Psalm 146
1 Rühmet Jah! Rühme, meine Seele, Jahwe!
Praise Yahweh! With my whole inner being I will praise Yahweh.
2 Ich will Jahwe mein Leben lang rühmen, meinem Gotte lobsingen, so lange ich bin!
I will praise Yahweh as long as I am alive; I will sing to praise my God for [the rest of] my life.
3 Verlaßt euch nicht auf Fürsten, auf einen Menschen, der nicht helfen kann.
[You people], do not trust in your leaders; do not trust humans because they cannot save/rescue you [from your difficulties/problems].
4 Wenn sein Odem ausgeht, wird er wieder zu Erde; an demselben Tage ist's mit seinen Anschlägen vorbei.
And when they die, their corpses [decay and] become soil again. After they die, they can no longer do the things that they planned to do.
5 Wohl dem, dessen Hilfe der Gott Jakobs ist, der seine Hoffnung setzt auf Jahwe, seinen Gott,
But those whose helper is the God whom Jacob [worshiped] are happy. The one whom they confidently expect [to help them] is Yahweh, their God.
6 der Himmel und Erde, das Meer und alles, was in ihnen ist, geschaffen hat, der ewig Treue hält,
He is the one who created heaven and the earth and the oceans and all [the creatures] that are in them. He always does what he has promised to do.
7 der den Unterdrückten Recht schafft, der den Hungrigen Brot giebt. Jahwe befreit die Gefangenen,
He decides matters fairly for those who are (treated unfairly/oppressed), and he provides food for those who are hungry. He frees those who are in prison.
8 Jahwe macht die Blinden sehend; Jahwe richtet die Gebeugten auf, Jahwe hat die Frommen lieb.
Yahweh enables those who are blind to see again. He lifts up those who have fallen down. He loves righteous [people].
9 Jahwe behütet die Fremdlinge, erhält Waisen und Witwen, aber die Gottlosen führt er in Irrsal.
Yahweh takes care of those from other countries who live in our land, and he helps widows and orphans. But he gets rid of wicked [people].
10 Jahwe wird König sein in Ewigkeit, dein Gott, o Zion, durch alle Geschlechter! Rühmet Jah!
Yahweh will [continue to] be our king forever; you people of Israel, your God will rule forever! Praise Yahweh!
