Johannes 16
1 Dieses habe ich zu euch geredet, damit ihr keinen Anstoß nehmet. Sie werden euch aus der Synagoge ausschließen.
I have spoken these things to you, so that ye may not be caused to stumble.
2 Ja es kommt die Stunde, daß jeder, der euch tötet, meint Gott einen Dienst zu widmen.
They will make you excommunicated from the synagogues. But the hour comes that every man who kills you will presume to be offering service to God.
3 Ja, das werden sie thun, weil sie den Vater nicht erkannt haben noch auch mich.
And they will do these things, because they have not known the Father nor me.
4 Aber ich habe euch dieses gesagt, damit wenn die Stunde kommt, ihr daran gedenket, daß ich es euch gesagt habe. Ich habe es euch nicht von Anfang gesagt, weil ich ja bei euch war.
But I have told you these things, so that when the hour comes, ye may remember that I told you of them. But I did not tell you these things from the beginning because I was with you.
5 Jetzt aber gehe ich hin zu dem, der mich gesandt hat. Nun frägt mich keiner von euch: wo gehst du hin?
But now I go to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, Where do thou go?
6 Sondern weil ich das zu euch geredet habe, ist euer Herz voll Trauer.
But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.
7 Aber ich sage euch die Wahrheit: es ist euch gut, daß ich hingehe. Denn wenn ich nicht fortgehe, so kommt der Fürsprecher nicht zu euch. Wenn ich aber hinziehe, werde ich ihn zu euch schicken.
Nevertheless I tell you the truth, it is expedient for you that I depart, for if I do not depart, the helper will not come to you. But whenever I go, I will send him to you.
8 Und wenn derselbe kommt, so wird er die Welt überweisen über Sünde, Gerechtigkeit und Gericht;
And having come, that will convict the world about sin, and about justice, and about judgment.
9 über Sünde: weil sie nicht an mich glauben;
About sin because they truly did not believe in me,
10 über Gerechtigkeit aber: weil ich zum Vater hingehe, und ihr mich nicht mehr schauet;
and about justice because I go to the Father, and ye see me no more,
11 über Gericht aber: weil der Herrscher dieser Welt gerichtet ist.
and about judgment because the ruler of this world has been judged.
12 Ich habe noch viel euch zu sagen, aber ihr könnet es jetzt nicht tragen.
I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 Wenn aber jener kommen wird, der Geist der Wahrheit, wird er euch in die ganze Wahrheit einführen; denn er wird nicht von sich selber reden, sondern was er hört, das wird er reden, und was da kommt, wird er euch verkündigen.
However when that, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. For he will not speak from himself, but as many things as he may hear, he will speak. And he will report to you the things that are coming.
14 Der wird mich verherrlichen; denn er wird es von dem Meinigen nehmen und euch verkünden.
He will glorify me because he will receive from me, and will report to you.
15 Alles, was der Vater hat, ist mein; darum habe ich gesagt, daß er es von dem Meinigen nimmt, und euch verkünden wird.
All things, as many as the Father has are mine. Because of this I said that he takes from me, and will report to you.
16 Eine kleine Weile, so schauet ihr mich nicht mehr, und wiederum eine kleine Weile, so werdet ihr mich sehen.
A little while, and ye do not see me. Again a little while, and ye will look at me, because I go to the Father.
17 Da sagten etliche von seinen Jüngern zu einander: was ist das, was er uns sagt: eine kleine Weile, so schauet ihr mich nicht, und wieder eine kleine Weile, so werdet ihr mich sehen? und: ich gehe zum Vater?
Therefore some of his disciples said among themselves, What is this that he says to us, A little while, and ye do not see me, and, Again a little while, and ye will look at me, and, Because I go to the Father?
18 Da sagten sie: was meint er mit dem: eine kleine Weile? wir verstehen nicht, was er redet.
They said therefore What is this that he says, A little while? We know not what he says.
19 Jesus erkannte, daß sie ihn gerne gefragt hätten, und sagte zu ihnen: ihr forschet darüber untereinander, daß ich gesagt habe: eine kleine Weile, so schauet ihr mich nicht; und wieder eine kleine Weile, so werdet ihr mich sehen?
Therefore Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, Do ye inquire among yourselves about this, because I said, A little while, and ye do not see me, and, Again a little while, and ye will look at me?
20 Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: ihr werdet weinen und klagen, die Welt aber wird sich freuen; ihr werdet bekümmert sein, doch eure Kümmernis wird zur Freude ausschlagen.
Truly, truly, I say to you, that ye will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. Ye will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will become into joy.
21 Das Weib, wenn sie gebärt, ist bekümmert, weil ihre Stunde gekommen ist. Wenn sie aber das Kind geboren hat, gedenkt sie der Drangsal nicht mehr, um der Freude willen, daß ein Mensch geboren ist.
When a woman brings forth she has pain because her hour has come. But when she has given birth to the child she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy that a man was born into the world.
22 So habt auch ihr wohl jetzt Kummer, ich werde euch aber wieder sehen, und euer Herz wird sich freuen, dann wird niemand eure Freude euch nehmen.
And now therefore indeed ye have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no man takes your joy away from you.
23 Und an jenem Tage werdet ihr mich um nichts angehen: wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: wenn ihr den Vater etwas bitten werdet, wird er es euch geben auf meinen Namen.
And in that day ye will ask me nothing. Truly, truly, I say to you, that as many things as ye may ask the Father in my name, he will give you.
24 Bis daher habt ihr nichts gebeten auf meinen Namen. Bittet, so werdet ihr empfangen, damit eure Freude völlig sei.
Until now ye have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and ye will receive, so that your joy may be made full.
25 Dies habe ich in Bildern zu euch geredet. Es kommt eine Stunde, da ich nicht mehr in Bildern zu euch reden, sondern offen euch vom Vater berichten werde.
These things I have spoken to you in veiled words. The hour comes, when I will no more speak to you in veiled words, but will inform you plainly about the Father.
26 An jenem Tage werdet ihr auf meinen Namen bitten, und ich sage euch nicht, daß ich den Vater euretwegen angehen werde;
In that day ye will ask in my name, and I do not say to you, that I will pray the Father about you,
27 denn der Vater liebt euch selbst, weil ihr mich geliebt habt und geglaubt habt, daß ich von Gott ausgegangen bin.
for the Father himself loves you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from God.
28 Ich bin vom Vater ausgegangen und bin in die Welt gekommen; wiederum verlasse ich die Welt und gehe zum Vater.
I came forth from the Father, and have come into the world. Again I leave the world, and go to the Father.
29 Sagen seine Jünger: Siehe, nun redest du offen und sagst kein Bild.
His disciples say to him, Lo, now thou speak plainly, and speak not one veiled word.
30 Nun wissen wir, daß du alles weißt und nicht nötig hast, daß dich jemand angehe. Darum glauben wir, daß du von Gott ausgegangen bist.
Now we know that thou know all things, and have no need that any man should question thee. By this we believe that thou came forth from God.
31 Antwortete ihnen Jesus: glaubet ihr jetzt?
Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
32 Siehe, es kommt eine Stunde, und sie ist gekommen, daß ihr zerstreut werdet, jeder an seinen Ort, und mich allein lasset; doch ich bin nicht allein, weil der Vater bei mir ist.
Behold, the hour comes, and now has come, that ye will be scattered, each man to his own things, and ye will leave me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33 Dieses habe ich zu euch geredet, auf daß ihr in mir Frieden habet; in der Welt habt ihr Drangsal; aber seid getrost, ich habe die Welt überwunden.
These things I have spoken to you, so that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye have tribulation. But cheer up, I have overcome the world.
