Jeremia 8
1 Zu jener Zeit - ist der Spruch Jahwes - wird man die Gebeine der Könige von Juda und die Gebeine seiner Oberen, die Gebeine der Priester und die Gebeine der Propheten und die Gebeine der Bewohner Jerusalems aus ihren Gräbern herausholen
At that time, says the Lord, they will take the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his rulers, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem out of their resting-places:
2 und wird sie hinbreiten der Sonne und dem Monde und dem ganzen Himmelsheere, die sie geliebt und denen sie gedient haben, denen sie nachgelaufen sind und die sie befragt und vor denen sie sich niedergeworfen haben: sie werden nicht wieder eingesammelt, noch begraben werden; als Mist auf dem Acker sollen sie dienen.
And they will put them out before the sun and the moon and all the stars of heaven, whose lovers and servants they have been, after whom they have gone, to whom they have made prayers, and to whom they have given worship: they will not be put together or placed in the earth; they will be waste on the face of the earth.
3 Alsdann wird der Tod dem Leben vorgezogen werden von dem ganzen Überreste, von allen, die übrig geblieben sind von diesem bösen Geschlecht, an allen den Orten, wohin ich sie verstoßen habe, - ist der Spruch Jahwes der Heerscharen.
And death will be desired more than life by the rest of this evil family who are still living in all the places where I have sent them away, says the Lord of armies.
4 Und so sprich denn zu ihnen: So spricht Jahwe: Fällt man wohl hin, ohne wieder aufzustehen? oder wendet man sich ab, ohne sich wieder umzuwenden?
Further, you are to say to them, This is what the Lord has said: Will those who are falling not be lifted up again? will he who has gone away not come back?
5 Warum hat sich denn dieses Volk abgewandt in immerwährender Abkehr? Warum halten sie fest an Trug, weigern sich umzukehren?
Why do these people of Jerusalem go back, for ever turning away? they will not give up their deceit, they will not come back.
6 Doch ich habe hingehorcht und habe vernommen: Unwahrheit reden sie; kein einziger empfindet Reue über seine Bosheit, daß er spräche: Was habe ich gethan! Insgesamt haben sie sich abgewandt in ihrem Lauf, einem Rosse gleich, das im Kampfe dahinstürmt.
I took note and gave ear, but no one said what is right: no man had regret for his evil-doing, saying, What have I done? everyone goes off on his way like a horse rushing to the fight.
7 Selbst der Storch unter dem Himmel weiß seine Flugzeiten, und Turteltaube, Schwalbe und Kranich halten die Zeit ihrer Rückkunft ein, aber mein Volk weiß nichts von der Rechtsordnung Jahwes.
Truly, the stork in the heavens is conscious of her fixed times; the dove and the swallow and the crane keep to the times of their coming; but my people have no knowledge of the law of the Lord.
8 Wie dürft ihr sprechen: Weise sind wir und verfügen über das Gesetz Jahwes! - Jawohl! aber in Lüge hat es der Lügengriffel von Schreibern verwandelt.
How is it that you say, We are wise and the law of the Lord is with us? But see, the false pen of the scribes has made it false.
9 Schämen müssen sich die Weisen, bestürzt werden und sich fangen; fürwahr, das Wort Jahwes haben sie verworfen: welcherlei Weisheit ist ihnen nun geblieben?
The wise men are shamed, they are overcome with fear and taken: see, they have given up the word of the Lord; and what use is their wisdom to them?
10 Darum werde ich ihre Weiber andern preisgeben, ihre Felder Eroberern. Denn vom Jüngsten bis zum Ältesten trachten sie allesamt nach Gewinn, Propheten so gut wie Priester verüben allesamt Lug und Trug;
So I will give their wives to others, and their fields to those who will take them for themselves: for everyone, from the least to the greatest, is given up to getting money; from the priest even to the prophet, everyone is false.
11 den Schaden meiner Volksgenossen aber möchten sie auf schnellfertige Weise heilen, indem sie rufen: Heil, Heil! wo doch kein Heil ist.
And they have made little of the wounds of the daughter of Zion, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
12 Schämen werden sie sich müssen daß sie Greuel verübt haben! Indes es giebt für sie kein Erröten mehr, noch wissen sie mehr, was sich schämen heißt. Darum werden sie fallen unter den Fallenden: wenn die Zeit ihrer Heimsuchung kommt, werden sie straucheln, spricht Jahwe.
Let them be put to shame because they have done disgusting things. They had no shame, they were not able to become red with shame: so they will come down with those who are falling: in the time of their punishment they will be made low, says the Lord.
13 Zusamenraffen, fortschaffen will ich sie, - ist der Spruch Jahwes. Es giebt keine Trauben am Weinstock und keine Feigen am Feigenbaum, und das Laub ist verwelkt, und schon habe ich solche für sie bestimmt, die sie abfressen sollen.
I will put an end to them completely, says the Lord: there are no grapes on the vine and no figs on the fig-tree, and the leaf is dry.
14 Wozu sitzen wir noch still da? Sammelt euch doch, daß wir in die festen Städte ziehen und dort untergehen; denn Jahwe, unser Gott, läßt uns untergehen und tränkt uns mit Giftwasser, weil wir wider Jahwe gesündigt haben!
Why are we seated doing nothing? come together, and let us go to the walled towns, and let destruction overtake us there, for the Lord our God has sent destruction on us, and given us bitter water for our drink, because we have done evil against the Lord.
15 Wozu denn noch auf Heil harren, - wo es doch nichts Gutes mehr giebt? auf eine Zeit der Heilung - aber siehe da: Bestürzung!
We were looking for peace, but no good came; and for a time of well-being, but there is only a great fear.
16 Von Dan her läßt sich schon das Schnauben seiner Rosse vernehmen; von dem lauten Gewieher seiner Hengste erbebt das ganze Land, und sie kommen und fressen das Land auf und was darin ist, die Stadt samt ihren Bewohnern.
The loud breathing of the horses comes to our ears from Dan: at the sound of the outcry of his war-horses, all the land is shaking with fear; for they have come, and have made a meal of the land and everything in it; the town and the people living in it.
17 Fürwahr, ich sende unter euch Schlangen, Nattern, wider die es keine Beschwörung giebt, daß sie euch beißen, - ist der Spruch Jahwes.
See, I will send snakes and poison-snakes among you, against which the wonder-worker has no power; and they will give you wounds which may not be made well, says the Lord.
18 O wie könnte ich heiter sein bei dem Kummer! Ganz krank ist mein Herz in mir.
Sorrow has come on me! my heart in me is feeble.
19 Da - horch! laut schreit mein Volk aus weit entferntem Lande: Ist denn Jahwe nicht in Zion? oder ist ihr König nicht in ihr? - Warum haben sie mich zum Zorne gereizt durch ihre Schnitzbilder, durch Götzen der Fremde?
The voice of the cry of the daughter of my people comes from a far land: Is the Lord not in Zion? is not her King in her? Why have they made me angry with their images and their strange gods which are no gods?
20 Vorüber ging die Ernte, zu Ende ist die Obstlese: uns aber ist nicht geholfen worden!
The grain-cutting is past, the summer is ended, and no salvation has come to us.
21 Weil mein Volk gebrochen ist, bin ich gebrochen, gehe ich trauernd einher, hat mich Entsetzen erfaßt.
For the destruction of the daughter of my people I am broken: I am dressed in the clothing of grief; fear has taken me in its grip.
22 Giebt es denn keinen Balsam mehr in Gilead, oder ist kein Arzt mehr da? Warum doch wird meinem Volke kein Verband angelegt?
Is there no life-giving oil in Gilead? is there no expert in medical arts? why then have my people not been made well?
