Job 11
1 Dann antwortete Zophar aus Naama und sprach:
Then Zophar, the Naamathite, answered,
2 Soll dem Wortschwalle keine Antwort werden, und der Maulheld Recht behalten?
“Shouldn’t the multitude of words be answered? Should a man full of talk be justified?
3 Dein Geschwätz sollte Männer zum Schweigen bringen? und höhnen wolltest du, ohne daß dich jemand beschämt?
Should your boastings make men hold their peace? When you mock, will no man make you ashamed?
4 Sagtest du doch: Meine Lehre ist lauter, und rein war ich in deinen Augen!
For you say, ‘My doctrine is pure. I am clean in your eyes.’
5 Aber wahrlich - wollte Gott nur reden und seine Lippen gegen dich aufthun
But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against you,
6 und dir die verborgenen Tiefen der Weisheit offenbaren, daß sie von vielfältig wahrhaftem Bestande sind, - du würdest dann erkennen, daß Gott dir einen Teil von deiner Schuld noch übersieht!
that he would show you the secrets of wisdom! For true wisdom has two sides. Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.
7 Kannst du den tiefsten Grund in Gott erreichen oder bis zum äußersten Ende bei dem Allmächtigen hingelangen?
“Can you fathom the mystery of God? Or can you probe the limits of the Almighty?
They are high as heaven. What can you do? They are deeper than Sheol. What can you know? (Sheol h7585)
9 Sie ist weiter als die Erde an Ausdehnung und breiter als das Meer.
Its measure is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
10 Wenn er einherfährt und verhaftet und die Gerichtsversammlung einberuft - wer will ihm wehren?
If he passes by, or confines, or convenes a court, then who can oppose him?
11 Denn er kennt die Nichtswürdigen und schaut den Frevel, ohne sonderlich darauf zu achten.
For he knows false men. He sees iniquity also, even though he doesn’t consider it.
12 Und ein Hohlkopf wird gewitzigt, und ein Wildeselfüllen zum Menschen umgeboren.
An empty-headed man becomes wise when a man is born as a wild donkey’s colt.
13 Wenn du dein Herz bereitest und deine Hände zu ihm ausbreitest -
“If you set your heart aright, stretch out your hands towards him.
14 klebt Frevel an deiner Hand, entferne ihn und laß in deinen Zelten kein Unrecht wohnen! -
If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away. Don’t let unrighteousness dwell in your tents.
15 ja, dann wirst du dein Antlitz frei von Fehl erheben, wirst fest dastehn und brauchst dich nicht zu fürchten.
Surely then you will lift up your face without spot. Yes, you will be steadfast, and will not fear,
16 Ja, dann wirst du dein Ungemach vergessen; wie an verlaufenes Wasser wirst du daran denken.
for you will forget your misery. You will remember it like waters that have passed away.
17 Und heller als der Mittag geht das Leben auf; mag's dunkeln, wird es doch wie Morgen sein!
Life will be clearer than the noonday. Though there is darkness, it will be as the morning.
18 Du hegst Vertrauen, weil noch Hoffnung ist, und spähst du aus - du kannst dich sorglos niederlegen
You will be secure, because there is hope. Yes, you will search, and will take your rest in safety.
19 und lagerst, ohne daß dich jemand schreckt, und viele werden sich um deine Gunst bemühn.
Also you will lie down, and no one will make you afraid. Yes, many will court your favour.
20 Jedoch der Frevler Augen schmachten hin; für sie ist jede Zuflucht verloren, und ihre Hoffnung ist - die Seele auszuhauchen!
But the eyes of the wicked will fail. They will have no way to flee. Their hope will be the giving up of the spirit.”
