Hesekiel 4

1 Und du, Menschenkind, nimm einen Ziegel, den lege vor dich und entwirf darauf die Stadt Jerusalem.

Thou therefore O son of man Take thee a tile, and lay it before thee, —and portray thereon a city, even Jerusalem.

2 Und mache eine Belagerung darum und baue ein Bollwerk darum und grabe einen Schutt darum und mache ein Heer darum und stelle Böcke rings um sie her.

Then shalt thou lay siege against it And build up against it a siege-wall And cast up against it, a mound, — And set against it camps, And place against it battering-rams, round about.

3 Für dich aber nimm eine eiserne Pfanne, die laß eine eiserne Mauer sein zwischen dir und der Stadt; und richte dein Angesicht gegen sie und belagere sie. Das sei ein Zeichen dem Hause Israel.

Thou, therefore take thee a pan of iron, and set it for a wall of iron, between thee and the city, —then shalt thou direct thy face against it and it shall come into siege and thou shalt lay siege to it, a sign, shall it be to the house of Israel.

4 Du sollst dich auch auf deine linke Seite legen und die Missetat des Hauses Israel auf dieselbige legen; so viel Tage du darauf liegest, so lange sollst du auch ihre Missetat tragen.

Thou, therefore lie thou on thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it, — during the number of the days which thou shalt lie thereon, shalt thou bear their punishment.

5 Ich will dir aber die Jahre ihrer Missetat zur Anzahl der Tage machen, nämlich dreihundertundneunzig Tage; so lange sollst du die Missetat des Hauses Israel tragen.

I therefore have appointed thee the years of their punishment, by the number of days a hundred and ninety days, —so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.

6 Und wenn du solches ausgerichtet hast, sollst du danach dich auf deine rechte Seite legen und sollst tragen die Missetat des Hauses Juda vierzig Tage lang, denn ich gebe dir hie auch je einen Tag für ein Jahr.

And when thou hast ended these, then shalt thou lie, on thy right side. a second time, and shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah, — forty days, one day for each year, have I appointed thee.

7 Und richte dein Angesicht und deinen bloßen Arm wider das belagerte Jerusalem und weissage wider sie.

Thus then unto the siege of Jerusalem, shalt thou direct thy face, with thine arm made bare, —so shalt thou prophesy against it.

8 Und siehe, ich will dir Stricke anlegen, daß du dich nicht wenden mögest von einer Seite zur andern, bis du die Tage deiner Belagerung vollendet hast.

And lo! I have laid upon thee-bands, —and thou shalt not turn thee from thy one side to thine other, until thou have ended the days of thy siege.

9 So nimm nun zu dir Weizen, Gerste, Bohnen, Linsen, Hirse und Spelt und tu es alles in ein Faß und mache dir so viel Brote daraus, so viele Tage du auf deiner Seite liegest, daß du dreihundertundneunzig Tage daran zu essen habest,

Thou, therefore, take thee wheat and barley and peas and lentils and millet and spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make them ready for thee as bread, —during the number of days which thou art lying on thy side. a hundred and ninety days, shalt thou eat it;

10 also daß deine Speise, die du täglich essen mußt, sei zwanzig Sekel schwer. Solches sollst du von einer Zeit zur andern essen.

and thy food which thou shalt eat shall be by weight twenty shekels a day, — from time to time, shalt thou eat it;

11 Das Wasser sollst du auch nach dem Maß trinken, nämlich das sechste Teil vom Hin; und sollst solches auch von einer Zeit zur andern trinken.

and water by measure, shalt thou drink the sixth part of a hin, -from time to time shalt thou drink;

12 Gerstenkuchen sollst du essen, die du vor ihren Augen mit Menschenmist backen sollst.

and as a barley cake, shalt thou eat it, —and the same with dung proceeding from man, shalt thou bake, before their eyes.

13 Und der HERR sprach: Also müssen die Kinder Israel ihr unrein Brot essen unter den Heiden, dahin ich sie verstoßen habe.

Then said Yahweh, In like manner, shall the sons of Israel eat their bread defiled, —among the nations whither I will drive them.

14 Ich aber sprach: Ach, HERR HERR, siehe, meine Seele ist noch nie unrein worden; denn ich habe von meiner Jugend auf bis auf diese Zeit kein Aas noch Zerrissenes gegessen, und ist nie kein unrein Fleisch in meinen Mund kommen.

Then said, I, Ah! My Lord. Yahweh, lo! my person, hath not been defiled: neither of what hath died of itself nor of what hath been torn in pieces: have I eaten, from my youthful days even unto now, neither hath come into my mouth the flesh of a foul thing.

15 Er aber sprach zu mir: Siehe, ich will dir Kuhmist für Menschenmist zulassen, damit du dein Brot machen sollst.

So then he said unto me, See I have granted thee cow’s dung for man’s dung, —and thou shalt prepare thy bread thereupon.

16 Und sprach zu mir: Du Menschenkind, siehe, ich will den Vorrat des Brots zu Jerusalem wegnehmen, daß sie das Brot essen müssen nach dem Gewicht und mit Kummer und das Wasser nach dem Maß mit Kummer trinken,

And he said unto me, Son of man Behold me! breaking the staff of bread in Jerusalem, So shall they eat bread by weight and with anxious care, And water by measure, and in astonishment, shall they drink:

17 darum daß an Brot und Wasser mangeln wird, und einer mit dem andern trauern und in ihrer Missetat verschmachten sollen.

that they may lack bread and water and be astonished one with another, and pine away in their punishment.
