Sprueche 15
1 Eine gelinde Antwort stillt den Grimm, aber ein verletzendes Wort erregt den Zorn.
A soft answer turneth away fury; but a mortifying word stirreth up anger.
2 Der Weisen Zunge träufelt Erkenntnis, aber der Thoren Mund sprudelt Narrheit aus.
The tongue of the wise maketh knowledge acceptable; but the mouth of fools sputtereth out folly.
3 Allerorten sind die Augen Jahwes, überwachen beständig die Bösen und die Guten.
In every place are the eyes of the Lord, looking on the bad and the good.
4 Gelindigkeit der Zunge ist ein Lebensbaum, aber Verkehrtheit an ihr bewirkt Herzeleid.
A healing [word] of the tongue is a tree of life; but perverseness therein is a breach to the spirit.
5 Der Narr verschmäht die Zucht seines Vaters, wer aber Rüge beachtet, handelt klug.
A fool contemneth the correction of his father; but he that observeth admonition will become prudent.
6 In des Frommen Haus ist Vorrat in Fülle, aber in dem Einkommen des Gottlosen ist Zerrüttung.
In the house of the righteous there is much treasure; but in the income of the wicked is trouble.
7 Die Lippen der Weisen streuen Erkenntnis aus, aber der Thoren Herz ist verkehrt.
The lips of the wise scatter knowledge; but the heart of fools is not reliable.
8 Das Opfer der Gottlosen ist ein Greuel für Jahwe, aber der Rechtschaffenen Gebet gefällt ihm wohl.
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination of the Lord: but, the prayer of the upright [obtaineth] his favor.
9 Ein Greuel für Jahwe ist der Gottlosen Weg; wer aber der Gerechtigkeit nachjagt, den liebt er.
An abomination of the Lord is the way of the wicked; but him that pursueth righteousness will he love.
10 Böse Züchtigung widerfährt dem, der den rechten Pfad verläßt; wer Rüge haßt, muß sterben.
An evil correction is [destined] for him that forsaketh the [right] path; he that hateth admonition will die.
11 Unterwelt und Abgrund liegen offen vor Jahwe, wie viel mehr die Herzen der Menschen! (Sheol h7585)
The nether world and corruption are open before the Lord: how much more then the hearts of the children of men! (Sheol h7585)
12 Der Spötter liebt nicht, daß man ihn zurechtweise; zu den Weisen begiebt er sich nicht.
A scorner loveth not that one should admonish him: unto the wise doth he not go.
13 Ein fröhliches Herz macht das Angesicht freundlich, aber bei Herzenskummer ist das Gemüt niedergeschlagen.
A merry heart cheereth up the countenance; but when the heart feeleth pain the spirit is depressed.
14 Des Verständigen Herz sucht Erkenntnis, aber der Thoren Mund geht auf Narrheit aus.
The heart of the man of understanding seeketh knowledge; but the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.
15 Ein Elender hat nie einen guten Tag; wer aber wohlgemut ist, hält immerdar ein fröhliches Gastmahl.
All the days of the afflicted are evil; but he that is of a cheerful heart hath a continual feast.
16 Besser wenig in der Furcht Jahwes, als ein großer Schatz und Unruhe dabei.
Better is little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure and confusion therewith.
17 Besser ein Gericht Kohl und Liebe dazu, als ein gemästeter Ochs und Haß dabei.
Better is an allowance of herbs when love is there, than a stall-fed ox and hatred therewith.
18 Ein hitziger Mann erregt Zank, aber ein Langmütiger stillt den Hader.
A man of fury stirreth up strife; but he that is slow to anger assuageth contention.
19 Des Faulen Weg ist wie eine Dornhecke, aber der Rechtschaffenen Pfad ist wohl gebahnt.
The way of the slothful man is like a hedge of thorns; but the path of the upright is a levelled [road].
20 Ein weiser Sohn macht dem Vater Freude, aber ein Thor von einem Menschen verachtet seine Mutter.
A wise son causeth his father to rejoice; but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21 Die Narrheit ist dem Unverständigen eine Freude, aber ein Mann von Einsicht geht den geraden Weg.
Folly is joy to him that is void of sense; but a man of understanding walketh straight forward.
22 Die Anschläge werden zunichte, wo Vorbesprechung fehlt; sind aber der Berater viele, so kommen sie zustande.
Plans are frustrated without consultation; but through a multitude of counsellors canst thou maintain thyself.
23 Freude erwächst einem Mann durch die Antwort seines Mundes, und ein Wort zu seiner Zeit - wie ist es so schön!
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth; and a word [spoken] at the proper time, how good is it!
24 Der Pfad des Lebens geht aufwärts für den Klugen, damit er nicht in die Unterwelt drunten gerate. (Sheol h7585)
The path of life [leadeth] upward for the intelligent, in order that he may avoid the nether world beneath. (Sheol h7585)
25 Der Hoffärtigen Haus wird Jahwe wegreißen, aber der Witwe Grenze wird er feststellen.
The Lord, will tear down the house of the proud; but he will set up firmly the boundary [-stone] of the widow.
26 Ein Greuel für Jahwe sind arge Anschläge, aber rein sind ihm huldvolle Reden.
An abomination of the Lord are the thoughts of the bad man; but pleasant speeches are pure [before him].
27 Sein eignes Haus verstört, wer nach ungerechtem Gewinne geizt; wer aber Geschenke haßt, der wird leben.
He that is greedy after gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts will live.
28 Des Frommen Herz überlegt, was zu antworten ist, aber der Gottlosen Mund sprudelt Bosheiten aus.
The heart of the righteous reflecteth to answer; but the mouth of the wicked sputtereth out evil things.
29 Jahwe ist fern von den Gottlosen, aber der Frommen Gebet erhört er.
The Lord is far from the wicked; but the prayer of the righteous doth he hear.
30 Freundlicher Blick erfreut das Herz; frohe Kunde labt das Gebein.
[What is pleasant to] the light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: a good report giveth marrow to the bones.
31 Ein Ohr, das Leben wirkende Rüge hört, wird inmitten der Weisen weilen.
The ear that heareth the admonition of life will ever abide in the midst of the wise.
32 Wer Zucht fahren läßt, verwirkt sein Leben; wer aber auf Rüge hört, erwirbt Verstand.
He that rejecteth correction despiseth his own soul; but he that heareth admonition acquireth intelligence.
33 Die Furcht Jahwes ist Zucht zur Weisheit, und der Ehre geht Demut voran.
The fear of the Lord is the correction for wisdom; and before honor there must come humility.
