1 Samuel 23

1 Und es ward David angesagt: Siehe, die Philister streiten wider Kegila und berauben die Tennen.

Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Ke'ilah, and they are plundering the threshing-floors.

2 Da fragte David den HERRN und sprach: Soll ich hingehen und diese Philister schlagen? Und der HERR sprach zu David: Gehe hin, du wirst die Philister schlagen und Kegila erretten

Thereupon David asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite among these Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go and smite among the Philistines, and deliver Ke'ilah.

3 Aber die Männer bei David sprachen zu ihm: Siehe, wir fürchten uns hie in Juda und wollen hingehen gen Kegila, zu der Philister Zeug?

And David's men said unto him, Behold, here in Judah are we afraid: how much more then if we should go to Ke'ilah against the battle-arrays of the Philistines?

4 Da fragte David wieder den HERRN; und der HERR antwortete ihm und sprach: Auf, zeuch hinab gen Kegila; denn ich will die Philister in deine Hände geben.

Then David asked yet again counsel of the Lord. And the Lord answered him and said, Arise, Go down to Ke'ilah; for I [will] deliver the Philistines into thy hand.

5 Also zog David samt seinen Männern gen Kegila und stritt wider die Philister und trieb ihnen ihr Vieh weg; und tat eine große Schlacht an ihnen. Also errettete David die zu Kegila.

So David and his men went to Ke'ilah; and he fought with the Philistines, and lead away their cattle, and smote among them a great slaughter. So David delivered the inhabitants of Ke'ilah.

6 Denn da Abjathar, der Sohn Ahimelechs, floh zu David gen Kegila, trug er den Leibrock mit sich hinab.

And it came to pass, when Ebyathar the son of Achimelech, fled over to David, to Ke'ilah, that the ephod came down with him.

7 Da ward Saul angesagt, daß David gen Kegila kommen wäre, und sprach: Gott hat ihn in meine Hände übergeben, daß er verschlossen ist, nun er in eine Stadt kommen ist, mit Toren und Riegeln verwahret.

And it was told to Saul that David was come to Ke'ilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into my hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.

8 Und Saul ließ alles Volk rufen zum Streit hinnieder gen Kegila, daß sie David und seine Männer belegten.

And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Ke'ilah, to besiege David and his men.

9 Da aber David merkte, daß Saul Böses über ihn gedachte, sprach er zu dem Priester Abjathar: Lange den Leibrock her!

And David understood that Saul secretly devised mischief against him; and he said to Ebyathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.

10 Und David sprach: HERR, Gott Israels, dein Knecht hat gehöret, daß Saul danach trachte, daß er gen Kegila komme, die Stadt zu verderben um meinetwillen.

Then said David, O Lord, God of Israel, thy servant hath heard for certain that Saul seeketh to come to Ke'ilah, to destroy the city for my sake.

11 Werden mich auch die Bürger zu Kegila überantworten in seine Hände? Und wird aber Saul herab kommen, wie dein Knecht gehöret hat? Das verkündige, HERR, Gott Israels, deinem Knechte. Und der HERR sprach: Er wird herabkommen.

Will the men of Ke'ilah surrender me into his hand? will Saul come down as thy servant hath heard? O Lord, God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the Lord said, He will come down.

12 David sprach: Werden aber die Bürger zu Kegila mich und meine Männer überantworten in die Hände Sauls? Der HERR sprach: Ja.

Then said David, Will the men of Ke'ilah surrender me and my men into the hand of Saul! And the Lord said, They will surrender.

13 Da machte sich David auf samt seinen Männern, deren bei sechshundert waren, und zogen aus von Kegila und wandelten, wo sie hin konnten. Da nun Saul angesagt ward, daß David von Kegila entronnen war, ließ er sein Ausziehen anstehen.

Then arose David and his men, about six hundred men, and departed out of Ke'ilah, and wandered about whithersoever they could go. And when it was told to Saul that David was escaped from Ke'ilah, he forbore to go forth.

14 David aber blieb in der Wüste, in der Burg, und blieb auf dem Berge in der Wüste Siph. Saul aber suchte ihn sein Leben lang; aber Gott gab ihn nicht in seine Hände.

And David remained in the wilderness in strong-holds, and abode on the mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him all the time, but God delivered him not into his hand.

15 Und David sah, daß Saul ausgezogen war, sein Leben zu suchen. Aber David war in der Wüste Siph, in der Heide.

And David saw that Saul was gone forth to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in the forest.

16 Da machte sich Jonathan auf, der Sohn Sauls, und ging hin zu David in die Heide und stärkte seine Hand in Gott;

And Jonathan, the son of Saul, arose and went to David into the forest, and strengthened his hand in God.

17 und sprach zu ihm: Fürchte dich nicht; meines Vaters Sauls Hand wird dich nicht finden, und du wirst König werden über Israel, so will ich der nächste um dich sein; auch weiß solches mein Vater wohl.

And he said unto him, Fear not; for the hand of Saul my father will not find thee; and thou wilt be king over Israel, and I will be next unto thee; and also Saul my father knoweth this.

18 Und sie machten beide einen Bund miteinander vor dem HERRN. Und David blieb in der Heide, aber Jonathan zog wieder heim.

And they made, both of them, a covenant before the Lord: and David remained in the forest; but Jonathan went to his house.

19 Aber die Siphiter zogen hinauf zu Saul gen Gibea und sprachen: Ist nicht David bei uns verborgen in der Burg, in der Heide, auf dem Hügel Hachila, der zur Rechten liegt an der Wüste?

Then came up the Ziphites unto Saul to Gib'ah, saying, Behold, David is hiding himself with us in the strong-holds in the forest, on the hill of Chachilah, which is on the right of the desert.

20 So komme nun der König hernieder nach all seines Herzens Begehr, so wollen wir ihn überantworten in des Königs Hände.

And now in accordance with all the longing of thy soul, O king, to come down, come down; and our part shall be to surrender him into the king's hand.

21 Da sprach Saul: Gesegnet seid ihr dem HERRN, daß ihr euch mein erbarmet habt!

And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the Lord; for ye have pity on me.

22 So gehet nun hin und werdet es noch gewisser, daß ihr wisset und sehet, an welchem Ort seine Füße gewesen sind, und wer ihn daselbst gesehen habe; denn mir ist gesagt, daß er listig ist.

Go, I pray you, make yet more preparations, and remark and see his place where his foot may be, who hath seen him there; for I am told that he dealeth with great subtilty.

23 Besehet und erkundet alle Örter, da er sich verkreucht, und kommt wieder zu mir, wenn ihr's gewiß seid, so will ich mit euch ziehen. Ist er im Lande, so will ich nach ihm forschen unter allen Tausenden in Juda.

See therefore, and remark every one of all the lurking-places where he usually hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you; and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.

24 Da machten sie sich und gingen gen Siph vor Saul hin. David aber und seine Männer waren in der Wüste Maon, auf dem Gefilde zur Rechten der Wüste.

And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul; but David and his men were in the wilderness of Ma'on, in the plain on the right of the desert.

25 Da nun Saul hinzog mit seinen Männern zu suchen, ward es David angesagt; und er machte sich hinab in den Fels und blieb in der Wüste Maon. Da das Saul hörete, jagte er David nach in der Wüste Maon.

And Saul and his men went to make a search. And they told it to David: wherefore he came down to the rock, and abode in the wilderness of Ma'on. And when Saul heard this, he pursued after David into the wilderness of Ma'on.

26 Und Saul mit seinen Männern ging an einer Seite des Berges, David mit seinen Männern an der andern Seite des Berges. Da David aber eilete, dem Saul zu entgehen, da umringete Saul samt seinen Männern David und seine Männer, daß er sie griffe.

And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain; and David made haste to get away from before Saul; and Saul and his men were compassing David and his men to seize them.

27 Aber es kam ein Bote zu Saul und sprach: Eile und komm; denn die Philister sind ins Land gefallen!

But a messenger came unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.

28 Da kehrete sich Saul von dem Nachjagen Davids und zog hin den Philistern entgegen; daher heißt man den Ort Sela-Mahelkoth.

Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Sela-hammachlekoth.

29 Und David zog hinauf von dannen und blieb in der Burg Engedi.

And David went up from there, and dwelt in strong-holds of 'En-gedi.
