Hesekiel 1
1 Im dreißigsten Jahr, am fünften Tage des vierten Monden, da ich war unter den Gefangenen am Wasser Chebar, tat sich der Himmel auf, und Gott zeigte mir Gesichte.
[I am] Ezekiel, a priest, the son of Buzi. When I was 30 years [old], I [living] among [Israeli] people who had been (exiled from/forced to leave) [and had come to Babylon]. I was living along the Kebar River/ [south of Babylon]. Almost five years after King Jehoiachin had been (exiled/forced to leave Judah), on the fifth day of the fourth [of that year, it was as though] the sky was opened and I saw visions from God. On that day,
2 Derselbe fünfte Tag des Monden war eben im fünften Jahr, nachdem Jojachin, der König Judas, war gefangen weggeführet.
3 Da geschah des HERRN Wort zu Hesekiel, dem Sohne Busis, des Priesters, im Lande der Chaldäer, am Wasser Chebar; daselbst kam die Hand des HERRN über ihn.
God gave me [in visions here] in Babylonia, and I felt the power [MTY] of Yahweh on me.
4 Und ich sah, und siehe, es kam ein ungestümer Wind von Mitternacht her mit einer großen Wolke voll Feuers, das allenthalben umher glänzte; und mitten in demselben Feuer war es wie lichthell.
[In one of the visions, I saw a] windstorm coming from the north. There was a huge cloud, and lightning was flashing continually, and a brilliant light surrounded the cloud. In the center of where the lightning was flashing there was something that resembled glowing bronze.
5 Und drinnen war es gestaltet wie vier Tiere, und unter ihnen eins gestaltet wie ein Mensch.
In the center of the storm I saw what resembled four living creatures. They resembled humans,
6 Und ein jegliches hatte vier Angesichte und vier Flügel.
but each of them had four faces and four wings [DOU].
7 Und ihre Beine stunden gerade, aber ihre Füße waren gleichwie runde Füße und glänzten wie ein hell, glatt Erz.
Their legs were straight. Their feet resembled the hooves of calves, and the creatures shone like polished bronze.
8 Und hatten Menschenhände unter ihren Flügeln an ihren vier Orten; denn sie hatten alle vier ihre Angesichte und ihre Flügel.
On their four sides under their wings there were hands like humans have.
9 Und derselbigen Flügel war je einer an dem andern. Und wenn sie gingen, durften sie sich nicht herumlenken, sondern wo sie hingingen, gingen sie stracks vor sich.
As the four [stood there, they formed a circle/square], with their wings touching each other. They did not turn when they were moving; they went straight ahead.
10 Ihre Angesichte zur rechten Seite der viere waren gleich einem Menschen und Löwen; aber zur linken Seite der viere waren Ihre Angesichte gleich einem Ochsen und Adler.
[of the creatures had four faces]. The face that was in front [of each one was a face that] resembled a human face. The face on the right side resembled a lion’s face. The face on the left side resembled an ox’s face. The face in back resembled an eagle’s face.
11 Und ihre Angesichte und Flügel waren obenher zerteilet, daß je zween Flügel zusammenschlugen und mit zween Flügeln ihren Leib bedeckten.
Two of each creature’s wings were lifted up and touched the wings of the creatures that were on each side. The other two wings were folded against the creature’s body.
12 Wo sie hingingen, da gingen sie stracks vor sich; sie gingen aber, wohin der Wind stund; und durften sich nicht herumlenken, wenn sie gingen.
The creatures went straight ahead in whatever direction the [that controlled/guided them] wanted them to go, without changing directions while they were moving.
13 Und die Tiere waren anzusehen wie feurige Kohlen, die da brennen, und wie Fackeln, die zwischen den Tieren gingen. Das Feuer aber gab einen Glanz von sich, und aus dem Feuer ging ein Blitz.
[four] creatures resembled burning coals or torches. A blazing fire moved back and forth among the creatures, and lighting flashed from among them.
14 Die Tiere aber liefen hin und her wie ein Blitz.
The creatures moved back and [extremely rapidly], like [SIM] flashes of lightning.
15 Als ich die Tiere so sah, siehe, da stund ein Rad auf der Erde bei den vier Tieren und war anzusehen wie vier Räder.
While I looked at the four living creatures, I saw a wheel on the ground beside each of them.
16 Und dieselbigen Räder waren wie ein Türkis und waren alle vier eins wie das andere; und sie waren anzusehen, als wäre ein Rad im andern.
Each of the wheels was the same, and they all shone like [SIM] (chrysolite/a valuable green stone). Each seemed to have one wheel inside another wheel.
17 Wenn sie gehen sollten, konnten sie in alle ihre vier Orte gehen und durften sich nicht herumlenken, wenn sie gingen.
Whenever they moved, they would go straight in one of the four directions that they faced; they did not [in another direction] while they moved.
18 Ihre Felgen und Höhe waren schrecklich; und ihre Felgen waren voller Augen um und um an allen vier Rädern.
The rims of the wheels were covered with eyes.
19 Und wenn die Tiere gingen, so gingen die Räder auch neben ihnen; und wenn die Tiere sich von der Erde emporhuben, so huben sich die Räder auch empor.
Whenever the living creatures moved, the wheels moved with them. [So] whenever the creatures rose from the ground, the [also] rose up.
20 Wo der Wind hinging, da gingen sie auch hin; und die Räder huben sich neben ihnen empor; denn es war ein lebendiger Wind in den Rädern.
Wherever the [that controlled the creatures] wanted the creatures to go, they went, and the wheels went with them, because the [that controlled/guided them] was in the wheels [DOU].
21 Wenn sie gingen, so gingen diese auch; wenn sie stunden, so stunden diese auch; und wenn sie sich emporhuben von der Erde, so huben sich auch die Räder neben ihnen empor; denn es war ein lebendiger Wind in den Rädern.
Whenever the creatures moved, the wheels moved. Whenever the creatures [still], the wheels stopped. Whenever the creatures rose up from the ground, the wheels rose up with them.
22 Oben aber über den Tieren war es gleich gestaltet wie der Himmel, als ein Kristall, schrecklich, gerade oben über ihnen ausgebreitet,
Above the heads of the creatures there was something that resembled a dome. It shone like ice (OR, crystal) shines, and it was awesome.
23 daß unter dem Himmel ihre Flügel einer stracks gegen den andern stund, und eines jeglichen Leib bedeckten zween Flügel.
Under the dome, the creatures stretched out their wings. Each one had two wings; [each wing] stretched towards the creature [was next to] it, and two wings that were against the creature’s body.
24 Und ich hörete die Flügel rauschen wie große Wasser und wie ein Getön des Allmächtigen, wenn sie gingen, und wie ein Getümmel in einem Heer. Wenn sie aber stille stunden, so ließen sie die Flügel nieder.
Whenever the creatures moved, their wings made a sound that resembled the roar made by a rushing stream. It also sounded like the voice of Almighty God, and like [SIM] the noise of a huge army marching. Whenever the creatures stood [on the ground], they lowered their wings.
25 Und wenn sie stille stunden und die Flügel niederließen, so donnerte es im Himmel oben über ihnen.
While they [on the ground] with their wings lowered, there was a voice from the dome that was over their heads.
26 Und über dem Himmel, so oben über ihnen war, war es gestaltet wie ein Saphir, gleichwie ein Stuhl; und auf demselbigen Stuhl saß einer, gleichwie ein Mensch gestaltet.
Above the dome was something that resembled [huge] [that was made of a huge] (sapphire/valuable blue stone). Sitting on the throne was someone that resembled a human.
27 Und ich sah, und es war wie lichthell, und inwendig war es gestaltet wie ein Feuer um und um. Von seinen Lenden über sich und unter sich, sah ich's wie Feuer glänzen um und um.
I saw that above his waist his body resembled metal that was glowing as though it [a very hot] fire inside it. And I saw that below his waist there was a very brilliant light that surrounded him.
28 Gleichwie der Regenbogen stehet in den Wolken, wenn es geregnet hat, also glänzte es um und um. Dies war das Ansehen der HERRLIchkeit des HERRN. Und da ich's gesehen hatte, fiel ich auf mein Angesicht und hörete einen reden.
[shone] like [SIM] a rainbow shines in the clouds on a rainy day. That was the brilliant light that represented the presence of Yahweh. When I saw it, I prostrated myself on the ground, and I heard him speak.
