5 Mose 33

1 Dies ist der Segen, damit Mose, der Mann Gottes, die Kinder Israel vor seinem Tode segnete,

Now, this, is the blessing wherewith Moses, the man of God, blessed the sons of Israel, —before his death.

2 und sprach: Der HERR ist von Sinai kommen und ist ihnen aufgegangen von Seir; er ist hervorgebrochen von dem Berge Paran und ist kommen mit viel tausend Heiligen; zu seiner rechten Hand ist ein feuriges Gesetz an sie.

And he said—Yahweh from Sinai, came near, —Yea he dawned, out of Seir, upon them, He shone forth out of Mount Paran, Yea he came out of holy myriads, —Out of his right hand [proceeded] fire to guide them.

3 Wie hat er die Leute so lieb! Alle seine Heiligen sind in deiner Hand; sie werden sich setzen zu deinen Füßen und werden lernen von deinen Worten.

Yea he loved the tribes, All his holy ones, were in thy hand, —Yea, they, were encamped at thy feet, Each one bare away some of thy words.

4 Mose hat uns das Gesetz geboten, dem Erbe der Gemeine Jakobs.

A law, did Moses command us, —A possession, for the convocation of Jacob.

5 Und er verwaltete das Amt eines Königs und hielt zusammen die Häupter des Volks samt den Stämmen Israels.

Thus became he in, Jeshurun, a king, —When the heads of the people gathered them-selves together, As one man, the tribes of Israel. [Reuben] —

6 Ruben lebe und sterbe nicht, und sein Pöbel sei gering!

Let Reuben live and not die, —Nor his men be easily counted.

7 Dies ist der Segen Judas. Und er sprach: HERR, erhöre die Stimme Judas, mache ihn zum Regenten in seinem Volk und laß seine Macht groß werden, und ihm müsse wider seine Feinde geholfen werden!

And, this, is for Judah, when he said, Hear, O Yahweh, the voice of Judah, That unto his own people, thou wouldst bring him home, —Let, his own hands, suffice him, And, a helper from his adversaries, do thou become.

8 Und zu Levi sprach er: Dein Recht und dein Licht bleibe bei deinem heiligen Mann, den du versuchet hast zu Massa, da ihr hadertet am Haderwasser.

And of Levi, he said: Let, thy perfections and thy lights, belong unto thy man of lovingkindness, —Whom thou didst put to the proof at Massah, With whom thou didst contend over the waters of Meribah;

9 Wer zu seinem Vater und zu seiner Mutter spricht: Ich sehe ihn nicht, und zu seinem Bruder: Ich kenne ihn nicht, und zu seinem Sohn: Ich weiß nicht: die halten deine Rede und bewahren deinen Bund;

Who saith of his father and of his mother, I behold them not, And, his own brethren, regardeth he not, And, his own sons, observeth he not, —Because they watch thy speech, That, thy covenant, they may preserve;

10 die werden Jakob deine Rechte lehren und den Israel dein Gesetz; die werden Räuchwerk vor deine Nase legen und ganze Opfer auf deinen Altar.

May teach thy regulations unto Jacob, And thy law unto Israel, —May put incense in thy nostrils, And a whole-offering upon thine altar.

11 HERR, segne sein Vermögen und laß dir gefallen die Werke seiner Hände; zerschlage den Rücken derer, die sich wider ihn auflehnen, und derer, die ihn hassen, daß sie nicht aufkommen.

Bless, O Yahweh his substance, And with the work of his hands, wilt thou be well pleased, —Crush thou the loins of them who rise up against him, And of them who hate him, that they rise not again.

12 Und zu Benjamin sprach er: Das Liebliche des HERRN wird sicher wohnen; allezeit wird er über ihm halten und wird zwischen seinen Schultern wohnen.

Of Benjamin, he said, The beloved of Yahweh, shall settle down securely, —With one to throw a shade over him all the day long, Yea, between his shoulders, hath he found rest.

13 Und zu Joseph sprach er: Sein Land liegt im Segen des HERRN. Da sind edle Früchte vom Himmel, vom Tau und von der Tiefe, die unten liegt.

And of Joseph, he said, Blessed of Yahweh, be his land, —With the precious things of the heavens with the dew, And with the abyss, couching beneath;

14 Da sind edle Früchte von der Sonne und edle reife Früchte der Monden

And with the precious fruits of the sun, —And with the precious yield of the moons;

15 und von den hohen Bergen gegen Morgen und von den Hügeln für und für

And with the chief of the ancient mountains, —And with the precious things of the age-abiding hills;

16 und edle Früchte von der Erde, und was drinnen ist. Die Gnade des, der in dem Busch wohnete, komme auf das Haupt Josephs und auf den Scheitel des Nasir unter seinen Brüdern.

And with the precious things of the earth and its fulness, And with the goodwill of One who dwelt in a thorn-bush.—Let it come on the head of Joseph, And on the crown of the head of him who was consecrated among his brethren.

17 Seine HERRLIchkeit ist wie ein erstgeborner Ochse, und seine Hörner sind wie Einhörners Hörner; mit denselben wird er die Völker stoßen zuhauf bis an des Landes Ende. Das sind die Tausende Ephraims und die Tausende Manasses.

His firstborn ox, be an honour to him. And the horns of a buffalo, be his horns, With them, let him thrust, peoples, All at once, to the ends of the earth, —Yea, [with] these, the myriads of Ephraim, And, [with] those, the thousands of Manasseh.

18 Und zu Sebulon sprach er: Sebulon, freue dich deines Auszugs! Aber, Isaschar, freue dich deiner Hütten!

And, of Zebulun, he said, Rejoice, Zebulun in thy going out, —And [thou], Issachar in thy tents:

19 Sie werden die Völker auf den Berg rufen und daselbst opfern Opfer der Gerechtigkeit. Denn sie werden die Menge des Meers saugen und die versenkten Schätze im Sande.

The peoples, unto the mountain, will they call, There, will they offer the sacrifices of righteousness, —For, the abundance of the seas, will they suck, Hidden treasures of the sand.

20 Und zu Gad sprach er: Gad sei gesegnet, der Raummacher; er liegt wie ein Löwe und raubet den Arm und die Scheitel.

And, of Gad, he said: Blessed, be he that hath made room for Gad, —As a lioness, hath he laid himself down, And hath torn an arm likewise the crown of the head;

21 Und er sah, daß ihm ein Haupt gegeben war, ein Lehrer, der verborgen ist, welcher kam mit den Obersten des Volks und verschaffte die Gerechtigkeit des HERRN und seine Rechte an Israel.

And hath provided a first part for himself, For, there, a commander’s portion hath been hid, —So he cometh with the heads of the people, The righteousness of Yahweh, he executeth, And his regulations, with Israel.

22 Und zu Dan sprach er: Dan ein junger Löwe; er wird fließen von Basan.

And, of Dan, he said, Dan, is a lion’s whelp, —He leapeth out of Bashan.

23 Und zu Naphthali sprach er: Naphthali wird genug haben, was er begehret, und wird voll Segens des HERRN sein; gegen Abend und Mittag wird sein Besitz sein.

And, of Naphtali, he said, O Naphtali! satisfied with favour, And full with the blessing of Yahweh, —The west and the sunny south, do thou possess.

24 Und zu Asser sprach er: Asser sei gesegnet mit Söhnen; er sei angenehm seinen Brüdern und tunke seinen Fuß in Öl!

And, of Asher, he said, Most blessed of sons, be Asher, —Let him have the goodwill of his brethren, And let him dip, in oil, his foot:

25 Eisen und Erz sei an seinen Schuhen; dein Alter sei wie deine Jugend.

Iron and bronze, be thy sandals, And, as thy days, be thy strength.

26 Es ist kein Gott als der Gott des Gerechten. Der im Himmel sitzt, der sei deine Hilfe, und des HERRLIchkeit in Wolken ist.

There is none like GOD, O Jeshurun, —Riding upon the heavens to thy help, —And for his own majesty, on the skies;

27 Das ist die Wohnung Gottes von Anfang und unter den Armen ewiglich. Und er wird vor dir her deinen Feind austreiben und sagen: Sei vertilget!

Above, is the God of aforetime, And, beneath, are the Arms of the ages, —So he driveth before thee the foe, And doth say—Destroy!

28 Israel wird sicher alleine wohnen; der Brunn Jakobs wird sein auf dem Lande, da Korn und Most ist; dazu sein Himmel wird mit Tau triefen.

Thus hath Israel settled down securely, Alone, the fountain of Jacob, Within a land both of corn and new wine, —His heaven also droppeth down dew.

29 Wohl dir, Israel, wer ist dir gleich? O Volk, das du durch den HERRN selig wirst, der deiner Hilfe Schild und das Schwert deines Sieges ist! Deinen Feinden wird's fehlen; aber du wirst auf ihrer Höhe einhertreten.

How happy art thou, O Israel! Who is like unto thee, O people victorious in Yahweh? Thy helpful shield, who also is thy majestic sword, —So that thy foes come cringing unto thee, And, thou, upon their heights, dost march along.
