Psalm 89
1 Ein Maskil Ethans, des Esrachiten. Die Gnadenerweisungen Jahwes will ich immerdar besingen, will deine Treue allen künftigen Geschlechtern mit meinem Munde verkündigen.
Of understanding, for Ethan the Ezrahite. The mercies of the Lord I will sing for ever. I will shew forth thy truth with my mouth to generation and generation.
2 Denn du sprachst: “Auf ewig wird die Gnadenverheißung aufgebaut”; auf den Himmel gründetest du deine Treue.
For thou hast said: Mercy shall be built up for ever in the heavens: thy truth shall be prepared in them.
3 “Ich habe meinen Erwählten eine Zusicherung gegeben, habe meinem Knechte David geschworen:
I have made a covenant with my elect: I have sworn to David my servant:
4 “Auf ewig will ich deine Nachkommenschaft fest gegründet sein lassen und für alle künftigen Geschlechter deinen Thron erbauen.” (Sela)
Thy seed will I settle for ever. And I will build up thy throne unto generation and generation.
5 Und es preist der Himmel deine Wunder, Jahwe, und deine Treue in der Versammlung der Heiligen.
The heavens shall confess thy wonders, O Lord: and thy truth in the church of the saints.
6 Denn wer im Gewölke gleicht Jahwe, ist Jahwe ähnlich unter den Göttersöhnen?
For who in the clouds can be compared to the Lord: or who among the sons of God shall be like to God?
7 dem Gotte, der überaus schrecklich im Rate der Heiligen und furchtbar über alle um ihn her.
God, who is glorified in the assembly of the saints: great and terrible above all them that are about him.
8 Jahwe, du Gott der Heerscharen, wer ist wie du gewaltig, Jah? Und deine Treue ist rings um dich her.
O Lord God of hosts, who is like to thee? thou art mighty, O Lord, and thy truth is round about thee.
9 Du beherrschest den Übermut des Meers; wenn sich seine Wellen erheben, du stillst sie.
Thou rulest the power of the sea: and appeasest the motion of the waves thereof.
10 Du hast Rahab wie einen Erschlagenen zermalmt; mit deinem starken Arm zerstreutest du deine Feinde.
Thou hast humbled the proud one, as one that is slain: with the arm of thy strength thou hast scattered thy enemies.
11 Dein ist der Himmel, dein auch die Erde; der Erdkreis und was ihn füllt, - du hast sie gegründet.
Thine are the heavens, and thine is the earth: the world and the fulness thereof thou hast founded:
12 Nord und Süd, du hast sie geschaffen, Thabor und Hermon jubeln über deinen Namen.
The north and the sea thou hast created. Thabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name:
13 Du hast einen Arm voller Kraft; stark ist deine Hand, hoch erhoben deine Rechte.
Thy arm is with might. Let thy hand be strengthened, and thy right hand exalted:
14 Gerechtigkeit und Recht ist die Grundfeste deines Throns, Gnade und Treue gehen vor dir her.
Justice and judgment are the preparation of thy throne. Mercy and truth shall go before thy face:
15 Wohl dem Volke, das Jubelruf kennt, das, o Jahwe, im Lichte deines Angesichts wandelt!
Blessed is the people that knoweth jubilation. They shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance:
16 Über deinen Namen frohlocken sie allezeit und stehen groß da durch deine Gerechtigkeit.
And in thy name they shall rejoice all the day, and in thy justice they shall be exalted.
17 Denn du bist ihre starke Zier, und durch deine Gunst ist unser Horn hoch erhoben.
For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy good pleasure shall our horn be exalted.
18 Denn Jahwe gehört unser Schild und dem Heiligen Israels unser König.
For our protection is of the Lord, and of our king the holy one of Israel.
19 Damals redetest du im Gesichte zu deinem Frommen und sprachst: “Ich habe ein Diadem auf einen Helden gelegt, einen Erwählten aus dem Volk emporgezogen.
Then thou spokest in a vision to thy saints, and saidst: I have laid help upon one that is mighty, and have exalted one chosen out of my people.
20 “Ich habe David, meinen Knecht, gefunden, mit meinem heiligen Öl ihn gesalbt,
I have found David my servant: with my holy oil I have anointed him.
21 “ihn, mit dem meine Hand beständig sein, und den mein Arm stärken wird.
For my hand shall help him: and my arm shall strengthen him.
22 “Kein Feind soll ihn berücken, noch ein Ruchloser ihn überwältigen.
The enemy shall have no advantage over him: nor the son of iniquity have power to hurt him.
23 “Sondern ich will seine Bedränger vor ihm her zermalmen und, die ihn hassen, will ich schlagen.
And I will cut down his enemies before his face; and them that hate him I will put to flight.
24 “Meine Treue und Gnade sollen mit ihm sein, und durch meinen Namen soll sein Horn hoch erhoben sein.
And my truth and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
25 “Ich will machen, daß seine Hand siegreich auf dem Meere liegt und seine Rechte auf den Strömen.
And I will set his hand in the sea; and his right hand in the rivers.
26 “Er wird mich rufen: Mein Vater bist du, mein Gott und der Fels meines Heils!
He shall cry out to me: Thou art my father: my God, and the support of my salvation.
27 “Ja, zum Erstgebornen will ich ihn machen, zum Höchsten unter den Königen der Erde.
And I will make him my firstborn, high above the kings of the earth.
28 “Auf ewig will ich ihm meine Gnade bewahren, und meine Zusicherung bleibt ihm gewiß.
I will keep my mercy for him for ever: and my covenant faithful to him.
29 “Ich will seiner Nachkommenschaft ewigen Bestand verleihen und seinem Throne, so lange der Himmel währt.
And I will make his seed to endure for evermore: and his throne as the days of heaven.
30 “Wenn seine Söhne mein Gesetz verlassen und nicht nach meinen Rechten wandeln,
And if his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments:
31 “wenn sie meine Satzungen entweihen und meine Gebote nicht halten,
If they profane my justices: and keep not my commandments:
32 “so werde ich mit dem Stock ihr Vergehen ahnden und ihre Verschuldung mit Schlägen.
I will visit their iniquities with a rod: and their sins with stripes.
33 “Aber meine Gnade will ich ihm nicht entziehen und werde meine Treue nicht brechen.
But my mercy I will not take away from him: nor will I suffer my truth to fail.
34 “Ich will meine Zusicherung nicht entweihen und nicht ändern, was über meine Lippen gegangen ist.
Neither will I profane my covenant: and the words that proceed from my mouth I will not make void.
35 “Einmal habe ich bei meiner Heiligkeit geschworen - ich werde David nimmermehr belügen! -:
Once have I sworn by my holiness: I will not lie unto David:
36 “Seine Nachkommenschaft soll ewig bestehen und sein Thron so wandellos vor mir wie die Sonne.”
His seed shall endure for ever.
37 Gleich dem Monde soll er ewig bestehen, und der Zeuge im Gewölk ist zuverlässig! (Sela)
And his throne as the sun before me: and as the moon perfect for ever, and a faithful witness in heaven.
38 Und doch hast du verworfen und verschmäht, bist gegen deinen Gesalbten ergrimmt.
But thou hast rejected and despised: thou hast been angry with thy anointed.
39 Du verabscheust die Zusicherung an deinen Knecht, hast sein Diadem entweiht und zu Boden getreten.
Thou hast overthrown the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned his sanctuary on the earth.
40 Du hast alle seine Mauern niedergerissen, alle seine Bollwerke in Trümmer gelegt.
Thou hast broken down all his hedges: thou hast made his strength fear.
41 Alle, die des Wegs vorüberkamen, haben ihn geplündert; er ward zum Hohn für seine Nachbarn.
All that pass by the way have robbed him: he is become a reproach to his neighbours.
42 Du ließest die Rechte seiner Bedränger siegreich sein, erfreutest alle seine Feinde.
Thou hast set up the right hand of them that oppress him: thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.
43 Du ließest die Schneide seines Schwerts zurückweichen und ließest ihn im Kampfe nicht aufkommen.
Thou hast turned away the help of his sword; and hast not assisted him in battle.
44 Du hast seinem Glanz ein Ende gemacht und seinen Thron zu Boden gestürzt.
Thou hast made his purification to cease: and thou hast cast his throne down to the ground.
45 Du hast die Tage seiner Jugend verkürzt, hast ihn mit Schande umhüllt. (Sela)
Thou hast shortened the days of his time: thou hast covered him with confusion.
46 Wie lange, Jahwe, willst du dich für immer verbergen, und soll dein Grimm wie Feuer brennen?
How long, O Lord, turnest thou away unto the end? shall thy anger burn like fire?
47 Gedenke doch, wie kurz mein Leben ist, zu welchem Nichts du alle Menschenkinder geschaffen hast!
Remember what my substance is for hast thou made all the children of men in vain?
48 Wo wäre einer, der leben bliebe und den Tod nicht sähe, der sein Leben aus der Gewalt der Unterwelt erretten könnte? (Sela) (Sheol h7585)
Who is the man that shall live, and not see death: that shall deliver his soul from the hand of hell? (Sheol h7585)
49 Wo sind, o Herr, deine früheren Gnadenverheißungen, die du David kraft deiner Treue geschworen hast?
Lord, where are thy ancient mercies, according to what thou didst swear to David in thy truth?
50 Gedenke, Herr, der Schmach deiner Knechte, daß ich in meinem Busen den ganzen Hohn der Völker trage,
Be mindful, O Lord, of the reproach of thy servants (which I have held in my bosom) of many nations:
51 womit deine Feinde, Jahwe, gehöhnt haben, womit sie gehöhnt haben die Fußspuren deines Gesalbten!
Wherewith thy enemies have reproached, O Lord; wherewith they have reproached the change of thy anointed.
52 Gepriesen sei Jahwe in Ewigkeit. Amen, Amen!
Blessed be the Lord for evermore. So be it. So be it.
