Job 24
1 Warum sind vom Allmächtigen nicht Strafzeiten aufgespart, und sehen seine Getreuen seine Gerichtstage nicht?
Why are times not laid up by the Almighty? And why do not they that know Him see His days?
2 Grenzen verrückt man, raubt eine Herde und treibt sie auf die Weide.
There are that remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed them.
3 Den Esel der Verwaisten treibt man fort, nimmt der Witwe Rind zum Pfand.
They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge.
4 Die Armen stößt man vom Wege, die Elenden im Lande müssen sich insgesamt verstecken.
They turn the needy out of the way; the poor of the earth hide themselves together.
5 Ja, gleich Wildeseln in der Wüste ziehen sie aus in ihrem Tagewerke, Zehrung suchend; die Steppe giebt ihm Brot für die Kinder.
Behold, as wild asses in the wilderness they go forth to their work, seeking diligently for food; the desert yieldeth them bread for their children.
6 Auf dem Felde schneiden sie sein Mengfutter und den Weinberg des Gottlosen ernten sie nach.
They cut his provender in the field; and they despoil the vineyard of the wicked.
7 Nackt liegen sie des Nachts, ohne Kleidung, und ohne Hülle in der Kälte.
They lie all night naked without clothing, and have no covering in the cold.
8 Vom Regenguß der Berge triefen sie und ohne Obdach schmiegen sie sich an den Fels.
They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.
9 Man raubt von der Mutterbrust die Waise und den Elenden pfändet man.
There are that pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor;
10 Nackt schleichen sie einher, ohne Gewand, und hungernd tragen sie Garben.
So that they go about naked without clothing, and being hungry they carry the sheaves;
11 Zwischen ihre Mauern pressen sie Öl, treten die Kelter und müssen dürsten.
They make oil within the rows of these men; they tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.
12 Aus den Städten her ächzen Sterbende, die Seele Erschlagener schreit um Rache; doch Gott achtet nicht der Ungereimtheit.
From out of the populous city men groan, and the soul of the wounded crieth out; yet God imputeth it not for unseemliness.
13 Jene sind Lichtfeinde geworden; seine Wege kennen sie nicht und sind nicht heimisch auf seinen Pfaden.
These are of them that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.
14 Bei Morgengrauen erhebt sich der Mörder, tötet den Elenden und Armen, und in der Nacht schleicht der Dieb.
The murderer riseth with the light, to kill the poor and needy; and in the night he is as a thief.
15 Das Auge des Ehebrechers erlauert die Dämmerung; kein Auge, denkt er, wird mich sehen, und eine Hülle legt er vors Gesicht.
The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying: 'No eye shall see me'; and he putteth a covering on his face.
16 Im Finstern bricht man in Häuser ein; bei Tage halten sie sich eingeschlossen, wollen nichts wissen vom Licht.
In the dark they dig through houses; they shut themselves up in the day-time; they know not the light.
17 Denn ihnen allen gilt tiefes Dunkel als Morgen; denn mit den Schrecken des tiefen Dunkels ist man wohl vertraut.
For the shadow of death is to all of them as the morning; for they know the terrors of the shadow of death.
18 Schnell ist er dahin auf Wassers Fläche; verflucht wird ihr Erbteil im Lande, nicht wendet er sich mehr des Wegs zu den Weinbergen.
He is swift upon the face of the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth; he turneth not by the way of the vineyards.
19 Dürre und Hitze raffen die Schneewasser hinweg, die Unterwelt die, so gesündigt haben. (Sheol h7585)
Drought and heat consume the snow waters; so doth the nether-world those that have sinned. (Sheol h7585)
20 Es vergißt seiner der Mutterschoß; an ihm erlabt sich das Gewürm. Nicht wird seiner mehr gedacht, und einem Baume gleich wird der Frevel zerschmettert.
The womb forgetteth him; the worm feedeth sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and unrighteousness is broken as a tree.
21 Er, der die Unfruchtbare ausbeutete, die nicht gebar, und der Witwe nichts Gutes erwies.
He devoureth the barren that beareth not; and doeth not good to the widow.
22 Und die Tyrannen erhält er durch seine Kraft; ein solcher kommt wieder auf, wenn er schon am Leben verzweifelte.
He draweth away the mighty also by his power; he riseth up, and he trusteth not his own life.
23 Er gewährt ihm Sicherheit, und er sieht sich gestützt, und seine Augen wachen über ihren Wegen.
Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth, yet His eyes are upon their ways.
24 Hoch stehen sie da - ein wenig nur, und er ist nicht mehr! Hingesenkt werden sie - wie alle werden sie eingerafft und wie der Kopf der Ähre abgeschnitten.
They are exalted for a little while, and they are gone; yea, they are brought low, they are gathered in as all others, and wither as the tops of the ears of corn.
25 Und wenn's nicht so ist - wer will mich Lügen strafen und meine Rede zunichte machen?
And if it be not so now, who will prove me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
