Jeremia 43

1 Als aber Jeremia dem gesamten Volk alle die Worte Jahwes, ihres Gottes, mit denen ihn Jahwe, ihr Gott, an sie gesandt hatte, bis zu Ende mitgeteilt hatte, - alle jene Worte,

And it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking to all the people all the words of Jehovah their God, for which Jehovah their God had sent him to them, even all these words,

2 da sprachen Asarja, der Sohn Hofajas, und Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, samt allen den Männern, die sich frech gegen Jeremia auflehnten: Lügen redest du! Jahwe, unser Gott, hat dich nicht gesandt mit dem Auftrag: “Ihr sollt nicht nach Ägypten ziehen, um dort als Fremdlinge zu weilen!”

then spake Azariah, the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying to Jeremiah, “Thou speakest falsely; Jehovah our God hath not sent thee to say, Go not into Egypt to sojourn there;

3 sondern Baruch, der Sohn Nerijas, reizt dich wider uns auf, in der Absicht, uns der Gewalt der Chaldäer zu überliefern, damit man uns töte und uns nach Babel wegführe!

but Baruch, the son of Neriah, setteth thee on against us, to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldaeans, that they may put us to death, and carry us away captive to Babylon.”

4 Und Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, und alle Heeresobersten samt dem ganzen Volke gehorchten dem Gebote Jahwes nicht, daß sie im Lande Juda geblieben wären,

So Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of Jehovah, to remain in the land of Judah.

5 vielmehr nahmen Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, und alle Heeresobersten den gesamten Überrest Judas, die aus allen den Völkern, wohin sie versprengt gewesen, zurückgekehrt waren, um im Lande Juda zu weilen,

But Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, who were returned from all the nations whither they had been driven to dwell in the land of Judah,

6 die Männer, die Weiber und die Kinder, die Prinzessinnen und alle die Personen, die Nebusar-Adan, der Oberste der Leibwächter, sonst noch bei Gedalja, dem Sohne Ahikams, des Sohnes Saphans, belassen hatte, dazu den Propheten Jeremia und Baruch, den Sohn Nerijas,

the men, and the women, and the children, and the king's daughters, and every person whom Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, had left with Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch, the son of Neriah;

7 und zogen nach Ägypten, denn sie gehorchten dem Gebote Jahwes nicht. Sie zogen aber bis Thachpanhes.

and they went into the land of Egypt; for they obeyed not the voice of Jehovah; and they came to Tahpanhes.

8 Da erging das Wort Jahwes an Jeremia in Thachpanhes folgendermaßen:

Then came the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying:

9 Hole große Steine herbei und senke sie in Mörtel ein in der Vorhalle am Eingange zum Palaste des Pharao in Thachpanhes in Gegenwart judäischer Männer

Take in thy hand great stones, and hide them in the clay in the brick-kiln which is at the entrance of the house of Pharaoh in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah,

10 und sprich zu ihnen: So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Fürwahr, ich will meinen Knecht Nebukadrezar, den König von Babel, holen lassen und seinen Thron über diesen Steinen, die ich eingesenkt habe, aufrichten, und er soll seinen Prachtteppich darüber ausbreiten.

and say to them: Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will send, and take Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, my servant, and I will set his throne upon these stones which I have hidden, and he shall spread his royal canopy over them.

11 Und er wird kommen und Ägypten schlagen: was für den Tod bestimmt ist, - wird er dem Tode preisgeben, was für die Wegführung, - der Wegführung, und was für das Schwert, - dem Schwerte!

And he shall come and smite the land of Egypt, and deliver those that are for death to death, and those that are for captivity to captivity, and those that are for the sword to the sword.

12 Dann will ich Feuer an die Tempel der Götter Ägyptens legen, und er wird sie niederbrennen und die Götter wegführen und wird sich in Ägypten hüllen, wie sich der Hirt in seinen Mantel hüllt. Unangefochten wird er alsdann von dort abziehn.

And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captive; and he shall wrap himself in the land of Egypt, as a shepherd wrappeth himself in his garment, and he shall go forth from thence in peace.

13 Und er wird die Säulen von Beth-Semes in Ägypten zertrümmern und die Tempel der Götter Ägyptens niederbrennen.

And he shall break in pieces the images of Bethshemesh in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of Egypt shall he burn with fire.
