Jeremia 48
1 Über Moab: So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Wehe über Nebo, denn es ist überwältigt, zu Schanden geworden, eingenommen ist Kirjathaim; zu Schanden geworden ist die Hochburg und gebrochen!
Of Moab. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Woe unto Nebo! for it is spoiled; Kiriathaim is put to shame, it is taken; Misgab is put to shame and dismayed.
2 Vorbei ist's fürderhin mit Moabs Ruhm! In Hesbon plant man Unheil wider es: “Wohlan, laßt es uns ausrotten, daß es aufhört, ein Volk zu sein!” Auch du, Madmen, wirst vernichtet werden, hinter dir her zieht das Schwert!
The praise of Moab is no more; in Heshbon they have devised evil against her: 'Come, and let us cut her off from being a nation.' Thou also, O Madmen, shalt be brought to silence; the sword shall pursue thee.
3 Horch! Jammergeschrei von Horonaim her: “Verwüstung und gewaltige zerschmetterung!”
Hark! a cry from Horonaim, spoiling and great destruction!
4 Zerschmettert ist Moab: Jammergeschrei lassen sie hören bis Zoar hin;
Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.
5 denn die Steige von Luhith steigt man mit Weinen hinan, ja auf dem Abstiege von Horonaim hört man Jammergeschrei über Zerschmetterung.
For by the ascent of Luhith with continual weeping shall they go up; for in the going down of Horonaim they have heard the distressing cry of destruction.
6 Flieht, rettet euch! und werdet gleich einem Wachholderstrauch in der Wüste!
Flee, save your lives, and be like a tamarisk in the wilderness.
7 Ja, weil du dich auf deine Machwerke verließest und auf deine Schätze, wirst auch du eingenommen, und muß Kamos in die Gefangenschaft wandern, seine Priester und seine Oberen miteinander.
For, because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou also shalt be taken; and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity, his priests and his princes together.
8 Und es kommt der Verwüster über jegliche Stadt, keine Stadt wird entrinnen. Zugrunde geht das Thal, und vernichtet wird die Ebene, wie Jahwe gesagt hat.
And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape; the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed; as the LORD hath spoken.
9 Gebt Moab Flügel, daß es auf- und davonfliege: feine Städte sollen zur Einöde werden, ohne einen bewohner darin!
Give wings unto Moab, for she must fly and get away; and her cities shall become a desolation, without any to dwell therein.
10 Verflucht sei, wer das Werk Jahwes mit Lässigkeit ausführt, und verflucht, wer seinem Schwerte das Blut mißgönnt!
Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD with a slack hand, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.
11 Von Jugend auf hatte Maob Ruhe und lag ungestört auf seinen Hefen; es ward nicht aus einem Gefäß in ein anderes umgegossen, noch ist's je in Gefangenschaft gewandert: darum hat es seinen Geschmack behalten, und sein Duft hat sich nicht gewandelt.
Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity; therefore his taste remaineth in him, and his scent is not changed.
12 Darum fürwahr, es kommt die Zeit, ist der Spruch Jahwes, da will ich ihm Schröter senden, daß sie es ausschroten: die sollen seine Gefäße ausgießen und seine Krüge zerschmeißen!
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him them that tilt up, and they shall tilt him up; and they shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles in pieces.
13 Dann wird Moab mit Kamos zuschanden werden, wie das Reich Israel mit Bethel, auf das es sich verließ, zu Schanden ward.
And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Beth-el their confidence.
14 Wie könnt ihr sprechen: Helden sind wir und kriegstüchtige Männer!?
How say ye: 'We are mighty men, and valiant men for the war'?
15 Der Verwüster Moabs und seiner Städte zieht schon heran, und die Auserlesensten seiner jungen Krieger sinken nieder zur Schlachtung, ist der Spruch des Königs, des Name Jahwe der Heerscharen ist.
Moab is spoiled, and they are gone up into her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
16 Das Verderben Moabs ist nahe herbeigekommen, und sein Unheil bricht gar eilends herein.
The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast.
17 Bezeugt ihm Beileid, ihr, seine Nachbarn insgesamt, und alle, die ihr seinen Namen kennt! Sprecht: Wie ward doch zerschmettert der starke Stecken, der prächtige Stab!
Bemoan him, all ye that are round about him, and all ye that know his name; say: 'How is the strong staff broken, the beautiful rod!'
18 Steige herab von der Höhe der Herrlichkeit und setze dich in den Staub, du Bewohnerschaft, Tochter Dibon; denn der Verwüster Moabs zieht wider dich heran, zerstört deine Bollwerke!
O thou daughter that dwellest in Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab is come up against thee, he hath destroyed thy strongholds.
19 Tritt an den Weg und spähe, Bewohnerschaft Aroers, - frage den Flüchtling und die Entronnene, sprich: Was ist geschehen?
O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and watch; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth; say: 'What hath been done?'
20 Zu Schanden ward Moab, ja gebrochen ward's: heulet und jammert! Verkündet am Arnon, daß Moab überwältigt ist!
Moab is put to shame, for it is dismayed; wail and cry; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled.
21 Ja, ein Strafgericht brach herein über den Bereich der Ebene, über Holon und Jahza und Mephaat,
And judgment is come upon the country of the Plain; upon Holon, and upon Jahzah, and upon Mephaath;
22 über Dibon, Nebo und Beth-Diblathaim,
and upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Beth-diblathaim;
23 über Kirjathaim, Beth-Gamul und Beth-Meon,
and upon Kiriathaim, and upon Beth-gamul, and upon Beth-meon;
24 über Kerioth, Bozra und alle andern Städte Moabs, die fernen wie die nahen.
and upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.
25 Abgeschlagen ist das Horn Moabs und sein Arm zerschmettert! - ist der Spruch Jahwes.
The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith the LORD.
26 Macht es trunken - denn wider Jahwe hat es groß gethan, - daß Moab hinklatsche in sein Gespei und gleichfalls zum Gespötte werde!
Make ye him drunken, for he magnified himself against the LORD; and Moab shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.
27 Oder war dir etwa Israel nicht ein Gegenstand des Gespötts? Wurde es etwa unter Dieben ertappt, daß du, so oft du von ihm redest, höhnisch den Kopf schüttelst?
For was not Israel a derision unto thee? Was he found among thieves? For as often as thou speakest of him, thou waggest the head.
28 Räumt die Städte und macht Wohnung im Felsengeklüft, ihr Bewohner Moabs, daß ihr der Taube gleicht, die da nistet jenseits am Rande des Abgrunds!
O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock; and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the pit's mouth.
29 “Wir haben von dem Stolze Moabs gehört, dem überaus hochfahrenden, von seiner Hoffart, seinem Stolze, seiner Anmaßung und seiner Hochmut!”
We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud; his loftiness, and his pride, and his haughtiness, and the assumption of his heart.
30 Ja, ich kenne, ist der Spruch Jahwes, seinen Übermut: so unwahrhaftig ist sein Gerede, so unwahrhaftig ist das, was sie thun!
I know his arrogancy, saith the LORD, that it is ill-founded; his boastings have wrought nothing well-founded.
31 Darum muß ich heulen über Moab und bejammern Moab insgesamt: über die Leute von Kir-Heres wird man seufzen!
Therefore will I wail for Moab; yea, I will cry out for all Moab; for the men of Kir-heres shall my heart moan.
32 Mehr als über Jaeser geweint wird, beweine ich dich, Weinstock von Sibma, dich, dessen Ranken das Meer überschritten, bis Jaeser reichten: in deinen Herbst und in deine Lese ist der Verwüster hereingebrochen.
With more than the weeping of Jazer will I weep for thee, O vine of Sibmah; thy branches passed over the sea, they reached even to the sea of Jazer; upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage the spoiler is fallen.
33 Freude und Jubel ist dem Fruchtgefilde genommen und dem Lande Moab. Ich lasse den Wein aus den Kufen verschwinden, nicht wird man mehr keltern: Jauchzen hört man, das kein Jauchzen ist!
And gladness and joy is taken away from the fruitful field, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to cease from the winepresses; none shall tread with shouting; the shouting shall be no shouting.
34 Vom jammererfüllten Hesbon an bis Elaele, bis Jahaz hin erlebt man Geschrei, von Zoar her bis Horonaim, bis zum dritten Eglath; denn auch die Wasser von Nimrim werden zu Wüsteneien.
From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, even unto Jahaz have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, a heifer of three years old; for the Waters of Nimrim also shall be desolate.
35 Und ich vertilge aus Moab, ist der Spruch Jahwes, die zur Opferhöhe hinaufgehn und ihrem Gotte räuchern.
Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the LORD, him that offereth in the high place, and him that offereth to his gods.
36 Darum klagt mein Herz um die Männer von Kir-Heres gleich Flöten: gingen ihnen ja doch die Ersparnisse, die sie gemacht, verloren!
Therefore my heart moaneth for Moab like pipes, and my heart moaneth like pipes for the men of Kir-heres; therefore the abundance that he hath gotten is perished.
37 Denn ale Häupter sind zur Glatze geworden, und alle Bärte sind geschoren;
For every head is bald, and every beard clipped; upon all the hands are cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.
38 Auf allen Dächern Moabs und auf seinen Plätzen ist nichts als Trauerklage, denn ich habe Moab zerschmettert, gleich einem Gefäß, an dem niemand Gefallen hat, ist der Spruch Jahwes
On all the housetops of Moab and in the broad places thereof there is lamentation every where; for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith the LORD.
39 Wie ist's gebrochen! Heulet! Wie hat Moab den Rücken gewandt! Schäme dich! Und es soll Moab ein Gegenstand des gespötts und des Entsetzens für alle seine Nachbarn werden.
'How is it broken down!' wail ye! 'How hath Moab turned the back with shame!' So shall Moab become a derision and a dismay to all that are round about him.
40 Denn so spricht Jahwe: Fürwahr, einem Adler gleich fliegt er heran und breitet seine Flügel über Moab hin;
For thus saith the LORD: Behold, he shall swoop as a vulture, and shall spread out his wings against Moab.
41 die Städte werden eingenommen, und die Bergfesten erobert, und das Herz der Helden Moabs wird jenes Tages dem Herzen eines Weibes in Kindesnöten gleichen.
The cities are taken, and the strongholds are seized, and the heart of the mighty men of Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
42 Vernichtet aber wird Moab, daß es aufhört, ein Volk zu sein, weil es wider Jahwe groß gethan.
And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD.
43 Grauen und Grube und Garn kommen über dich, du Bewohner Moabs, - ist dert Spruch Jahwes -:
Terror, and the pit, and the trap, are upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD.
44 wer vor dem Grauen entflohen, fällt in die Grube; wer der Grube entstiegen, fängt sich im Garn. Denn diese bringe ich über Moab im Jahre ihrer Heimsuchung - ist der Spruch Jahwes.
He that fleeth from the terror shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the trap; for I will bring upon her, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.
45 Im Schatten Hesbons machen erschöpft Flüchtlinge Halt, doch Feuer bricht aus Hesbon hervor, und Flammenglut aus Sihons Palast; die verzehrt die Schläfen Moabs und den Scheitel der Lärmer.
In the shadow of Heshbon the fugitives stand without strength; for a fire is gone forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and it devoureth the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.
46 Wehe dir, Moab! Verloren ist das Volk des Kamos! Denn fortgeschleppt werden deine Söhne in Gefangenschaft, und deine Töchter ins Gefängnis.
Woe unto thee, O Moab! The people of Chemosh is undone; for thy sons are taken away captive, and thy daughters into captivity.
47 Doch ich will das Geschick Moabs wenden in der Folgezeit - ist der Spruch Jahwes. Bis hierher geht das Strafgericht über Moab.
Yet will I turn the captivity of Moab in the end of days, saith the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.
