2 Samuel 16

1 Und da David ein wenig von der Höhe gegangen war, siehe, da begegnete ihm Ziba, der Knabe Mephiboseths, mit einem Paar Esel gesattelt; darauf waren zweihundert Brote und hundert Stück Rosinen und hundert Stück Feigen und ein Legel Weins.

And when David was a little past the summit, behold, Ziba, Mephibosheth's servant, met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred [loaves] of bread, and a hundred raisin-cakes, and a hundred cakes of summer fruits, and a flask of wine.

2 Da sprach der König zu Ziba: Was willst du damit machen? Ziba sprach: Die Esel sollen für das Gesinde des Königs, drauf zu reiten, und die Brote und Feigen für die Knaben, zu essen, und der Wein, zu trinken, wenn sie müde werden in der Wüste.

And the king said to Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses are for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruits for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as are faint in the wilderness may drink.

3 Der König sprach: Wo ist der Sohn deines HERRN? Ziba sprach zum Könige: Siehe, er blieb zu Jerusalem; denn er sprach: Heute wird mir das Haus Israel meines Vaters Reich wiedergeben.

And the king said, And where is thy master's son? And Ziba said to the king, Behold, he abides at Jerusalem; for he said, To-day shall the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.

4 Der König sprach zu Ziba: Siehe, es soll dein sein alles, was Mephiboseth hat. Ziba sprach: Ich bete an; laß mich Gnade finden vor dir, mein HERR König!

And the king said to Ziba, Behold, thine are all that pertained to Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I humbly bow myself: may I find favour in thy sight, my lord, O king.

5 Da aber der König David bis gen Bahurim kam, siehe, da ging ein Mann daselbst heraus vom Geschlecht des Hauses Sauls, der hieß Simei, der Sohn Geras, der ging heraus und fluchte;

And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, there came out from thence a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed,

6 und warf David mit Steinen und alle Knechte des Königs David. Denn alles Volk und alle Gewaltigen waren zu seiner Rechten und zur Linken.

and cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David; and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.

7 So sprach aber Simei, da er fluchte: Heraus, heraus, du Bluthund, du loser Mann!

And thus said Shimei as he cursed: Away, away, thou man of blood and man of Belial!

8 Der HERR hat dir vergolten alles Blut des Hauses Sauls, daß du an seiner Statt bist König worden. Nun hat der HERR das Reich gegeben in die Hand deines Sohns Absalom; und siehe, nun steckest du in deinem Unglück, denn du bist ein Bluthund.

Jehovah has returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and Jehovah has given the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son; and behold, thou art [taken] in thine own evil, for thou art a man of blood.

9 Aber Abisai, der Sohn Zerujas, sprach zu dem Könige: Sollte dieser tote Hund meinem HERRN, dem Könige, fluchen? Ich will hingehen und ihm den Kopf abreißen.

And Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.

10 Der König sprach: Ihr Kinder Zerujas, was habe ich mit euch zu schaffen? Laßt ihn fluchen; denn der HERR hat es ihn geheißen: Fluche David! Wer kann nun sagen: Warum tust du also?

And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, for Jehovah has said to him, Curse David! Who shall then say, Why dost thou so?

11 Und David sprach zu Abisai und zu allen seinen Knechten: Siehe, mein Sohn, der von meinem Leibe kommen ist, stehet mir nach meinem Leben, warum nicht auch jetzt der Sohn Jeminis? Laßt ihn bezähmen, daß er fluche; denn der HERR hat es ihn geheißen.

And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who came forth of my bowels, seeks my life: how much more now a Benjaminite? let him alone and let him curse; for Jehovah has bidden him.

12 Vielleicht wird der HERR mein Elend ansehen und mir mit Güte vergelten sein heutiges Fluchen.

It may be that Jehovah will look on mine affliction, and that Jehovah will requite me good for my being cursed this day.

13 Also ging David mit seinen Leuten des Weges; aber Simei ging an des Berges Seite neben ihm her und fluchte und warf mit Steinen zu ihm und sprengete mit Erdenklößen.

And David and his men went by the way; and Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.

14 Und der König kam hinein mit allem Volk, das bei ihm war, müde, und erquickte sich daselbst.

And the king, and all the people that were with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.

15 Aber Absalom und alles Volk der Männer Israels kamen gen Jerusalem, und Ahitophel mit ihm.

Now Absalom, and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

16 Da aber Husai, der Arachiter, Davids Freund, zu Absalom hineinkam, sprach er zu Absalom: Glück zu, er König! Glück zu, er König!

And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, came to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, Long live the king! Long live the king!

17 Absalom aber sprach zu Husai: Ist das deine Barmherzigkeit an deinem Freunde? Warum bist du nicht mit deinem Freunde gezogen?

And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why didst thou not go with thy friend?

18 Husai aber sprach zu Absalom: Nicht also, sondern welchen der HERR erwählet und dies Volk und alle Männer in Israel, des will ich sein und bei ihm bleiben.

And Hushai said to Absalom, No; but whom Jehovah, and this people, and all the men of Israel choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.

19 Zum andern, wem sollte ich dienen? Sollte ich nicht vor seinem Sohn dienen? Wie ich vor deinem Vater gedienet habe, so will ich auch vor dir sein.

And again, whom should I serve? should it not be in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father's presence, so will I be in thy presence.

20 Und Absalom sprach zu Ahitophel: Ratet zu, was sollen wir tun?

And Absalom said to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.

21 Ahitophel sprach zu Absalom: Beschlaf die Kebsweiber deines Vaters, die er gelassen hat, das Haus zu bewahren, so wird das ganze Israel hören, daß du deinen Vater hast stinkend gemacht, und wird aller Hand, die bei dir sind, desto kühner werden.

And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to thy father's concubines, whom he has left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art become odious with thy father; and the hands of all that are with thee shall be strong.

22 Da machten sie Absalom eine Hütte auf dem Dache; und Absalom beschlief die Kebsweiber seines Vaters vor den Augen des ganzen Israel.

So they spread a tent for Absalom upon the roof; and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

23 Zu der Zeit, wenn Ahitophel einen Rat gab, das war, als wenn man Gott um etwas hätte gefragt; also waren alle Ratschläge Ahitophels beide bei David und bei Absalom.

And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had inquired of the word of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
