Psalm 74
1 Ein Maskil Asaphs. Warum, o Gott, hast du uns für immer verworfen, warum bist du so grimmig erzürnt über die Schafe deiner Weide?
A Maskil of Asaph. Why have You rejected us forever, O God? Why does Your anger smolder against the sheep of Your pasture?
2 Gedenke deiner Gemeinde, die du vor Alters erworben, zum Stamme deines Eigentums erlöst hast, an den Zionsberg, auf dem du gewohnt hast.
Remember Your congregation, which You purchased long ago and redeemed as the tribe of Your inheritance— Mount Zion where You dwell.
3 Erhebe deine Schritte zu den ewigen Trümmern: alles hat der Feind im Heiligtume verderbt.
Turn Your steps to the everlasting ruins, to everything in the sanctuary the enemy has destroyed.
4 Deine Widersacher brüllten inmitten deiner Versammlungsstätte, stellten ihre Zeichen als Zeichen auf.
Your foes have roared within Your meeting place; they have unfurled their banners as signs,
5 Er thut sich kund, wie einer, der im Dickicht der Bäume die Äxte emporhebt.

6 Und nun sein Schnitzwerk insgesamt mit Beil und Hämmern zerschlagen sie.
and smashing all the carvings with hatchets and picks.
7 Sie haben dein Heiligtum in Brand gesteckt, die Wohnung deines Namens bis zum Boden entweiht.
They have burned Your sanctuary to the ground; they have defiled the dwelling place of Your Name.
8 Sie dachten in ihrem Sinn: Ihre Brut insgesamt -! Sie haben alle heiligen Versammlungsstätten im Lande verbrannt.
They said in their hearts, “We will crush them completely.” They burned down every place where God met us in the land.
9 Unsere Zeichen erblicken wir nicht; kein Prophet ist mehr da, und wir haben niemand, der da wüßte, bis wann.
There are no signs for us to see. There is no longer any prophet. And none of us knows how long this will last.
10 Bis wann, o Gott, soll der Widersacher lästern, soll der Feind deinen Namen immerfort verhöhnen?
How long, O God, will the enemy taunt You? Will the foe revile Your name forever?
11 Warum ziehst du deine Hand und deine Rechte zurück? Ziehe sie heraus aus deinem Busen und vertilge!
Why do You withdraw Your strong right hand? Stretch it out to destroy them!
12 Gott ist ja mein König von Alters her, der hilfreiche Thaten auf Erden gethan hat.
Yet God is my King from ancient times, working salvation on the earth.
13 Du hast durch deine Macht das Meer gespalten, die Häupter der Seeungeheuer auf dem Wasser zerbrochen.
You divided the sea by Your strength; You smashed the heads of the dragons of the sea;
14 Du hast die Häupter des Leviathan zerschmettert, gabst ihn der Schar der Wüstentiere zum Fraße.
You crushed the heads of Leviathan; You fed him to the creatures of the desert.
15 Du ließest Quell und Bach hervorbrechen, du ließest immerfließende Ströme versiegen.
You broke open the fountain and the flood; You dried up the ever-flowing rivers.
16 Dein ist der Tag und dein ist die Nacht, du hast das Licht und die Sonne hergerichtet.
The day is Yours, and also the night; You established the moon and the sun.
17 Du hast alle Grenzen der Erde festgestellt; Sommer und Winter, du hast sie geschaffen.
You set all the boundaries of the earth; You made the summer and winter.
18 Gedenke daran! Der Feind lästert, Jahwe, und ein thörichtes Volk verhöhnt deinen Namen.
Remember how the enemy has mocked You, O LORD, how a foolish people has spurned Your name.
19 Gieb den Raubtieren nicht das Leben deiner Taube preis, vergiß nicht für immer das Leben deiner Elenden!
Do not deliver the soul of Your dove to beasts; do not forget the lives of Your afflicted forever.
20 Blicke auf deinen Bund! Denn voll sind die Schlupfwinkel des Landes von Stätten der Gewaltthat.
Consider Your covenant, for haunts of violence fill the dark places of the land.
21 Laß den Unterdrückten nicht mit Schanden davon gehn; laß die Elenden und Armen deinen Namen preisen!
Do not let the oppressed retreat in shame; may the poor and needy praise Your name.
22 Auf, o Gott! Führe deinen Streit! Gedenke an die Schmach, die dir unaufhörlich von dem Thoren widerfährt!
Rise up, O God; defend Your cause! Remember how the fool mocks You all day long.
23 Vergiß nicht das Lärmen deiner Feinde, das Toben deiner Widersacher, das beständig emporsteigt!
Do not disregard the clamor of Your adversaries, the uproar of Your enemies that ascends continually.
