Psalm 104
1 Preise, meine Seele, Jahwe! Jahwe, mein Gott, du bist überaus groß; mit Majestät und Hoheit bist du angethan,
My soule, prayse thou the Lord: O Lord my God, thou art exceeding great, thou art clothed with glorie and honour.
2 der sich in Licht hüllt wie in einen Mantel, den Himmel ausspannt wie ein Zelttuch,
Which couereth himselfe with light as with a garment, and spreadeth the heauens like a curtaine.
3 der seinen Söller im Wasser bälkt, dichte Wolken zu seinem Fahrzeuge macht, auf den Fittigen des Windes wandelt,
Which layeth the beames of his chambers in the waters, and maketh the cloudes his chariot, and walketh vpon the wings of the winde.
4 der Winde zu seinen Boten macht, zu seinen Dienern loderndes Feuer.
Which maketh his spirits his messengers, and a flaming fire his ministers.
5 Er hat die Erde auf ihre Pfeiler gegründet, daß sie in alle Ewigkeit nicht wanken kann.
He set the earth vpon her foundations, so that it shall neuer moue.
6 Mit der Flut wie mit einem Gewande bedecktest du sie; auf den Bergen standen Gewässer.
Thou coueredst it with the deepe as with a garment: the waters woulde stand aboue the mountaines.
7 Vor deinem Schelten flohen sie, vor deinem Donnerschall zogen sie sich angstvoll zurück -
But at thy rebuke they flee: at the voyce of thy thunder they haste away.
8 Berge stiegen empor, es senkten sich Thäler - an die Stätte, die du ihnen gegründet.
And the mountaines ascend, and the valleis descend to the place which thou hast established for them.
9 Du hast eine Grenze gesetzt, die dürfen sie nicht überschreiten, dürfen die Erde nicht wieder bedecken.
But thou hast set them a bounde, which they shall not passe: they shall not returne to couer the earth.
10 Der in den Thälern Quellen entsendet; zwischen den Bergen fließen sie dahin.
He sendeth the springs into the valleis, which runne betweene the mountaines.
11 Sie tränken alle Tiere des Gefildes; die Wildesel löschen ihren Durst.
They shall giue drinke to all the beasts of the fielde, and the wilde asses shall quench their thirst.
12 An ihnen wohnen die Vögel des Himmels, lassen aus den Zweigen heraus ihre Stimme erschallen.
By these springs shall the foules of the heauen dwell, and sing among the branches.
13 Der von seinem Söller her die Berge tränkt - von der Frucht deiner Werke sättigt sich die Erde.
He watereth the mountaines from his chambers, and the earth is filled with the fruite of thy workes.
14 Der Gras sprossen läßt für das Vieh und Pflanzen zum Nutzen der Menschen, indem er Brotkorn aus der Erde hervorgehen läßt
He causeth grasse to growe for the cattell, and herbe for the vse of man, that he may bring forth bread out of the earth,
15 und Wein, der des Menschen Herz erfreut, und indem er ihr Angesicht von Öl erglänzen läßt und Brot giebt, das das Herz des Menschen stärkt.
And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oyle to make the face to shine, and bread that strengtheneth mans heart.
16 Es sättigen sich die Bäume Jahwes, die Cedern des Libanon, die er gepflanzt hat,
The high trees are satisfied, euen the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted,
17 woselbst die Vögel nisten; auf den Cypressen hat der Storch sein Haus.
That ye birdes may make their nestes there: the storke dwelleth in the firre trees.
18 Die hohen Berge sind der Steinböcke, die Felsen der Klippdachse Zuflucht.
The high mountaines are for the goates: the rockes are a refuge for the conies.
19 Er hat den Mond zur Bestimmung von Zeiträumen geschaffen; die Sonne kennt ihren Untergang.
He appoynted the moone for certaine seasons: the sunne knoweth his going downe.
20 Wirkst du Finsternis, so wird es Nacht; in ihr regen sich alle Tiere des Waldes.
Thou makest darkenesse, and it is night, wherein all the beastes of the forest creepe forth.
21 Die jungen Löwen brüllen nach Fraß, indem sie von Gott ihre Nahrung verlangen.
The lions roare after their praye, and seeke their meate at God.
22 Wenn die Sonne aufgeht, ziehen sie sich zurück und lagern sich in ihrer Behausung.
When the sunne riseth, they retire, and couche in their dennes.
23 Der Mensch geht aus an sein Werk und an seine Arbeit bis zum Abend.
Then goeth man forth to his worke, and to his labour vntill the euening.
24 Wie sind deiner Werke so viel, Jahwe! Du hast sie alle in Weisheit geschaffen; die Erde ist voll von deinen Geschöpfen.
O Lord, howe manifolde are thy workes! in wisdome hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
25 Da ist das Meer, groß und weit nach beiden Seiten, darin ein Gewimmel ohne Zahl, kleine und große Tiere.
So is this sea great and wide: for therein are things creeping innumerable, both small beastes and great.
26 Daselbst gehen Schiffe, der Leviathan, den du geschaffen hast, darin zu spielen.
There goe the shippes, yea, that Liuiathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.
27 Sie alle warten auf dich, daß du ihnen zu seiner Zeit ihre Speise gebest.
All these waite vpon thee, that thou maiest giue them foode in due season.
28 Du giebst ihnen, sie lesen auf; du thust deine Hand auf, sie sättigen sich mit Gutem.
Thou giuest it to them, and they gather it: thou openest thine hand, and they are filled with good things.
29 Du verbirgst dein Antlitz, sie werden bestürzt; du ziehst ihren Odem ein, sie verhauchen und werden wieder zu Erde.
But if thou hide thy face, they are troubled: if thou take away their breath, they dye and returne to their dust.
30 Du entsendest deinen Odem, sie werden geschaffen, und du erneust das Angesicht der Erde.
Againe if thou send forth thy spirit, they are created, and thou renuest the face of the earth.
31 Die Herrlichkeit Jahwes währt ewig, Jahwe freut sich seiner Werke!
Glory be to the Lord for euer: let the Lord reioyce in his workes.
32 der die Erde anblickt, daß sie erzittert, die Berge anrührt, daß sie rauchen.
He looketh on the earth and it trembleth: he toucheth the mountaines, and they smoke.
33 Ich will Jahwe singen mein Leben lang, meinem Gotte lobsingen, so lange ich bin.
I will sing vnto the Lord all my life: I will prayse my God, while I liue.
34 Möge ihm mein Dichten wohlgefallen; ich freue mich Jahwes!
Let my wordes be acceptable vnto him: I will reioyce in the Lord.
35 Möchten die Sünder von der Erde verschwinden, und die Gottlosen nicht mehr sein. Preise, meine Seele, Jahwe! Rühmet Jah!
Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and the wicked till there be no more: O my soule, prayse thou the Lord. Prayse ye the Lord.
