2 Mose 4

1 Mose antwortete und sprach: Siehe, sie werden mir nicht glauben noch meine Stimme hören, sondern werden sagen: Der HERR ist dir nicht erschienen.

And Moses answereth and saith, 'And, if they do not give credence to me, nor hearken to my voice, and say, Jehovah hath not appeared unto thee?'

2 Der HERR sprach zu ihm: Was ist, das du in deiner Hand hast? Er sprach: Ein Stab.

And Jehovah saith unto him, 'What [is] this in thy hand?' and he saith, 'A rod;'

3 Er sprach: Wirf ihn von dir auf die Erde! Und er warf ihn von sich; da ward er zur Schlange. Und Mose floh vor ihr.

and He saith, 'Cast it to the earth;' and he casteth it to the earth, and it becometh a serpent — and Moses fleeth from its presence.

4 Aber der HERR sprach zu ihm: Strecke deine Hand aus und erhasche sie bei dem Schwanz. Da streckte er seine Hand aus und hielt sie; und sie ward zum Stab in seiner Hand.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'Put forth thy hand, and lay hold on the tail of it;' and he putteth forth his hand, and layeth hold on it, and it becometh a rod in his hand —

5 Darum werden sie glauben, daß dir erschienen sei der HERR, der Gott ihrer Väter, der Gott Abrahams, der Gott Isaaks, der Gott Jakobs.

' — so that they believe that Jehovah, God of their fathers, hath appeared unto thee, God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob.'

6 Und der HERR sprach weiter zu ihm: Stecke deine Hand in deinen Busen. Und er steckte sie in seinen Busen und zog sie heraus; siehe, da war sie aussätzig wie Schnee.

And Jehovah saith to him again, 'Put in, I pray thee, thy hand into thy bosom;' and he putteth in his hand into his bosom, and he bringeth it out, and lo, his hand [is] leprous as snow;

7 Und er sprach: Tu sie wieder in den Busen. Und er tat sie wieder in den Busen und zog sie heraus; siehe, da ward sie wieder wie sein ander Fleisch.

and He saith, 'Put back thy hand unto thy bosom;' and he putteth back his hand unto his bosom, and he bringeth it out from his bosom, and lo, it hath turned back as his flesh —

8 Wenn sie dir nun nicht werden glauben noch deine Stimme hören bei einem Zeichen, so werden sie doch glauben deiner Stimme bei dem andern Zeichen.

' — and it hath come to pass, if they do not give credence to thee, and hearken not to the voice of the first sign, that they have given credence to the voice of the latter sign.

9 Wenn sie aber diesen zweien Zeichen nicht glauben werden noch deine Stimme hören, so nimm des Wassers aus dem Strom und geuß es auf das trockne Land, so wird dasselbe Wasser, das du aus dem Strom genommen hast, Blut werden auf dem trocknen Lande.

'And it hath come to pass, if they do not give credence even to these two signs, nor hearken to thy voice, that thou hast taken of the waters of the River, and hast poured on the dry land, and the waters which thou takest from the River have been, yea, they have become — blood on the dry land.'

10 Mose aber sprach zu dem HERRN: Ach, mein HERR, ich bin je und je nicht wohl beredt gewesen, seit der Zeit du mit deinem Knecht geredet hast; denn ich habe eine schwere Sprache und eine schwere Zunge.

And Moses saith unto Jehovah, 'O, my Lord, I [am] not a man of words, either yesterday, or before, or since Thy speaking unto Thy servant, for I [am] slow of mouth, and slow of tongue.'

11 Der HERR sprach zu ihm: Wer hat dem Menschen den Mund geschaffen oder wer hat den Stummen oder Tauben oder Sehenden oder Blinden gemacht? Habe ich's nicht getan, der HERR?

And Jehovah saith unto him, 'Who appointed a mouth for man? or who appointeth the dumb, or deaf, or open, or blind? is it not I, Jehovah?

12 So gehe nun hin: Ich will mit deinem Munde sein und dich lehren, was du sagen sollst.

and now, go, and I — I am with thy mouth, and have directed thee that which thou speakest;'

13 Mose sprach aber: Mein HERR, sende, welchen du senden willst!

and he saith, 'O, my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand Thou dost send.'

14 Da ward der HERR sehr zornig über Mose und sprach: Weiß ich denn nicht, daß dein Bruder Aaron aus dem Stamm Levi beredt ist? Und siehe, er wird herausgehen dir entgegen, und wenn er dich siehet, wird er sich von Herzen freuen.

And the anger of Jehovah burneth against Moses, and He saith, 'Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I have known that he speaketh well, and also, lo, he is coming out to meet thee; when he hath seen thee, then he hath rejoiced in his heart,

15 Du sollst zu ihm reden und die Worte in seinen Mund legen. Und ich will mit deinem und seinem Munde sein und euch lehren; was ihr tun sollt.

and thou hast spoken unto him, and hast set the words in his mouth, and I — I am with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and have directed you that which ye do;

16 Und er soll für dich zum Volk reden; er soll dein Mund sein, und du sollst sein Gott sein.

and he, he hath spoken for thee unto the people, and it hath come to pass, he — he is to thee for a mouth, and thou — thou art to him for God;

17 Und diesen Stab nimm in deine Hand, damit du Zeichen tun sollst.

and this rod thou dost take in thy hand, with which thou doest the signs.'

18 Mose ging hin und kam wieder zu Jethro, seinem Schwäher, und sprach zu ihm: Lieber, laß mich gehen, daß ich wieder zu meinen Brüdern komme, die in Ägypten sind, und sehe, ob sie noch leben. Jethro sprach zu ihm: Gehe hin mit Frieden.

And Moses goeth and turneth back unto Jethro his father-in-law, and saith to him, 'Let me go, I pray thee, and I turn back unto my brethren who [are] in Egypt, and I see whether they are yet alive.' And Jethro saith to Moses, 'Go in peace.'

19 Auch sprach der HERR zu ihm in Midian: Gehe hin und zeuch wieder nach Ägypten; denn die Leute sind tot, die nach deinem Leben stunden.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses in Midian, 'Go, turn back to Egypt, for all the men have died who seek thy life;'

20 Also nahm Mose sein Weib und seine Söhne und führete sie auf einem Esel und zog wieder nach Ägyptenland; und nahm den Stab Gottes in seine Hand!

and Moses taketh his wife, and his sons, and causeth them to ride on the ass, and turneth back to the land of Egypt, and Moses taketh the rod of God in his hand.

21 Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Siehe zu, wenn du wieder nach Ägypten kommst, daß du alle die Wunder tust vor Pharao, die ich dir in deine Hand gegeben habe; ich aber will sein Herz verstocken, daß er das Volk nicht lassen wird.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'In thy going to turn back to Egypt, see — all the wonders which I have put in thy hand — that thou hast done them before Pharaoh, and I — I strengthen his heart, and he doth not send the people away;

22 Und sollst zu ihm sagen: So saget der HERR: Israel ist mein erstgeborner Sohn;

and thou hast said unto Pharaoh, Thus said Jehovah, My son, My first-born [is] Israel,

23 und ich gebiete dir, daß du meinen Sohn ziehen lassest, daß er mir diene. Wirst du dich des weigern, so will ich deinen erstgebornen Sohn erwürgen.

and I say unto thee, Send away My son, and he doth serve Me; and — thou dost refuse to send him away — lo, I am slaying thy son, thy first-born.'

24 Und als er unterwegen in der Herberge war, kam ihm der HERR entgegen und wollte ihn töten.

And it cometh to pass in the way, in a lodging place, that Jehovah meeteth him, and seeketh to put him to death;

25 Da nahm Zipora einen Stein und beschnitt ihrem Sohn die Vorhaut; und rührete ihm seine Füße an und sprach: Du bist mir ein Blutbräutigam.

and Zipporah taketh a flint, and cutteth off the foreskin of her son, and causeth [it] to touch his feet, and saith, 'Surely a bridegroom of blood [art] thou to me;'

26 Da ließ er von ihm ab. Sie sprach aber Blutbräutigam um der Beschneidung willen.

and He desisteth from him: then she said, 'A bridegroom of blood,' in reference to the circumcision.

27 Und der HERR sprach zu Aaron: Gehe hin Mose entgegen in die Wüste. Und er ging hin und begegnete ihm am Berge Gottes und küssete ihn.

And Jehovah saith unto Aaron, 'Go to meet Moses into the wilderness;' and he goeth, and meeteth him in the mount of God, and kisseth him,

28 Und Mose sagte Aaron alle Worte des HERRN, der ihn gesandt hatte, und alle Zeichen, die er ihm befohlen hatte.

and Moses declareth to Aaron all the words of Jehovah with which He hath sent him, and all the signs with which He hath charged him.

29 Und sie gingen hin und versammelten alle Ältesten von den Kindern Israel.

And Moses goeth — Aaron also — and they gather all the elders of the sons of Israel,

30 Und Aaron redete alle Worte, die der HERR mit Mose geredet hatte, und tat die Zeichen vor dem Volk.

and Aaron speaketh all the words which Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses, and doth the signs before the eyes of the people;

31 Und das Volk glaubete. Und da sie höreten, daß der HERR die Kinder Israel heimgesucht und ihr Elend angesehen hätte, neigeten sie sich und beteten an.

and the people believe when they hear that Jehovah hath looked after the sons of Israel, and that He hath seen their affliction; and they bow and do obeisance.
