Psalm 135
1 Rühmet Jah! Rühmt den Namen Jahwes, rühmt, ihr Diener Jahwes,
Praise Yahweh. Praise the name of Yahweh. Praise him, you servants of Yahweh,
2 die ihr im Tempel Jahwes steht, in den Vorhöfen des Tempels unseres Gottes!
you who stand in Yahweh's house, in the courtyards of the house of our God.
3 Rühmet Jah, den Jahwe ist gütig; lobsingt seinem Namen, denn er ist lieblich!
Praise Yahweh, for he is good; sing praises to his name, for it is pleasant to do so.
4 Denn Jah hat sich Jakob erwählt, Israel zu seinem Eigentum.
For Yahweh has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel as his possession.
5 Denn ich weiß, daß Jahwe groß ist und unser Herr alle Götter überragt.
I know that Yahweh is great, that our Lord is above all gods.
6 Alles, was ihm beliebte, hat Jahwe gethan, im Himmel und auf Erden, im Meer und in allen Tiefen.
Whatever Yahweh desires, he does in heaven, on earth, in the seas and all the ocean depths.
7 Der Wolken heraufführt vom Ende der Erde her, Regen und Blitze schafft, den Wind aus seinen Schatzkammern hervorholt;
He brings the clouds from far away, making lightning bolts accompany the rain and bringing the wind out of his storehouse.
8 der die Erstgeborenen Ägyptens schlug, sowohl Menschen, als Vieh,
He killed the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and animals.
9 Zeichen und Wunder in dich, Ägypten, entsandte, wider den Pharao und alle seine Unterthanen;
He sent signs and wonders into your midst, Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants.
10 der viele Völker schlug und mächtige Könige tötete:
He attacked many nations and killed mighty kings,
11 Sihon, den König der Amoriter, und Og, den König von Basan, und alle Königreiche Kanaans.
Sihon king of the Amorites and Og king of Bashan and all the kingdoms of Canaan.
12 Und er gab ihr Land zum Besitztum, zum Besitztum seinem Volk Israel.
He gave us their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to Israel his people.
13 Jahwe, dein Name währt ewig, dein Gedächtnis, Jahwe, durch alle Geschlechter.
Your name, Yahweh, endures forever; your renown, Yahweh, endures throughout all generations.
14 Denn Jahwe schafft seinem Volke Recht und erbarmt sich über seine Knechte.
For Yahweh defends his people and has compassion on his servants.
15 Die Götzen der Heiden sind Silber und Gold, ein Werk von Menschenhänden.
The nations' idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
16 Sie haben einen Mund und reden nicht, sie haben Augen und sehen nicht.
Those idols have mouths, but they do not speak; they have eyes, but they do not see;
17 Sie haben Ohren und hören nicht, und kein Odem ist in ihrem Munde.
they have ears, but they do not hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.
18 Ihnen gleich werden die, die sie verfertigen, jeder, der auf sie vertraut.
Those who make them are like them, as is everyone who trusts in them.
19 Ihr vom Hause Israel, preiset Jahwe! Ihr vom Hause Aarons, preiset Jahwe!
Descendants of Israel, bless Yahweh; descendants of Aaron, bless Yahweh.
20 Ihr vom Hause Levis, preiset Jahwe! Die ihr Jahwe fürchtet, preiset Jahwe!
Descendants of Levi, bless Yahweh; you who honor Yahweh, bless Yahweh.
21 Gepriesen sei Jahwe vom Zion aus, er, der zu Jerusalem wohnt! Rühmet Jah!
Blessed be Yahweh in Zion, he who lives in Jerusalem. Praise Yahweh.
