Psalm 86

1 Ein Gebet Davids. Neige, Jahwe, dein Ohr, erhöre mich, denn ich bin elend und arm!

A Prayer. Of David. Let your ears be open to my voice, O Lord, and give me an answer; for I am poor and in need.

2 Bewahre meine Seele, denn ich bin fromm; hilf du, mein Gott, deinem Knechte, der auf dich vertraut.

Keep my soul, for I am true to you; O my God, give salvation to your servant, whose hope is in you.

3 Sei mir gnädig, Herr, denn zu dir rufe ich allezeit.

Have mercy on me, O Lord; for my cry goes up to you all the day.

4 Erfreue die Seele deines Knechtes, denn zu dir, Herr, erhebe ich meine Seele.

Make glad the soul of your servant; for it is lifted up to you, O Lord.

5 Denn du, Herr, bist gütig und willig, zu vergeben, und reich an Huld gegen alle, die dich anrufen.

You are good, O Lord, and full of forgiveness; your mercy is great to all who make their cry to you.

6 Vernimm, Jahwe, mein Gebet und merke auf mein lautes Flehen!

O Lord, give ear to my prayer; and take note of the sound of my requests.

7 Zur Zeit meiner Not rufe ich dich an, denn du erhörst mich.

In the day of my trouble I send up my cry to you; for you will give me an answer.

8 Herr, dir ist keiner gleich unter den Göttern, und nichts gleicht deinen Werken.

There is no god like you, O Lord; there are no works like your works.

9 Alle Völker, die du geschaffen hast, werden kommen und sich vor dir niederwerfen, Herr, und deinem Namen Ehre geben.

Let all the nations whom you have made come and give worship to you, O Lord, giving glory to your name.

10 Denn du bist groß und thust Wunder, du, o Gott, allein!

For you are great, and do great works of wonder; you only are God.

11 Lehre mich, Jahwe, deinen Weg, daß ich in Treue gegen dich wandle; mein Herz freut sich daran, deinen Namen zu fürchten.

Make your way clear to me, O Lord; I will go on my way in your faith: let my heart be glad in the fear of your name.

12 Ich will dich preisen, Herr, mein Gott, von ganzem Herzen und deinen Namen immerdar ehren.

I will give you praise, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will give glory to your name for ever.

13 Denn deine Gnade ist groß über mir, und du hast meine Seele aus der Unterwelt drunten errettet. (Sheol h7585)

For your mercy to me is great; you have taken my soul up from the deep places of the underworld. (Sheol h7585)

14 Gott, Vermessene haben sich wider mich erhoben, und eine Rotte Gewaltthätiger trachtet mir nach dem Leben, und haben dich nicht vor Augen.

O God, men of pride have come up against me, and the army of violent men would take my life; they have not put you before them.

15 Du aber, o Herr, bist ein barmherziger und gnädiger Gott, langsam zum Zorn und reich an Huld und Treue.

But you, O Lord, are a God full of pity and forgiveness, slow to get angry, great in mercy and wisdom.

16 Wende dich zu mir und sei mir gnädig; verleihe deinem Knechte deine Stärke und hilf dem Sohne deiner Magd!

O be turned to me and have mercy on me: give your strength to your servant, and your salvation to the son of her who is your servant.

17 Thue an mir ein Zeichen zum Guten, daß es sehen, die mich hassen, und beschämt werden, daß du, Jahwe, mir beigestanden und mich getröstet hast.

Give me a sign for good; so that my haters may see it and be shamed; because you, Lord, have been my help and comfort.
