1 Mose 27
1 Und es begab sich, da Isaak war alt worden, daß seine Augen dunkel wurden zu sehen, rief er Esau, seinem größern Sohn, und sprach zu ihm: Mein Sohn! Er aber antwortete ihm: Hie bin ich.
And it came to pass when Isaac had become old, and his eyes were dim so that he could not see, that he called Esau his elder son, and said to him, My son! And he said to him, Here am I.
2 Und er sprach: Siehe, ich bin alt worden und weiß nicht, wann ich sterben soll.
And he said, Behold now, I am become old; I know not the day of my death.
3 So nimm nun deinen Zeug, Köcher und Bogen, und gehe aufs Feld und fahe mir ein Wildbret
And now, I pray thee, take thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field and hunt me venison,
4 und mache mir ein Essen, wie ich's gerne habe, und bringe mir's herein, daß ich esse, daß dich meine Seele segne, ehe ich sterbe.
and prepare me a savoury dish such as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, in order that my soul may bless thee before I die.
5 Rebekka aber hörete solche Worte, die Isaak zu seinem Sohne Esau sagte. Und Esau ging hin aufs Feld, daß er ein Wildbret jagte und heimbrächte.
And Rebecca heard when Isaac spoke to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt venison, to bring it.
6 Da sprach Rebekka zu Jakob, ihrem Sohn: Siehe, ich habe gehöret deinen Vater reden mit Esau, deinem Bruder, und sagen:
And Rebecca spoke to Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak to Esau thy brother, saying,
7 Bringe mir ein Wildbret und mache mir ein Essen, daß ich esse und dich segne vor dem HERRN, ehe ich sterbe.
Bring me venison, and prepare me a savoury dish, that I may eat, and bless thee before Jehovah, before my death.
8 So höre nun, mein Sohn, meine Stimme, was ich dich heiße.
And now, my son, hearken to my voice in that which I command thee.
9 Gehe hin zu der Herde und hole mir zwei gute Böcklein, daß ich deinem Vater ein Essen davon mache, wie er's gerne hat.
Go, I pray thee, to the flock, and fetch me thence two good kids of the goats. And I will make of them a savoury dish for thy father, such as he loves.
10 Das sollst du deinem Vater hineintragen, daß er esse, auf daß er dich segne vor seinem Tode.
And thou shalt bring [it] to thy father, that he may eat, in order that he may bless thee before his death.
11 Jakob aber sprach zu seiner Mutter Rebekka: Siehe, mein Bruder Esau ist rauch und ich glatt;
And Jacob said to Rebecca his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man.
12 so möchte vielleicht mein Vater mich begreifen, und würde vor ihm geachtet, als ob ich ihn betrügen wollte, und brächte über mich einen Fluch und nicht einen Segen.
My father perhaps will feel me, and I shall be in his sight as one who mocks [him], and I shall bring a curse on me, and not a blessing.
13 Da sprach seine Mutter zu ihm: Der Fluch sei auf mir, mein Sohn; gehorche nur meiner Stimme, gehe und hole mir.
And his mother said to him, On me [be] thy curse, my son! Only hearken to my voice, and go, fetch [them].
14 Da ging er hin und holete und brachte seiner Mutter. Da machte seine Mutter ein Essen, wie sein Vater gerne hatte,
And he went, and fetched and brought [them] to his mother. And his mother prepared a savoury dish such as his father loved.
15 und nahm Esaus, ihres größern Sohnes, köstliche Kleider, die sie bei sich im Hause hatte, und zog sie Jakob an, ihrem kleinem Sohn;
And Rebecca took the clothes of her elder son Esau, the costly ones which were with her in the house, and put them on Jacob her younger son;
16 aber die Felle von den Böcklein tat sie ihm um seine Hände, und wo er glatt war am Halse.
and she put the skins of the kids of the goats on his hands, and on the smooth of his neck;
17 Und gab also das Essen mit Brot, wie sie es gemacht hatte, in Jakobs Hand, ihres Sohnes.
and she gave the savoury dishes and the bread that she had prepared into the hand of her son Jacob.
18 Und er ging hinein zu seinem Vater und sprach: Mein Vater! Er antwortete: Hie bin ich. Wer bist du, mein Sohn?
And he came to his father, and said, My father! And he said, Here am I: who art thou, my son?
19 Jakob sprach zu seinem Vater: Ich bin Esau, dein erstgeborener Sohn; ich habe getan, wie du mir gesagt hast. Stehe auf, setze dich und iß von meinem Wildbret, auf daß mich deine Seele segne.
And Jacob said to his father, I am Esau, thy firstborn. I have done according as thou didst say to me. Arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, in order that thy soul may bless me.
20 Isaak aber sprach zu seinem Sohn: Mein Sohn, wie hast du so bald funden? Er antwortete: Der HERR, dein Gott, bescherte mir's.
And Isaac said to his son, How is it that thou hast found [it] so quickly, my son? And he said, Because Jehovah thy God put [it] in my way.
21 Da sprach Isaak zu Jakob: Tritt herzu, mein Sohn, daß ich dich begreife, ob du seiest mein Sohn Esau, oder nicht.
And Isaac said to Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be really my son Esau or not.
22 Also trat Jakob zu seinem Vater Isaak; und da er ihn begriffen hatte, sprach er: Die Stimme ist Jakobs Stimme, aber die Hände sind Esaus Hände.
And Jacob drew near to Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.
23 Und er kannte ihn nicht, denn seine Hände waren rauch, wie Esaus, seines Bruders, Hände, und segnete ihn.
And he did not discern him, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau's hands; and he blessed him.
24 Und er sprach zu ihm: Bist du mein Sohn Esau? Er antwortete: Ja, ich bin's.
And he said, Art thou really my son Esau? And he said, It is I.
25 Da sprach er: So bringe mir her, mein Sohn, zu essen von deinem Wildbret, daß dich meine Seele segne. Da brachte er's ihm, und er aß; und trug ihm auch Wein hinein, und er trank.
And he said, Bring [it] near to me, that I may eat of my son's venison, in order that my soul may bless thee. And he brought [it] near to him, and he ate; and he brought him wine, and he drank.
26 Und Isaak, sein Vater, sprach zu ihm: Komm her und küsse mich, mein Sohn!
And his father Isaac said to him, Come near, now, and kiss me, my son.
27 Er trat hinzu und küssete ihn. Da roch er den Geruch seiner Kleider; und segnete ihn und sprach: Siehe, der Geruch meines Sohnes ist wie ein Geruch des Feldes, das der HERR gesegnet hat.
And he came near, and kissed him. And he smelt the smell of his clothes, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which Jehovah hath blessed.
28 Gott gebe dir vom Tau des Himmels und von der Fettigkeit der Erde und Korn und Weins die Fülle.
And God give thee of the dew of heaven, And of the fatness of the earth, And plenty of corn and new wine.
29 Völker müssen dir dienen, und Leute müssen dir zu Fuße fallen. Sei ein HERR über deine Brüder, und deiner Mutter Kinder müssen dir zu Fuße fallen. Verflucht sei, wer dir fluchet; gesegnet sei, wer dich segnet!
Let peoples serve thee, And races bow down to thee. Be lord over thy brethren, And let thy mother's sons bow down to thee. Cursed be they that curse thee, And blessed be they that bless thee.
30 Als nun Isaak vollendet hatte den Segen über Jakob, und Jakob kaum hinausgegangen war von seinem Vater Isaak, da kam Esau, sein Bruder, von seiner Jagd
And it came to pass when Isaac had ended blessing Jacob, and when Jacob was only just gone out from Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came from his hunting.
31 und machte auch ein Essen; und trug's hinein zu seinem Vater und sprach zu ihm: Stehe auf, mein Vater, und iß von dem Wildbret deines Sohnes, daß mich deine Seele segne.
And he also had prepared savoury dishes, and he brought [them] in to his father, and said to his father, Let my father arise and eat of his son's venison, in order that thy soul may bless me.
32 Da antwortete ihm Isaak, sein Vater: Wer bist du? Er sprach: Ich bin Esau, dein erstgeborner Sohn:
And Isaac his father said to him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn, Esau.
33 Da entsetzte sich Isaak über die Maße sehr und sprach: Wer? wo ist denn der Jäger, der mir gebracht hat, und ich habe von allem gegessen, ehe du kamst, und habe ihn gesegnet? Er wird auch gesegnet bleiben.
Then Isaac trembled with exceeding great trembling, and said, Who was he, then, that hunted venison and brought [it] to me? And I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him; also blessed he shall be.
34 Als Esau diese Rede seines Vaters hörte, schrie er laut und ward über die Maße sehr betrübt; und sprach zu seinem Vater: Segne mich auch, mein Vater!
When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said to his father, Bless me — me also, my father!
35 Er aber sprach: Dein Bruder ist kommen mit List und hat deinen Segen hinweg.
And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and has taken away thy blessing.
36 Da sprach er: Er heißt wohl Jakob; denn er hat mich nun zweimal untertreten. Meine Erstgeburt hat er dahin, und siehe, nun nimmt er auch meinen Segen. Und sprach: Hast du mir denn keinen Segen vorbehalten?
And he said, Is it not therefore he was named Jacob, for he has supplanted me now twice? He took away my birthright, and behold, now he has taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?
37 Isaak antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Ich habe ihn zum HERRN über dich gesetzt, und alle seine Brüder habe ich ihm zu Knechten gemacht, mit Korn und Wein habe ich ihn versehen: was soll ich doch dir nun tun, mein Sohn?
And Isaac answered and said to Esau, Behold, I have made him lord over thee, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants, and with corn and new wine have I supplied him — and what can I do now for thee, my son?
38 Esau sprach zu seinem Vater: Hast du denn nur einen Segen, mein Vater? Segne mich auch, mein Vater! Und hub auf seine Stimme und weinete.
And Esau said to his father, Hast thou then but one blessing, my father? bless me — me also, my father! And Esau lifted up his voice and wept.
39 Da antwortete Isaak, sein Vater, und sprach zu ihm: Siehe da, du wirst eine fette Wohnung haben auf Erden und vom Tau des Himmels von oben her.
And Isaac his father answered and said to him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be of the fatness of the earth, And of the dew of heaven from above;
40 Deines Schwerts wirst du dich nähren und deinem Bruder dienen. Und es wird geschehen, daß du auch ein HERR und sein Joch von deinem Halse reißen wirst.
And by thy sword shalt thou live; And thou shalt serve thy brother; And it shall come to pass when thou rovest about, That thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.
41 Und Esau war Jakob gram um des Segens willen, damit ihn sein Vater gesegnet hatte, und sprach in seinem Herzen: Es wird die Zeit bald kommen, daß mein Vater Leid tragen muß; denn ich will meinen Bruder Jakob erwürgen.
And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father had blessed him. And Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand, and I will slay my brother Jacob.
42 Da wurden Rebekka angesagt diese Worte ihres größern Sohns Esau; und schickte hin und ließ Jakob, ihrem kleinern Sohn, rufen und sprach zu ihm: Siehe, dein Bruder Esau dräuet dir, daß er dich erwürgen will.
And the words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebecca. And she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said to him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, comforts himself that he will kill thee.
43 Und nun höre meine Stimme, mein Sohn: Mach dich auf und fleuch zu meinem Bruder Laban in Haran,
And now, my son, hearken to my voice, and arise, flee to Laban my brother, to Haran;
44 und bleib eine Weile bei ihm, bis sich der Grimm deines Bruders wende,
and abide with him some days, until thy brother's fury turn away —
45 und bis sich sein Zorn wider dich von dir wende und vergesse, was du an ihm getan hast; so will ich danach schicken und dich von dannen holen lassen. Warum sollte ich euer beider beraubet werden auf einen Tag?
until thy brother's anger turn away from thee, and he forget what thou hast done to him; then I will send and fetch thee thence. Why should I be bereaved even of you both in one day?
46 Und Rebekka sprach zu Isaak: Mich verdreußt zu leben vor den Töchtern Heths. Wo Jakob ein Weib nimmt von den Töchtern Heths, die da sind wie die Töchter dieses Landes, was soll mir das Leben?
And Rebecca said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth. If Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these, of the daughters of the land, what good should my life do me?
