
Thou art filled with shame instead of glory: drink thou also, and fall fast asleep: the cup of the right hand of the Lord shall compass thee, and shameful vomiting shall be on thy glory.
17 Denn der Frevel, am Libanon begangen, wird dich überfallen, und die verstörten Tiere werden dich schrecken um der Menschen Bluts willen und um des Frevels willen, im Lande und in der Stadt und an allen, die drinnen wohnen, begangen.
For the iniquity of Libanus shall cover thee, and the ravaging of beasts shall terrify them because of the blood of men, and the iniquity of the land, and of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
18 Was wird dann helfen das Bild, das sein Meister gebildet hat, und das falsche gegossene Bild, darauf sich verläßt sein Meister, daß er stumme Götzen machte?
What doth the graven thing avail, because the maker thereof hath graven it, a molten, and a false image? because the forger thereof hath trusted in a thing of his own forging, to make dumb idols.
19 Wehe dem, der zum Holz spricht: Wache auf! und zum stummen Stein: Stehe auf! Wie sollt es lehren? Siehe, es ist mit Gold und Silber überzogen, und ist kein Odem in ihm.
Woe to him that saith to wood: Awake: to the dumb stone: Arise: can it teach? Behold, it is laid over with gold, and silver, and there is no spirit in the bowels thereof.
20 Aber der HERR ist in seinem heiligen Tempel. Es sei vor ihm stille alle Welt!
But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.
