Jeremia 36
1 Im vierten Jahre Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, aber erging von seiten Jahwes folgendes Wort an Jeremia:
It came about in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, and he said,
2 Nimm eine Buchrolle und schreibe alle die Worte darauf, die ich in betreff Israels und in betreff Judas und in betreff aller Völker zu dir geredet habe, von der Zeit ab, da ich zu dir redete, von den Tagen Josias an bis auf den heutigen Tag:
“Take a scroll for yourself and write on it all the words that I have told you concerning Israel and Judah, and every nation. Do this for everything I have told from the days of Josiah until this very day.
3 vielleicht hören die vom Hause Juda auf all' das Unheil, das ich gesonnen bin, ihnen anzuthun, daß sie sich ein jeder von seinem bösen Wege bekehren, so will ich ihnen ihre Verschuldung und Sünde vergeben.
Perhaps the people of Judah will listen to all the disasters that I intend to bring on them. Perhaps everyone will turn away from his wicked way, so I can forgive their iniquity and their sin.”
4 Da berief Jeremia Baruch, den Sohn Nerijas, und Baruch schrieb, so wie sie Jeremia ihm vorsagte, alle Worte Jahwes, die er zu ihm geredet hatte, auf eine Buchrolle.
Then Jeremiah called Baruch son of Neriah, and Baruch wrote in a scroll, at Jeremiah's dictation, all the words of Yahweh spoken to him.
5 Sodann wies Jeremia den Baruch folgendermaßen an: Ich bin behindert, ich kann nicht in den Tempel Jahwes kommen;
Next Jeremiah gave a command to Baruch. He said, “I am in prison and cannot go to Yahweh's house.
6 so gehe nun du hinein und lies aus der Rolle, die du so, wie ich es dir vorsagte, geschrieben hast, die Worte Jahwes dem Volk im Tempel Jahwes an einem Fasttage laut vor; auch allen Judäern, die aus ihren Städten hereingekommen sind, sollst du sie laut vorlesen,
So you must go and read from the scroll that you wrote at my dictation. On the day of the fast, you must read Yahweh's words in the hearing of the people in his house, and also in the hearing of all of Judah who have come from their cities. Proclaim these words to them.
7 ob sie sich vielleicht mit Flehen vor Jahwe demütigen und sich ein jeder von seinem bösen Wege bekehren: denn gewaltig ist der Zorn und der Grimm, mit dem Jahwe dieses Volk bedroht hat.
Perhaps their pleas for mercy will come before Yahweh. Perhaps each person will turn from his wicked way, since the wrath and fury that Yahweh has proclaimed against this people are severe.”
8 Und Baruch, der Sohn Nerijas, that nach alledem, was der Prophet Jeremia ihm befohlen hatte, indem er aus dem Buche die Worte Jahwes im Tempel Jahwes vorlas.
So Baruch son of Neriah did everything that Jeremiah the prophet had commanded him to do. He read aloud the words of Yahweh in the house of Yahweh.
9 Im fünften Jahre Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda aber, im neunten Monate, da berief man zu einem Fasten vor Jahwe das ganze Volk in Jerusalem und alles Volk, das aus den Städten Judas nach Jerusalem hereinkam.
It came about in the fifth year and ninth month of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, that all the people in Jerusalem and the people who came to Jerusalem from the cities of Judah proclaimed a fast before Yahweh.
10 Da las Baruch die Worte Jeremias im Tempel Jahwes, in der Halle Gemarjas, des Sohnes Saphans, des Staatsschreibers, im oberen Vorhof, am Eingange des neuen Thors am Tempel Jahwes, dem gesamten Volk aus dem Buche laut vor.
Baruch read aloud Jeremiah's words in the house of Yahweh, from the room of Gemariah son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper courtyard, by the gate of the entrance to the house of Yahweh. He did this in the hearing of all the people.
11 Als nun Michaja, der Sohn Gemarjas, des Sohnes Saphans, alle Worte Jahwes aus dem Buche gehört hatte,
Now Micaiah son of Gemariah son of Shaphan heard all of Yahweh's words in the scroll.
12 begab er sich hinab zum Palaste des Königs in das Gemach des Staatsschreibers; dort waren gerade alle obersten Beamten bei einander: der Staatsschreiber Elisama, Delaja, der Sohn Semajas, Elnathan, der Sohn Achbors, Gemarja, der Sohn Saphans, und Zedekia, der Sohn Hananjas, mit allen anderen Oberen.
He went down to the house of the king, to the secretary's room. Look, all the officials were sitting there: Elishama the secretary, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Akbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the officials.
13 Michaja aber meldete ihnen alles, was er gehört hatte, als Baruch dem Volk aus dem Buche laut vorlas.
Then Micaiah reported to them all the words that he had heard that Baruch read aloud in the hearing of the people.
14 Da sandten die sämtlichen Oberen Judi, den Sohn Nathanjas, des Sohnes Selemjas, des Sohnes Chusis, an Baruch mit der Botschaft: Die Rolle, aus der du dem Volke laut vorgelesen hast, die nimm mit dir und komm hierher! - und Baruch, der Sohn Nerijas, nahm die Rolle mit sich und kam zu ihnen.
So all the officials sent Jehudi son of Nethaniah son of Shelemiah son of Cushi, to Baruch. Jehudi said to Baruch, “Take the scroll in your hand, the scroll from which you were reading in the hearing of the people, and come.” So Baruch son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand and went to the officials.
15 Sie aber geboten ihm: Setze dich hin und lies sie uns laut vor! und Baruch las sie ihnen laut vor.
Then they said to him, “Sit down and read this in our hearing.” So Baruch read the scroll.
16 Als sie nun alle die Worte gehört hatten, sahen sie einander erschrocken an und sagten zu Baruch: Wir müssen dem König alle diese Vorgänge melden!
It happened that when they heard all these words, each man turned in fear to the one next to him and said to Baruch, “We must certainly report all of these words to the king.”
17 zugleich befragten sie Baruch: Teile uns doch mit, wie du alle diese Worte aufgeschrieben hast?
Then they asked Baruch, “Tell us, how did you come to write all these words at Jeremiah's dictation?”
18 Baruch antwortete ihnen: Er sagte mir mündlich alle diese Worte vor, während ich sie mit Tinte in das Buch schrieb.
Baruch said to them, “He dictated all these words to me, and I wrote them in ink on this scroll.”
19 Da sprachen die Oberen zu Baruch: Geh' und verbirg dich samt Jeremia, daß niemand wisse, wo ihr seid!
Then the officials said to Baruch, “Go, hide yourself, and Jeremiah, too. Do not let anyone know where you are.”
20 Hierauf begaben sie sich zum König ins innere Gemach, nachdem sie die Rolle im Gemache des Staatsschreibers Elisama verwahrt hatten, und meldeten dem König alles, was vorgegangen war.
So they put the scroll in the room of Elishama the secretary, and they went to the king in the courtyard and they reported everything in the hearing of the king.
21 Da sandte der König Judi hin, die Rolle zu holen, und er holte sie aus dem Gemache des Staatsschreibers Elisama. Sodann las sie Judi dem König und allen Oberen, die den König umstanden, laut vor;
Then the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll. Jehudi took it from the room of Elishama the secretary. Then he read it in the hearing of the king and all the officials who were standing beside him.
22 der König aber saß gerade in der Winterwohnung, da es im neunten Monate war, und vor ihm brannte das Kohlenbecken.
Now the king was staying in the winter house in the ninth month, and a brazier was burning in front of him.
23 Jedesmal aber, wenn Judi drei oder vier Spalten vorgelesen hatte, zerschnitt sie der König mit dem Federmesser und warf die Fetzen in das Feuer auf dem Kohlenbecken, bis die ganze Rolle von dem Feuer auf dem Kohlenbecken verzehrt war.
It happened that as Jehudi read three or four columns, the king would cut it off with a knife and throw it into the fire in the brazier until all of the scroll was destroyed.
24 Der König aber und alle seine Diener, die alle diese Worte anhörten, erschraken nicht, noch zerrissen sie ihre Kleider,
But neither the king nor any of his servants who heard all these words were frightened, nor did they tear their clothes.
25 und ob auch Elnathan und Delaja und Gemarja den König dringend baten, die Rolle nicht zu verbrennen, hörte er doch nicht auf sie.
Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah had even urged the king not to burn the scroll, but he did not listen to them.
26 Vielmehr beauftragte der König den Prinzen Jerachmiel, sowie Seraja, den Sohn Asriels, und Selemja, den Sohn Abdeels, den Schreiber Baruch und den Propheten Jeremia zu holen, - Jahwe aber hielt sie verborgen.
Then the king commanded Jerahmeel, a relative, Seraiah son of Azriel, and Shelemiah son of Abdeel to arrest Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but Yahweh had hidden them.
27 Da erging das Wort Jahwes an Jeremia, nachdem der König die Rolle verbrannt hatte samt den Worten, welche Baruch aufgeschrieben hatte, so wie Jeremia sie ihm vorgesagt, also lautend:
Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah after the king had burned the scroll and the words that Baruch had written at Jeremiah's dictation, saying,
28 Nimm nun eine andere Rolle und schreibe darauf alle die früheren Worte, die auf der früheren Rolle standen, welche Jojakim, der König von Juda, verbrannt hat!
“Go back, take another scroll for yourself, and write in it all the words that were on the original scroll, the one that Jehoiakim king of Judah burned.
29 In betreff Jojakims, des Königs von Juda, aber sollst du sagen: So spricht Jahwe: Du hast jene Rolle verbrannt, indem du sprachst: Warum hast du darauf geschrieben: “Der König von Babel wird gewiß kommen und dieses Land verheeren und Menschen und Vieh daraus vertilgen!”
Then you must say this to Jehoiakim king of Judah: 'You burned that scroll, saying, “Why have you written on it, 'The king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, for he will destroy both man and beast in it'?”'”
30 Darum spricht Jahwe in betreff Jojakims, des Königs von Juda, also: Er soll keinen Nachkommen haben, der auf dem Throne Davids sitze, und sein Leichnam soll daliegen, preisgegeben der Hitze bei Tag und der Kälte bei Nacht.
Therefore Yahweh says this concerning you, Jehoiakim king of Judah: “No descendant of yours will ever sit on the throne of David. As for you, your corpse will be thrown out into the heat of day and the frost of night.
31 Und ich will an ihm und an seinen Nachkommen und an seinen Dienern ihre Verschuldung ahnden und über sie und über die Bewohner Jerusalems und über die Männer von Juda all' das Unheil kommen lassen, das ich ihnen angedroht habe, ohne daß sie darauf hörten.
For I will punish you, your descendants, and your servants for the iniquity of you all. I will bring on you, on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on every person in Judah all the disasters with which I have threatened you with, but to which you paid no attention.”
32 Und Jeremia nahm eine andere Rolle und übergab sie dem Schreiber Baruch, dem Sohne Nerijas; der schrieb auf sie den ganzen Inhalt des Buchs, das Jojakim, der König von Juda, verbrannt hatte, so wie ihn Jeremia ihm vorsagte, - außerdem aber wurden dem noch viele Reden gleicher Art beigefügt.
So Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to Baruch son of Neriah the scribe. Baruch wrote on it at Jeremiah's dictation all the words that had been in the scroll burned by Jehoiakim king of Judah. Furthermore, many other similar words were added to this scroll.
