1 Elisa redete mit dem Weibe, des Sohn er hatte lebendig gemacht, und sprach: Mache dich auf und gehe hin mit deinem Hause und sei Fremdling, wo du kannst; denn der HERR wird eine Teurung rufen, die wird ins Land kommen sieben Jahre lang.

And Elisaie spoke to the woman, whose son he [had] restored to life, saying, Arise, and go you and your house, and sojourn wherever you may sojourn: for the Lord has called for a famine upon the land; indeed it is come upon the land [for] seven years.

2 Das Weib machte sich auf und tat, wie der Mann Gottes sagte, und zog hin mit ihrem Hause und war Fremdling in der Philister Lande sieben Jahre.

And the woman arose, and did according to the word of Elisaie, both she and her house; and they sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

3 Da aber die sieben Jahre um waren, kam das Weib wieder aus der Philister Lande; und sie ging aus, den König anzuschreien um ihr Haus und Acker.

And it came to pass after the expiration of the seven years, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines to the city; and came to cry to the king for her house and for her lands.

4 Der König aber redete mit Gehasi, dem Knaben des Mannes Gottes, und sprach: Erzähle mir alle großen Taten, die Elisa getan hat.

And the king spoke to Giezi the servant of Elisaie the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray you, all the great things which Elisaie has done.

5 Und indem er dem König erzählte, wie er hätte einen Toten lebendig gemacht, siehe, da kam eben dazu das Weib, des Sohn er hatte lebendig gemacht, und schrie den König an um ihr Haus und Acker. Da sprach Gehasi: Mein HERR König, dies ist das Weib, und dies ist ihr Sohn, den Elisa hat lebendig gemacht.

And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored to life the dead son, behold, the woman whose son Elisaie restored to life [came] crying to the king for her house and for her lands. And Giezi said, My lord, O king, this [is] the woman, and this [is] her son, whom Elisaie restored to life.

6 Und der König fragte das Weib; und sie erzählte es ihm. Da gab ihr der König einen Kämmerer und sprach: Schaffe ihr wieder alles, das ihr ist; dazu alles Einkommen des Ackers, seit der Zeit sie das Land verlassen hat, bis hieher.

And the king asked the woman, and she told him: and the king appointed her a eunuch, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field from the day that she left the land until now.

7 Und Elisa kam gen Damaskus. Da lag Benhadad, der König zu Syrien, krank; und man sagte es ihm an und sprach: Der Mann Gottes ist herkommen.

And Elisaie came to Damascus; and the king of Syria the son of Ader was ill, and they brought him word, saying, The man of God is come here.

8 Da sprach der König zu Hasael: Nimm Geschenk mit dir und gehe dem Mann Gottes entgegen; und frage den HERRN durch ihn und sprich, ob ich von dieser Krankheit möge genesen.

And the king said to Azael, Take in your hand a present, and go to meet the man of God, and enquire of the Lord by him, saying, Shall I recover of this my disease?

9 Hasael ging ihm entgegen und nahm Geschenk mit sich und allerlei Güter zu Damaskus, vierzig Kamelen Last. Und da er kam, trat er vor ihn und sprach: Dein Sohn Benhadad, der König zu Syrien, hat mich zu dir gesandt und läßt dir sagen: Kann ich auch von dieser Krankheit genesen?

And Azael went to meet him, and he took a present in his hand, and all the good things of Damascus, forty camels' load, and came and stood before him, and said to Elisaie, Your son the son of Ader, the king of Syria, has sent me to you to enquire, saying, Shall I recover of this my disease?

10 Elisa sprach zu ihm: Gehe hin und sage ihm: Du wirst genesen; aber der HERR hat mir gezeiget, daß er des Todes sterben wird.

And Elisaie said, Go, say, You shall certainly live; yet the Lord has showed me that you shall surely die.

11 Und der Mann Gottes sah ernst und stellete sich ungebärdig und weinete.

And he stood before him, and fixed [his countenance] till he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.

12 Da sprach Hasael: Warum weinet mein HERR? Er sprach: Ich weiß, was Übels du den Kindern Israel tun wirst. Du wirst ihre festen Städte mit Feuer verbrennen und ihre junge Mannschaft mit dem Schwert erwürgen und ihre jungen Kinder töten und ihre schwangeren Weiber zerhauen.

And Azael said, Why does my lord weep? And he said, Because I know all the evil that you will do to the children of Israel: you will utterly destroy their strong holds with fire, and you will kill their choice men with the sword, and you will dash their infants [against the ground], and their women with child you will rip up.

13 Hasael sprach: Was ist dein Knecht, der Hund, daß er solch groß Ding tun sollte? Elisa sprach: Der HERR hat mir gezeiget, daß du König zu Syrien sein wirst.

And Azael said, Who is your servant? a dead dog, that he should do this thing? And Elisaie said, The Lord has shown me you ruling over Syria.

14 Und er ging weg von Elisa und kam zu seinem HERRN, der sprach zu ihm: Was sagte dir Elisa? Er sprach: Er sagte mir: Du wirst genesen.

And he departed from Elisaie, and went in to his lord; and he said to him, What said Elisaie to you? and he said, He said to me, You shall surely live.

15 Des andern Tages aber nahm er den Kolter und tunkte ihn in Wasser und breitete ihn über sich her; da starb er. Und Hasael ward König an seiner Statt.

And it came to pass on the next day that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and put it on his face, and he died: and Azael reigned in his stead.

16 Im fünften Jahr Jorams, des Sohns Ahabs, des Königs Israels, ward Joram, der Sohn Josaphats, König in Juda.

In the fifth year of Joram son of Achaab king of Israel, and while Josaphat was king of Juda, Joram the son of Josaphat king of Juda began to reign.

17 Zweiunddreißig Jahre alt war er, da er König ward; und regierete acht Jahre zu Jerusalem.

Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

18 Und wandelte auf dem Wege der Könige Israels, wie das Haus Ahabs tat; denn Ahabs Tochter war sein Weib; und er tat, das dem HERRN übel gefiel.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Achaab; for the daughter of Achaab was his wife: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord.

19 Aber der HERR wollte Juda nicht verderben um seines Knechts David willen; wie er ihm geredet hatte, ihm zu geben eine Leuchte unter seinen Kindern immerdar.

But the Lord would not destroy Juda for David his servant's sake, as he said he would give a light to him and to his sons continually.

20 Zu seiner Zeit fielen die Edomiter ab von Juda und machten einen König über sich.

In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Juda, and they made a king over themselves.

21 Denn Joram war durch Zair gezogen und alle Wagen mit ihm; und hatte sich des Nachts aufgemacht und die Edomiter geschlagen, die um ihn her waren, dazu die Obersten über die Wagen, daß das Volk floh in seine Hütten.

And Joram went up to Sior, and all the chariots that were with him: and it came to pass after he had arisen, that he struck Edom who compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots; and the people fled to their tents.

22 Darum fielen die Edomiter ab von Juda bis auf diesen Tag. Auch fiel zu derselben Zeit ab Libna.

Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Juda till this day. Then Lobna revolted at that time.

23 Was aber mehr von Joram zu sagen ist, und alles, was er getan hat, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Judas.

And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, behold, are not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda?

24 Und Joram entschlief mit seinen Vätern und ward begraben mit seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids. Und Ahasja sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.

So Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of his father David: and Ochozias his son reigned in his stead.

25 Im zwölften Jahr Jorams, des Sohns Ahabs, des Königs Israels, ward Ahasja, der Sohn Jorams, König in Juda.

In the twelfth year of Joram son of Achaab king of Israel, Ochozias son of Joram began to reign.

26 Zweiundzwanzig Jahre alt war Ahasja, da er König ward, und regierte ein Jahr zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Athalja, eine Tochter Amris, des Königs Israels.

Twenty and two years old [was] Ochozias when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem: and the name of his mother [was] Gotholia, daughter of Ambri king of Israel.

27 Und wandelte auf dem Wege des Hauses Ahabs und tat, das dem HERRN übel gefiel, wie das Haus Ahabs, denn er war Schwager im Hause Ahabs.

And he walked in the way of the house of Achaab, and did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, as did the house of Achaab.

28 Und er zog mit Joram, dem Sohn Ahabs, in Streit wider Hasael, den König zu Syrien, gen Ramoth in Gilead; aber die Syrer schlugen Joram.

And he went with Joram the son of Achaab to war against Azael king of the Syrians in Remmoth Galaad; and the Syrians wounded Joram.

29 Da kehrete Joram, der König, um, daß er sich heilen ließe zu Jesreel von den Schlägen, die, ihm die Syrer geschlagen hatten zu Rama, da er mit Hasael, dem Könige zu Syrien, stritt. Und Ahasja, der Sohn Jorams, der König Judas, kam hinab, zu besehen Joram, den Sohn Ahabs, zu Jesreel; denn er lag krank.

And king Joram returned to be healed in Jezrael of the wounds with which they wounded him in Remmoth, when he fought with Azael king of Syria. And Ochozias son of Joram went down to see Joram the son of Achaab in Jezrael, because he was sick.
