Matthaeus 21
1 Und als sie sich Jerusalem näherten und nach Bethphage kamen an den Oelberg, hierauf sandte Jesus zwei Jünger ab
When they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethsphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples ahead,
2 und sagte zu ihnen: gehet in das Dorf euch gegenüber, so werdet ihr sogleich eine Eselin angebunden finden und ein Füllen bei ihr, die bindet los und bringt sie mir.
telling them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with it. Untie them and bring them to me.
3 Und wenn jemand etwas zu euch sagt, so saget: der Herr bedarf ihrer, so wird er sie alsbald ziehen lassen.
If anyone says anything to you, say, ‘The Lord has need of them.’ And immediately he will send them.”
4 Dies geschah aber, damit erfüllt würde, was gesagt ist durch das Wort des Propheten:
Now all this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:
5 Saget der Tochter Sion: siehe, dein König kommt zu dir sanftmüthig und reitend auf einem Esel und einem Füllen, dem Sprößling des Saumthieres.
“Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, yoʋr king is coming to yoʋ, humble and mounted on a donkey, and a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’”
6 Die Jünger aber, nachdem sie hingegangen und gethan, wie ihnen der Herr befohlen,
So the disciples went and did just as Jesus had directed them.
7 brachten die Eselin und das Füllen, und legten die Kleider darauf, und er setzte sich auf dieselben.
They brought the donkey and the colt and laid on them their garments, and Jesus sat on them.
8 Viele von der Menge aber breiteten ihre Kleider auf den Weg, andere aber hieben Zweige von den Bäumen und breiteten sie auf den Weg.
A very large crowd spread their garments on the road, and others cut down branches from the trees and also spread them on the road.
9 Die Massen aber, die ihm vorausgiengen, und die nachfolgten, riefen: Hosianna dem Sohn Davids, gesegnet sei, der da kommt im Namen des Herrn, Hosianna in der Höhe.
The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed were crying out, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
10 Und als er in Jerusalem einzog, kam die ganze Stadt in Bewegung, und es hieß: wer ist das?
As he came into Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”
11 Die Massen aber sagten: das ist der Prophet Jesus, der von Nazaret in Galiläa.
So the crowds were saying, “This is the prophet Jesus, who is from Nazareth of Galilee.”
12 Und Jesus trat in den Tempel und trieb alle, die im Tempel verkauften und kauften, hinaus, und warf die Tische der Wechsler um, sowie die Bänke der Taubenverkäufer,
Then Jesus entered the courts of God's temple and drove out all who were selling and buying there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves.
13 und sagt zu ihnen: es steht geschrieben: mein Haus soll ein Bethaus heißen, ihr aber macht es zu einer Räuberhöhle.
And he said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers.”
14 Und es kamen zu ihm Blinde und Lahme im Tempel, und er heilte sie.
Then the lame and the blind came to him in the temple courts, and he healed them.
15 Als aber die Hohenpriester und die Schriftgelehrten seine wunderbaren Thaten sahen, und wie die Kinder im Tempel riefen: Hosianna dem Sohn Davids, wurden sie unwillig
But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did and the children crying out in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant
16 und sagten zu ihm: hörst du, was diese sagen? Jesus aber sagt zu ihnen: ja. Habt ihr noch nie gelesen: aus dem Munde der Unmündigen und Säuglinge hast du dir Lob bereitet?
and said to him, “Do yoʋ hear what these children are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes, have you never read, ‘Out of the mouths of babies and nursing infants yoʋ have prepared praise’?”
17 Und er verließ sie und gieng zur Stadt hinaus nach Bethania, und übernachtete daselbst.
And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and spent the night there.
18 Da er aber des Morgens frühe in die Stadt zurückkehrte, hungerte ihn.
Early in the morning, as Jesus was returning to the city, he was hungry.
19 Und er sah einen Feigenbaum am Wege, und trat zu demselben hin, und fand nichts als Blätter an ihm und sprach zu ihm: Nie mehr soll auf dir Frucht wachsen in Ewigkeit. Und plötzlich verdorrte der Feigenbaum. (aiōn g165)
Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, he came to it and found nothing on it but leaves. Then he said to it, “May there never be any fruit from yoʋ again!” And at once the fig tree withered. (aiōn g165)
20 Und da es die Jünger sahen, wunderten sie sich und sagten: wie ist der Feigenbaum so plötzlich verdorrt?
When the disciples saw it, they were amazed, saying, “How did the fig tree wither all at once?”
21 Jesus aber antwortete ihnen: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, wenn ihr Glauben habt und zweifelt nicht, so könnt ihr nicht nur das mit dem Feigenbaum machen, sondern ihr möget auch zu diesem Berg sagen: hebe dich weg und stürze dich ins Meer, so wird es geschehen;
Jesus answered them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.
22 und alles, was ihr im Gebete gläubig verlangt, sollt ihr empfangen.
And if you have faith, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
23 Und da er in den Tempel kam, traten die Hohenpriester und die Aeltesten des Volkes zu ihm, während er lehrte, und sagten: in welcher Vollmacht thust du das? und wer hat dir diese Vollmacht gegeben?
When he entered the temple courts, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching and said, “By what authority are yoʋ doing these things? And who gave yoʋ this authority?”
24 Jesus aber antwortete ihnen: ich will euch auch ein Wort fragen; sagt ihr mir das, so will ich euch auch sagen, in welcher Vollmacht ich dieses thue:
Jesus answered them, “I will also ask you one question. If you tell me the answer, I will also tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
25 Woher war die Taufe des Johannes? vom Himmel oder von Menschen? Sie aber überlegten bei sich selbst: sagen wir: vom Himmel, so sagt er uns: warum habt ihr ihm dann nicht geglaubt?
Where did John's authority to baptize come from? From heaven or from men?” So they discussed it among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say to us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’
26 Sagen wir aber: von Menschen, so haben wir die Menge zu fürchten; denn sie hielten alle an Johannes als einem Propheten.
But we are afraid of what the crowd might do if we say, ‘From men,’ for everyone regards John as a prophet.”
27 Und sie antworteten Jesus: wir wissen es nicht. Sagte auch er zu ihnen: so sage ich euch auch nicht, in welcher Vollmacht ich dieses thue.
So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” Then he said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
28 Was dünkt euch aber? Ein Mensch hatte zwei Kinder. Er kam zum ersten und sagte: Kind, gehe heute hin und arbeite im Weinberg.
“But what do you think? A man had two sons. He went to his first son and said, ‘Son, go work today in my vineyard.’
29 Er aber antwortete: ja, Herr, und gieng nicht hin.
His son answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went.
30 Er gieng aber zum andern und sprach ebenso zu ihm. Der aber antwortete: ich mag nicht. Nachher reute es ihn, und er gieng hin.
Then the man went to his second son and said the same thing. His second son answered, ‘I will go, sir,’ but he did not go.
31 Welcher von den zwei hat den Willen des Vaters gethan? Sagen sie: der zweite. Sagt Jesus zu ihnen: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, die Zöllner und die Dirnen kommen vor euch in das Reich Gottes.
Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to him, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.
32 Denn Johannes kam zu euch mit der Anweisung zur Gerechtigkeit, und ihr glaubtet ihm nicht; die Zöllner aber und die Dirnen glaubten ihm. Ihr aber sahet es und ließet es euch auch nachher nicht reuen, daß ihr ihm geglaubt hättet.
For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but tax collectors and prostitutes believed him. Yet even after you saw it, you did not change your minds and believe him.
33 Vernehmet ein anderes Gleichnis: Es war ein Hausherr, der pflanzte einen Weinberg, und setzte einen Zaun darum, und grub eine Kelter darin, und baute einen Turm. Und verdingte ihn an Weingärtner, und zog außer Lands.
“Listen to another parable: There was a master of a house who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a winepress in it, built a tower, leased it to farmers, and left the country.
34 Da aber die Zeit der Ernte nahte, sandte er seine Knechte an die Weingärtner, um seinen Ertrag in Empfang zu nehmen.
When the season for fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the farmers to receive his fruit.
35 Und die Weingärtner nahmen seine Knechte, und den einen schlugen sie, den anderen töteten sie, den dritten steinigten sie.
But the farmers seized his servants; they beat one, killed another, and stoned yet another.
36 Wiederum sandte er andere Knechte, mehr als das erstemal, und sie thaten ihnen ebenso.
Again he sent other servants, more than the first group. But the farmers treated them in the same way.
37 Zuletzt aber sandte er seinen Sohn zu ihnen und dachte: vor meinem Sohn werden sie sich scheuen.
Last of all, he sent them his son, saying, ‘They will have respect for my son.’
38 Die Weingärtner aber, wie sie den Sohn sahen, sprachen sie bei sich: das ist der Erbe: kommt laßt uns ihn töten und sein Erbe an uns ziehen.
But when the farmers saw the son, they said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take possession of his inheritance.’
39 Und sie nahmen ihn und schafften ihn hinaus aus dem Weinberg und töteten ihn.
So they took him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.
40 Wenn nun der Herr des Weinbergs kommt, was wird er diesen Weingärtnern thun?
Now when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those farmers?”
41 Sagen sie zu ihm: er wird die Uebelthäter übel umbringen, und den Weinberg wird er andern Weingärtnern geben, die ihm den Ertrag abliefern zu seiner Zeit.
They said to him, “He will bring those wretches to a wretched end and lease the vineyard to other farmers who will give him the fruits in their seasons.”
42 Sagt Jesus zu ihnen: habt ihr noch nie gelesen in den Schriften: der Stein, den die Bauleute verwarfen, der ist zum Eckstein geworden; vom Herrn ist er gekommen, und wunderbar ist er in unseren Augen?
Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord's doing, and it is amazing in our eyes’?
43 Darum sage ich euch: das Reich Gottes wird von euch genommen und einem Volke gegeben werden, das die Früchte desselben bringt.
Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.
44 Und wer auf diesen Stein fällt, wird zerschellen. Auf wen aber der Stein fällt, den wird er zermalmen.
He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.”
45 Und da die Hohenpriester und die Pharisäer seine Gleichnisse hörten, da erkannten sie, daß er sie meine,
When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus' parables, they knew he was speaking about them.
46 und sie trachteten ihn zu greifen, aber sie fürchteten die Massen, weil sie ihn als einen Propheten hielten.
Although they were looking for a way to arrest him, they were afraid of the crowds, because the people regarded him as a prophet.
