1 Adam, Seth, Enos,
[The first person God created was Adam]. Adam’s [son was] Seth. [Seth’s son was] Enosh. [Enosh’s son was] Kenan.
2 Kenan, Mahalaleel, Jared,
[Kenan’s son was] Mahalalel. [Mahalalel’s son was] Jared. [Jared’s son was] Enoch.
3 Henoch, Methusalah, Lamech,
[Enoch’s son was] Methuselah. [Methusalah’s son was] Lamech. [Lamech’s son was] Noah.
4 Noah, Sem, Ham, Japheth.
[Noah’s sons were] Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
5 Die Kinder Japheths sind diese: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Thubal, Mesech, Thiras.
The sons (OR, descendants) of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
6 Die Kinder aber Gomers sind: Askenas, Riphath, Thogarma.
The sons (OR, descendants) of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
7 Die Kinder Javans sind: Elisa, Tharsisa, Chitim, Dodanim.
The descendants of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim.
8 Die Kinder Hams sind: Chus, Mizraim, Put, Kanaan.
The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim (OR, Egypt), Put, and Canaan.
9 Die Kinder aber Chus sind: Seba, Hevila, Sabtha, Ragema, Sabthecha. Die Kinder aber Ragemas sind: Scheba und Dedan.
The descendants of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons (OR, descendants) of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.
10 Chus aber zeugete Nimrod; der fing an gewaltig zu sein auf Erden.
Another descendant of Cush was Nimrod. When he grew up, he became a mighty warrior on the earth.
11 Mizraim zeugete Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphthuhim,
Mizraim (OR, Egypt) was the ancestor of the Lud people-group, the Anam people-group, the Lehab people-group, the Naphtuh people-group,
12 Pathrusim, Kasluhim (von welchen sind auskommen die Philistim) und Kaphthorim.

13 Kanaan aber zeugete Zidon, seinen ersten Sohn, und Heth,

18 Arphachsad aber zeugete Salah; Salah zeugete Eber.
Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, who was the father of Eber.
19 Eber aber wurden zween Söhne geboren; der eine hieß Peleg, darum daß zu seiner Zeit das Land zerteilet ward; und sein Bruder hieß Jaktan.
Eber had two sons. One was named Peleg [which sounds like the word that means ‘divided’] because during the time that he lived, [the people on] the earth were divided [into various language groups]. Peleg’s [younger] brother was Joktan.
20 Jaktan aber zeugete Almodad, Saleph, Hazarmaveth, Jarah,
Joktan was the ancestor of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
21 Hadoram, Usal, Dikla,
Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
22 Ebal, Abimael, Scheba,
Obal, Abimael, Sheba,
23 Ophir, Hevila und Jobab. Das sind alle Kinder Jaktans.

[After]’s [wife Sarah died, he took another wife named] Keturah. The sons of Abraham and Keturah were Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. Jokshan’s sons were Sheba and Dedan.
33 Und die Kinder Midians sind: Epha, Epher, Henoch, Abida, Eldaa. Dies sind alle Kinder der Ketura.
Midian’s sons were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah.
34 Abraham zeugete Isaak. Die Kinder aber Isaaks sind: Esau und Israel.
The son of Abraham [and his wife Sarah] was Isaac, and Isaac’s sons were Esau and [Jacob, whose name was later changed to] Israel.
35 Die Kinder Esaus sind: Eliphas, Reguel, Jeus, Jaelam, Korah.
The sons of Esau were Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
36 Die Kinder Eliphas sind: Theman, Omar, Zephi, Gaetham, Kenas, Thimna, Amalek.
The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho (OR, Zephi), Gatam, Kenaz, Timna, and Amalek.
37 Die Kinder Reguels sind: Nahath, Serah, Samma und Misa.
Reuel’s sons were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah.
38 Die Kinder Seirs sind: Lothan, Sobal, Zibeon, Ana, Dison, Ezer, Disan.
[Another descendant of Esau was Seir. His descendants lived in the Edom region]. Seir’s sons were Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.

Anah’s son was Dishon. 1 Dishon’s sons were Hemdan (OR, Hamran), Eshban, Ithran, and Keran.
42 Die Kinder Ezers sind: Bilhan, Saewan, Jaekan. Die Kinder Disans sind: Uz und Aran.
Ezer’s sons were Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan (OR, Jaakan). Dishan’s sons were Uz and Aran.
43 Dies sind die Könige, die regieret haben im Lande Edom, ehe denn ein König regierete unter den Kindern Israel: Bela, der Sohn Beors; und seine Stadt hieß Dinhaba.
[These are the names of] the kings that ruled [the] Edom [region] before any kings ruled over Israel: Bela, the son of Beor, was king in Edom, and the name of the city [in which he lived] was Dinhabah.

When Bela died, Jobab, the son of Zerah from Bozrah [city], became the king.
45 Und da Jobab starb, ward König an seiner Statt Husam aus der Themaniter Lande.
When Jobab died, Husham became the king. He was from the region where the Teman people-group lived.
46 Da Husam starb, ward König an seiner Statt Hadad, der Sohn Bedads, der die Midianiter schlug in der Moabiter Felde; und seine Stadt hieß Awith.
When Husham died, Hadad, the son of Bedad, became the king. He [ruled in] Avith city. Hadad’s [army] defeated [the army of the] Midian [people-group] in [the] Moab [region].
47 Da Hadad starb, ward König an seiner Statt Samla von Masrek.
When Hadad died, Samlah became the king. He was from Masrekah [town].
48 Da Samla starb, ward König an seiner Statt Saul von Rehoboth am Wasser.
When Samlah died, Shaul became the king. He was from Rehoboth [city] along the [Euphrates] river.
49 Da Saul starb, ward König an seiner Statt Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors.
When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan, the son of Achbor, became the king.
50 Da Baal-Hanan starb, ward König an seiner Statt Hadad, und seine Stadt hieß Pagi; und sein Weib hieß Mehetabeel, eine Tochter Matreds, die Mesahabs Tochter war.
When Baal-Hanan died, Hadad became the king. He was from Pau city. His wife’s name was Mehetabel; she was the daughter of Matred and the granddaughter of Me-Zahab.
51 Da aber Hadad starb, wurden Fürsten zu Edom: Fürst Thimna, Fürst Alwa, Fürst Jetheth,
Then Hadad died. The leaders of the clans of the Edom people-group were Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,
52 Fürst Ahalibama, Fürst Ela, Fürst Pinon,
Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
53 Fürst Kenas, Fürst Theman, Fürst Mibzar,
Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,
54 Fürst Magdiel, Fürst Iram. Das sind die Fürsten zu Edom.
