Matthaeus 4
1 Hierauf wurde Jesus vom Geiste in die Wüste geführt, um vom Teufel versucht zu werden.
Then was Jesus led up by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil.
2 Und als er vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte gefastet hatte, hungerte ihn zuletzt.
And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward hungry.
3 Und der Versucher trat herzu und sagte zu ihm: wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, so sprich, daß diese Steine Brot werden.
And the tempter came to him and said: If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.
4 Er aber antwortete also: es steht geschrieben: nicht vom Brot allein soll der Mensch leben, sondern von jedem Wort, welches durch Gottes Mund ausgeht.
But he answered and said: It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.
5 Hierauf nimmt ihn der Teufel mit sich in die heilige Stadt und stellt ihn auf die Zinne des Tempels,
Then the devil took him into the holy city, and placed him on the pinnacle of the temple,
6 und sagt zu ihm: wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, so stürze dich hinab; denn es steht geschrieben: er wird seinen Engeln Befehl geben deinetwegen und sie werden dich auf den Händen tragen, daß du deinen Fuß nicht an einen Stein stoßest.
and said to him: If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written: He will give his angels charge concerning you; and in their hands shall they take you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
7 Sagte Jesus zu ihm: wiederum steht geschrieben: du sollst den Herrn deinen Gott nicht versuchen.
Jesus said to him: It is again written, You shall not put the Lord your God to the proof.
8 Wiederum nimmt ihn der Teufel mit auf einen sehr hohen Berg und zeigt ihm alle Reiche der Welt und ihre Herrlichkeit
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them,
9 und sagte zu ihm: dies alles will ich dir geben, wenn du niederfällst und mir huldigst.
and said to him: All these things will I give you, if you will fall down and worship me.
10 Hierauf sagt Jesus zu ihm: entweiche, Satan; denn es steht geschrieben: du sollst dem Herrn deinem Gott huldigen und ihn allein anbeten.
Then Jesus said to him: Get behind me, Satan, for it is written: You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.
11 Hierauf läßt ihn der Teufel, und siehe, Engel kamen herzu und dienten ihm.
Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him.
12 Als er aber hörte, daß Johannes verhaftet sei, zog er sich zurück nach Galiläa;
Now when Jesus heard that John was delivered up; he withdrew into Galilee;
13 und er verließ Nazara und zog nach Kapernaum, das am See liegt im Gebiete von Sebulon und Naphthali,
and, leaving Nazareth, he went and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea, in the borders of Zebulon and Naphtali,
14 damit erfüllt würde, was gesagt ist in dem Wort des Propheten Jesaias:
that the word might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:
15 Land Sebulon und Land Naphthali, am Meer hin, und jenseit des Jordan, Galiläa der Heiden,
The land of Zebulon, and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
16 das Volk, welches in Finsternis sitzt, ein großes Licht hat es erblickt, und denen, die im Todes-Land und Schatten sitzen, ein Licht ist ihnen aufgegangen.
the people that sat in darkness saw great light; and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has risen.
17 Von da an begann Jesus zu verkünden und zu sagen: Thut Buße, denn das Reich der Himmel ist herbeigekommen.
From that time Jesus began to preach and to say: Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
18 Da er aber am See von Galiläa wandelte, sah er zwei Brüder, Simon, genannt Petrus, und seinen Bruder Andreas, wie sie ein Fangnetz in den See warfen; denn sie waren Fischer.
And as he was walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, throwing a net into the sea, for they were fishers.
19 Und er sagt zu ihnen: kommet mir nach, so will ich euch zu Menschenfischern machen.
And he said to them: Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.
20 Sie aber ließen alsbald die Netze und folgten ihm.
And they immediately left their nets and followed him.
21 Und er gieng weiter von da und sah zwei andere Brüder, Jakobus, den Sohn des Zebedäus, und seinen Bruder Johannes, im Schiff mit ihrem Vater Zebedäus an der Ausbesserung der Netze; und er berief sie.
And going on thence, he saw other two brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
22 Sie aber verließen alsbald das Schiff und ihren Vater, und folgten ihm.
And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
23 Und er zog umher in ganz Galiläa und lehrte in ihren Synagogen, und verkündete das Evangelium vom Reich, und heilte alle Krankheit und alle Gebrechen unter dem Volk,
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease, and every kind of sickness among the people.
24 und es gieng sein Ruf aus über ganz Syria; und sie brachten zu ihm alle die ein Leiden hatten, mit mancherlei Krankheiten und schmerzhaften Uebeln Behaftete, Dämonische, Mondsüchtige und Gelähmte, und er heilte sie.
And his fame went abroad into all Syria. And they brought to him all that were sick, those who were afflicted with various diseases and pains, and those who were possessed with demons, and lunatics, and paralytics; and he cured them.
25 Und es folgten ihm große Massen von Galiläa und der Dekapolis und Jerusalem und Judäa und dem Land jenseit des Jordan.
And many multitudes followed him from Galilee, and Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.
