Psalm 107
1 “Danket Jahwe, denn er ist gütig, denn ewig währt seine Gnade!”
Give ye thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good; for his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever.
2 sollen die von Jahwe Erlösten sprechen, die er aus der Drangsal erlöst
Let the redeemed of Jehovah say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the oppressor,
3 und die er aus den Ländern gesammelt hat, vom Aufgang und vom Niedergang, von Norden und von Westen her.
And gathered out of the countries, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the sea.
4 Sie irrten in der Wüste, in wegloser Einöde; sie fanden keine Stadt, in der sie wohnen konnten,
They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way, they found no city of habitation;
5 waren hungrig und durstig; ihre Seele in ihnen verzagte.
Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them:
6 Da schrieen sie zu Jahwe in ihrer Not; der errettete sie aus ihren Ängsten
Then they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, [and] he delivered them out of their distresses,
7 und führte sie auf ebenem Wege, daß sie nach einer Stadt wanderten, in der sie wohnen konnten.
And he led them forth by a right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
8 Sie mögen Jahwe für seine Gnade danken und für seine Wunder an den Menschenkindern,
Let them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men;
9 daß er die lechzende Seele gesättigt und die hungernde Seele mit Gutem erfüllt hat.
For he hath satisfied the longing soul and filled the hungry soul with good.
10 Die in Finsternis und Umnachtung saßen, in Elend und Eisen gefangen, -
Such as inhabit darkness and the shadow of death, bound in affliction and iron,
11 denn sie hatten den Worten Gottes widerstrebt und den Ratschluß des Höchsten verachtet;
Because they had rebelled against the words of God, and had despised the counsel of the Most High; ...
12 und er beugte ihren Übermut durch Trübsal: sie sanken hin und niemand half.
And he bowed down their heart with labour; they stumbled, and there was none to help:
13 Da schrieen sie zu Jahwe in ihrer Not; der half ihnen aus ihren Ängsten.
Then they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, [and] he saved them out of their distresses;
14 Er führte sie heraus aus der Finsternis und Umnachtung und zerriß ihre Bande.
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bands in sunder.
15 Sie mögen Jahwe für seine Gnade danken und für seine Wunder an den Menschenkindern.
Let them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men;
16 Denn er zerbrach die ehernen Thüren und zerhieb die eisernen Riegel.
For he hath broken the gates of bronze, and cut asunder the bars of iron.
17 Die da hinsiechten infolge ihres sündigen Wandels und um ihrer Verschuldungen willen geplagt wurden;
Fools, because of their way of transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted;
18 jegliche Speise verabscheute ihre Seele, und sie waren schon nahe an den Thoren des Todes:
Their soul abhorreth all manner of food, and they draw near unto the gates of death:
19 Da schrieen sie zu Jahwe in ihrer Not; der half ihnen aus ihren Ängsten.
Then they cry unto Jehovah in their trouble, [and] he saveth them out of their distresses;
20 Er sandte sein Wort und heilte sie und ließ sie aus ihren Gruben entrinnen.
He sendeth his word, and healeth them, and delivereth them from their destructions.
21 Sie mögen Jahwe für seine Gnade danken und für seine Wunder an den Menschenkindern
Let them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men,
22 und mögen Dankopfer bringen und seine Werke mit Jubel erzählen.
And let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works in joyful song.
23 Die auf Schiffen das Meer befuhren, auf großen Wassern Handel trieben,
They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters,
24 die haben die Werke Jahwes geschaut und seine Wunder in der Tiefe!
These see the works of Jehovah, and his wonders in the deep.
25 Denn er gebot, da entstand ein Sturmwind; der hob seine Wellen hoch empor.
For he speaketh, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof:
26 Sie stiegen zum Himmel auf, fuhren in die Tiefen hinab; ihre Seele verzagte in solcher Not.
They mount up to the heavens, they go down to the depths; their soul is melted because of trouble;
27 Sie tanzten und schwankten wie ein Trunkener, und alle ihre Weisheit wurde zu nichte gemacht:
They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and they are at their wits' end:
28 Da schrieen sie zu Jahwe in ihrer Not; der befreite sie aus ihren Ängsten.
Then they cry unto Jehovah in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses;
29 Er stillte den Sturm zum Säuseln, und es schwiegen ihre Wellen.
He maketh the storm a calm, and the waves thereof are still:
30 Da wurden sie froh, daß sie sich legten, und er führte sie zum ersehnten Hafen.
And they rejoice because they are quiet; and he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
31 Sie mögen Jahwe für seine Gnade danken und für seine Wunder an den Menschenkindern
Let them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men;
32 und mögen ihn in der Volksgemeinde erheben und im Rate der Vornehmen rühmen.
Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the session of the elders.
33 Er machte Ströme zur Wüste und Quellorte von Gewässern zu dürrem Lande,
He maketh rivers into a wilderness, and water-springs into dry ground;
34 fruchtbares Land zur salzigen Steppe wegen der Bosheit derer, die es bewohnten.
A fruitful land into a plain of salt, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
35 Er machte die Wüste zum Wasserteich und dürres Land zu Quellorten von Gewässern.
He maketh the wilderness into a pool of water, and the dry land into water-springs;
36 Er ließ daselbst Hungernde wohnen, und sie gründeten eine Stadt, in der sie wohnen konnten.
And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, and they establish a city of habitation;
37 Sie besäeten Felder und pflanzten Weinberge, die gaben alljährlich Früchte.
And sow fields, and plant vineyards, which yield fruits of increase;
38 Und er segnete sie, daß sie sich überaus vermehrten, und gab ihnen nicht wenig Vieh.
And he blesseth them, so that they are multiplied greatly; and he suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
39 Aber sie nahmen ab und wurden gebeugt durch den Druck des Unglücks und Jammers.
And they are diminished and brought low, through oppression, adversity, and sorrow:
40 “Er gießt Verachtung über Edle ausund läßt sie irren in unwegsamer Öde.”
He poureth contempt upon nobles, and causeth them to wander in a pathless waste;
41 Er hob den Armen aus dem Elend empor und machte die Geschlechter einer Herde gleich.
But he secureth the needy one on high from affliction, and maketh [him] families like flocks.
42 “Die Frommen sehen's und freuen sich, und die Bosheit schließt ihr Maul”.
The upright shall see it, and rejoice; and all unrighteousness shall stop its mouth.
43 Wer ist weise? Der beachte dies, und sie mögen merken auf die Gnadenerweisungen Jahwes!
Whoso is wise, let him observe these things, and let them understand the loving-kindnesses of Jehovah.
