4 Mose 4
1 Und Jahwe redete mit Mose und Aaron also:
Then Yahweh said to Moses/me,
2 Nehmt unter den Söhnen Levis die Gesamtzahl der Söhne Kahaths auf, Geschlecht für Geschlecht, Familie für Familie,
“Write down the names of the men who belong to the clans descended from Levi.
3 von dreißig Jahren an und darüber bis zu fünfzig Jahren, alle, die sich dem Dienst unterziehen und Geschäfte am Offenbarungszelte verrichten.
Write the names of the men who are between 30 and 50 years old. These will be men who will work at the Sacred Tent.
4 Dies ist die Verrichtung der Söhne Kahaths am Offenbarungszelte: die hochheiligen Dinge.
“The work of these descendants of Kohath will be [to take care of] the sacred items [that are used when the people worship] at the Sacred Tent.
5 Es sollen aber Aaron und seine Söhne, wenn sich das Lager in Bewegung setzt, hineingehen, den verdeckenden Vorhang herabnehmen und mit ihm die Gesetzeslade umhüllen.
When you Israelis move to another location, Aaron and his sons must enter the tent to take down the curtain that separates the Very Holy Place from the other part of the Sacred Tent. They must cover the sacred chest with that curtain.
6 Sodann sollen sie eine Decke von Seekuhfell darauf legen und oben darüber ein ganz aus blauem Purpur bestehendes Tuch breiten und die Stangen einstecken.
Then they must cover that with a nice covering made from the skins of goats. Over that they must spread a blue cloth. Then they must insert into the rings on the chest the poles [for carrying it].
7 Über den Schautisch aber sollen sie ein Tuch von blauem Purpur breiten und darauf die Schüsseln, Schalen und Becher, sowie die Kannen zum Trankopfer setzen; auch das ständig aufgelegte Brot soll darauf liegen.
“Then they must put a blue cloth over the table on which the priests put the sacred bread. On top of the cloth they must put the bowls [for incense], the pans, the other dishes, the jars for [the wine that will be] offered as a sacrifice, and the sacred bread.
8 Über alles dieses aber sollen sie ein Tuch von Karmesin breiten, dieses mit einer Decke von Seekuhfell überdecken und sodann die Stangen einstecken.
Over all of this they must spread a scarlet/red cloth. Finally, they must put on top a nice covering made from the skins of goats. Then they must insert into the [rings at the corners of] the tables the poles [for carrying it].
9 Weiter sollen sie ein Tuch von blauem Purpur nehmen und damit den Leuchter überdecken samt seinen Lampen, seinen Lichtscheren und Pfannen und allen seinen Ölgefäßen, mit denen man ihn zu besorgen pflegt;
“Then with another blue cloth they must cover the lampstand, the lamps, the lamp snuffers, the trays, and the special jars of [olive] oil [to burn in the lamps].
10 sodann sollen sie ihn samt allen seinen Geräten in eine Hülle von Seekuhfell thun und auf die Trage legen.
They must cover the lampstand and all the other items with a nice covering made from the skins of goats. They must place all these things on a frame for carrying them.
11 Über den goldenen Altar aber sollen sie ein Tuch von blauem Purpur breiten, ihn mit einer Decke von Seekuhfell überdecken und die Stangen einstecken.
“Then they must spread another blue cloth over the gold altar [which is used for burning] incense. Over this they must spread a nice covering made from the skins of goats. Then they must insert into [the rings of] that altar the poles for carrying it.
12 Sodann sollen sie alle für den Dienst erforderlichen Geräte, mit denen man den Dienst im Heiligtume zu besorgen pflegt, nehmen und in ein Tuch von blauem Purpur thun; dann sollen sie sie mit einer Decke von Seekuhfell überdecken und auf die Trage legen.
“They must take all the other items that are inside the Sacred Tent and wrap them in a blue cloth, cover that with a nice covering made from the skins of goats, and place all that on a frame for carrying it.
13 Weiter sollen sie den Altar von der Asche reinigen und ein Tuch von rotem Purpur über ihn breiten.
“Then they must remove the ashes from the altar [on which they have burned sacrifices]. Then they must cover the altar with a purple cloth.
14 Auf dieses sollen sie alle die Geräte legen, mit denen man den Dienst an ihm zu besorgen pflegt, die Pfannen, Gabeln, Schaufeln und Becken, kurz alle zum Altar gehörigen Geräte; darüber sollen sie eine Hülle von Seekuhfell breiten und die Stangen einstecken.
Then they must spread on top of the cloth all the items used at the altar—the pans [for carrying the hot coals], the meat forks, the shovels, the bowls [for containing the blood to sprinkle on the people], and all the other containers. Then they must spread over all those things a nice covering made from the skins of goats. Then they must insert into [the rings at the sides of] the altar the poles [for carrying it].
15 Und wenn Aaron und seine Söhne mit der Einhüllung der heiligen Dinge und aller der heiligen Geräte zu Ende sind, wenn sich das Lager in Bewegung setzt, so sollen darnach die Söhne Kahaths kommen, um sie zu tragen; aber berühren dürfen sie die heiligen Dinge nicht, sonst müssen sie sterben. Das ist's, was die Söhne Kahaths vom Offenbarungszelte zu tragen haben.
“Then Aaron and his sons have finished covering all these sacred things, the Israeli people will be ready to move [to a new location]. The descendants of Kohath must come and carry all the sacred things to [the next place] where you Israelis will set up your tents. But the descendants of Kohath must not touch any of these sacred items, because they will [immediately] die [if they touch them]. They are the ones who will carry these things, [but they must not touch them].
16 Eleasar aber, dem Sohne Aarons, des Priesters, ist übertragen das Öl für den Leuchter, das wohlriechende Räucherwerk, das regelmäßige Speisopfer und das Salböl, sowie die Aufsicht über die ganze Wohnung und alles, was sich in ihr befindet an heiligen Gegenständen und den dazugehörigen Geräten.
“Aaron’s son Eleazar will have the work of taking care of the [olive] oil for the lamps, the nice-smelling incense, the grain which will be burned on the altar each day, and the [olive] oil for anointing [the priests]. Eleazar is the one who will supervise the work that is done at the Sacred Tent and the men who take care of everything that is in it.”
17 Und Jahwe redete mit Mose und Aaron also:
“Then Yahweh said to Aaron and Moses/me,
18 Laßt es nicht geschehen, daß der Stamm der Geschlechter der Kahathiter mitten aus den Leviten weggetilgt werde.
“When the descendants of Kohath approach the sacred items in the Sacred Tent [to take them to another location], Aaron and his sons must always go in with them and show each of them what work to do and what things to carry. But the descendants of Kohath must not enter the Sacred Tent [at any other time] and look at the things that are in it. If they do that, I will get rid of all the descendants of Kohath.”
19 Vielmehr thut das für sie, damit sie am Leben bleiben und nicht sterben müssen, wenn sie sich den hochheiligen Dingen nähern: Aaron und seine Söhne sollen hineingehen und sie Mann für Mann anstellen bei dem, was sie zu verrichten und was sie zu tragen haben,
20 daß sie nicht etwa hineingehen, um auch nur einen Augenblick die heiligen Dinge zu sehen, da sie sonst sterben müssen.
21 Und Jahwe redete mit Mose also:
Yahweh also said to Moses/me,
22 Nimm nun die Gesamtzahl auch der Söhne Gersons auf, Familie für Familie, Geschlecht für Geschlecht;
“Write down the names of all the men who belong to the clans descended from the Gershon [division of the descendants of Levi].
23 von dreißig Jahren an und darüber bis zu fünfzig Jahren sollst du sie mustern, alle, die sich dem unterziehen, Dienst zu thun und Verrichtungen am Offenbarungszelte zu besorgen.
Write the names of the men who are between 30 and 50 years old. They will be men who will also work at the Sacred Tent.
24 Dies ist die Verrichtung der Geschlechter der Gersoniter - was sie zu verrichten und zu tragen haben.
“This is the work that they must do and the things that they must carry [when you move to a new location]:
25 Sie haben zu tragen die Teppiche der Wohnung und das Offenbarungszelt, seine Decke und die Decke von Seekuhfell, die oben darüber liegt, sowie den Vorhang vor der Thüre des Offenbarungszeltes,
They must carry the curtains of the Sacred Tent; they must carry the Sacred Tent and all the things that cover it, including the nice outer covering made from skins of goats, and the curtain which is at the entrance of the Sacred Tent.
26 ferner die Vorhänge des Vorhofs und den Vorhang vor der Thoröffnung des Vorhofs, der die Wohnung und den Altar rings umgiebt, samt seinen Seilen und allen Geräten, die es dabei zu besorgen giebt; und alles, was dabei zu thun ist, das sollen sie besorgen.
They must also carry the curtains that form the wall that surrounds the courtyard that surrounds the Sacred Tent and the altar, the curtain that is at the entrance to the courtyard, and the ropes [that fasten the curtains]. They must also do the packing and loading of these things.
27 Nach dem Befehl Aarons und seiner Söhne sollen alle Verrichtungen der Gersoniter stattfinden, bezüglich alles dessen, was sie zu tragen, und alles dessen, was sie zu verrichten haben; und zwar sollt ihr ihnen alles, was sie zu tragen haben, namentlich anweisen.
Aaron and his sons will supervise the work of all the descendants of Gershom. That work includes carrying those things and doing other work that is necessary for moving them. They must tell each of the descendants of Gershom what things they must carry.
28 Dies ist's, was die Geschlechter der Gersoniter am Offenbarungszelte zu verrichten haben, und zwar stehe ihr Dienst unter der Leitung Ithamars, des Sohnes Aarons, des Priesters.
Those are the tasks that you must give to the men who belong to the clans descended from Gershom. Aaron’s son Ithamar is the one who will supervise their work.
29 Auch die Söhne Meraris sollst du mustern, Geschlecht für Geschlecht, Familie für Familie;
Count also the men who belong to the clans descended from Levi’s son Merari.
30 von dreißig Jahren an und darüber bis zu fünfzig Jahren sollst du sie mustern, alle, die sich dem Dienst unterziehen und die Verrichtungen für das Offenbarungszelt besorgen.
Write the names of the men who are between 30 and 50 years old. They will be men who will also work at the Sacred Tent.
31 Und das ist's, was ihnen zu tragen obliegt, was sie alles vom Offenbarungszelte zu besorgen haben: die Bretter der Wohnung, ihre Riegel, Säulen und Füße;
Their work will be to carry the frames that hold up the tent, the crossbars, the posts [that hold up the curtains], and the bases.
32 ferner die Säulen des Vorhofs ringsum mit ihren Füßen, Pflöcken und Seilen, mit allen ihren Geräten und allem, was es dabei zu besorgen giebt. Und zwar sollt ihr ihnen die Geräte, die zu tragen ihnen obliegt, namentlich anweisen.
They must also carry the posts for [the curtains that form the walls of] the courtyard and the bases for the posts, the tent pegs, and the ropes [to fasten the curtains]. Tell each man what things he must carry.
33 Das ist die Verrichtung der Geschlechter der Söhne Meraris, alles, was sie vom Offenbarungszelt unter der Aufsicht Ithamars, des Sohnes Aarons, des Priesters, zu besorgen haben.
Those are the tasks that the descendants of Merari must do at the Sacred Tent. Aaron’s son Ithamar is the one who will supervise them.”
34 Und Mose, Aaron und die Fürsten der Gemeinde musterten die Kahathiter, Geschlecht für Geschlecht und Familie für Familie,
So Aaron and Moses/I and the Israeli leaders counted the descendants of Kohath, writing also the names of their clans and family groups.
35 von dreißig Jahren an und darüber bis zu fünfzig Jahren, alle, die sich dem Dienste - den Verrichtungen am Offenbarungszelt - unterzogen.
They/We counted all the men who were between 30 and 50 years old who were able to work at the Sacred Tent.
36 Es beliefen sich aber die Geschlecht für Geschlecht aus ihnen Gemusterten auf 2750.
The total was 2,750 men.
37 Das sind die aus den Geschlechtern der Kahathiter Gemusterten, alle, die am Offenbarungszelte Dienst thaten, welche Mose und Aaron musterten gemäß dem Befehle Jahwes durch Mose.
They were the descendants of Kohath who [were able to] work at the Sacred Tent. Aaron and Moses/I counted them just as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me.
38 Und was die betrifft, die aus den Söhnen Gersons Geschlecht für Geschlecht und Familie für Familie gemustert waren,
They/We also counted the descendants of Gershon, writing also the names of their clans and family groups.
39 von dreißig Jahren an und darüber bis zu fünfzig Jahren, alle, die sich dem Dienste - den Verrichtungen am Offenbarungszelt - unterzogen,
They/We counted all the men who were between 30 and 50 years old who were able to work at the Sacred Tent.
40 so beliefen sich die Geschlecht für Geschlecht, Familie für Familie aus ihnen Gemusterten auf 2630.
The total was 2,630 men.
41 Das sind die aus den Geschlechtern der Söhne Gersons Gemusterten, alle, die am Offenbarungszelt Dienst thaten, welche Mose und Aaron musterten gemäß dem Befehle Jahwes.
They were the descendants of Gershon who [were able to] work at the Sacred Tent. Aaron and Moses/I counted them as Yahweh had commanded.
42 Und was die betrifft, die aus den Geschlechtern der Söhne Meraris Geschlecht für Geschlecht, Familie für Familie gemustert waren,
They/We also counted the descendants of Merari, writing also the names of their clans and family groups.
43 von dreißig Jahren an und darüber bis zu fünfzig Jahren, alle, die sich dem Dienste - den Verrichtungen am Offenbarungszelt - unterzogen,

44 so beliefen sich die Geschlecht für Geschlecht aus ihnen Gemusterten auf 3200.
The total was 3,200 men.
45 Das sind die aus den Geschlechtern der Söhne Meraris Gemusterten, die Mose und Aaron musterten gemäß dem Befehle Jahwes durch Mose.
They were the descendants of Merari who [were able to] work. Aaron and Moses/I counted them as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me.
46 Was aber sämtliche Gemusterte betrifft, die Mose, Aaron und die Fürsten Israels Geschlecht für Geschlecht und Familie für Familie unter den Leviten musterten,
So Aaron and Moses/I and the Israeli leaders counted all the descendants of Levi, writing also the names of their clans and family groups.
47 von dreißig Jahren an und darüber bis zu fünfzig Jahren, alle die sich dem unterzogen, am OffenbarungszeIte dienstliche Verrichtungen, sowie den Dienst des Tragens zu besorgen,
They/We counted all the men who were between 30 and 50 years old. They were ones who [were able to] work at the Sacred Tent and who carried the tent and everything that was connected with it.
48 so beliefen sich die aus ihnen Gemusterten auf 8580.
The total was 8,580 men.
49 Gemäß dem Befehle Jahwes stellte man sie unter der Aufsicht Moses Mann für Mann bei dem an, was sie zu besorgen und zu tragen hatten, wie Jahwe Mose befohlen hatte.
They/We completed the counting [of all the descendants of Levi], as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me. And they/we told each man what work he was to do and what things he must carry [when they moved to a new location].
