Psalm 82

1 Ein Psalm Asaphs. Gott steht da in der Gottes-Versammlung, inmitten von Göttern hält er Gericht.

A psalm of Asaph. God has taken his stand in the divine assembly: in the midst of the gods he holds judgment.

2 Wie lange wollt ihr ungerecht richten und für die Gottlosen Partei ergreifen? (Sela)

“How long will you crookedly judge, and favor the wicked? (Selah)

3 Führt die Sache der Geringen und Verwaisten; den Elenden und Dürftigen helft zum Recht!

Do right by the weak and the orphan, acquit the innocent poor.

4 Errettet die Geringen und Armen, befreit sie aus der Gewalt der Gottlosen!

Rescue the weak and the needy, save them from the hand of the wicked.

5 Sie sind ohne Einsicht und ohne Verstand; in Finsternis gehen sie einher: es wanken alle Grundfesten der Erde.

“They have neither knowledge nor insight, in darkness they walk to and fro, while the earth’s foundations totter.

6 Wohl habe ich gesagt: Ihr seid Götter und insgesamt Söhne des Höchsten:

It was I who appointed you gods, children of the Most High all of you.

7 “Wahrlich, wie Menschen sollt ihr sterben und wie einer der Oberen fallen!”

Yet like mortals you will surely die, you will fall like any prince.”

8 Auf, o Gott, richte die Erde; denn du bist Erbherr über alle Heiden!

Arise, O God, judge the earth, for all nations are yours by inheritance.
