Jeremia 35

1 Das Wort, das von seiten Jahwes an Jeremia erging, in den Tagen Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, folgendermaßen:

The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

2 Gehe hin zur Genossenschaft der Rechabiter und rede mit ihnen und bringe sie zum Tempel Jahwes, in eine der Zellen, und gieb ihnen Wein zu trinken!

Go into the house of the Rechabites, and have talk with them, and take them into the house of the Lord, into one of the rooms, and give them wine.

3 Da holte ich Jasanja, den Sohn Jeremias, des Sohnes Habazinjas, nebst seinen Brüdern und all' seinen Söhnen und die ganze Genossenschaft der Rechabiter

Then I took Jaazaniah, the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brothers and all his sons and all the Rechabites;

4 und brachte sie zum Tempel Jahwes in die Zelle der Söhne Hanans, des Sohnes Jigdaljas, des Gottesmannes, die neben der Zelle der Oberen, oberhalb der Zelle Masejas, des Sohnes Sallums, des Schwellenhüters, gelegen war,

And I took them into the house of the Lord, into the room of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was near the rulers' room, which was over the room of Maaseiah, the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door;

5 und setzte den Gliedern der Genossenschaft der Rechabiter mit Wein gefüllte Kelche und Becher vor und sprach zu ihnen: Trinket Wein!

And I put before the sons of the Rechabites basins full of wine and cups, and I said to them, Take some wine.

6 Da sprachen sie: Wir trinken keinen Wein! Denn Jonadab, der Sohn Rechabs, unser Ahnherr, hat uns Folgendes befohlen: “Nimmermehr sollt ihr oder eure Kinder Wein trinken

But they said, We will take no wine: for Jonadab, the son of Rechab our father, gave us orders, saying, You are to take no wine, you or your sons, for ever:

7 oder ein Haus bauen oder Samen aussäen oder einen Weinberg pflanzen oder dergleichen in Besitz haben, sondern in Zelten sollt ihr wohnen euer Leben lang, auf daß ihr lange Zeit auf dem Boden lebet, auf dem ihr als Fremdlinge weilt!”

And you are to make no houses, or put in seed, or get vine-gardens planted, or have any: but all your days you are to go on living in tents, so that you may have a long life in the land where you are living as in a strange country.

8 Und wir haben dem Befehl unseres Ahnherrn Jonadab, des Sohnes Rechabs, in Bezug auf alles, was er uns befohlen hat, gehorcht, indem wir, unsere Weiber, unsere Söhne und unsere Töchter, unser Leben lang keinen Wein trinken

And we have kept the rules of Jonadab, the son of Rechab our father, in everything which he gave us orders to do, drinking no wine all our days, we and our wives and our sons and our daughters;

9 und indem wir uns keine Häuser bauen zum Wohnen und weder Weinberge, noch Äcker, noch Saaten besitzen.

Building no houses for ourselves, having no vine-gardens or fields or seed:

10 Und so wohnten wir in Zelten und waren gehorsam und handelten gemäß alledem, was unser Ahnherr Jonadab uns befohlen hat;

But we have been living in tents, and have done everything which Jonadab our father gave us orders to do.

11 als aber Nebukadrezar, der König von Babel, in das Land einfiel, da sprachen wir: “Kommt und laßt uns vor der Heeresmacht der Chaldäer und vor der Heeresmacht der Aramäer nach Jerusalem flüchten!” und ließen uns in Jerusalem nieder.

But when Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, came up into the land, we said, Come, let us go to Jerusalem, away from the army of the Chaldaeans and from the army of the Aramaeans: and so we are living in Jerusalem.

12 Da erging das Wort Jahwes an Jeremia also:

Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,

13 So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: gehe hin und sprich zu den Männern von Juda und zu den Bewohnern Jerusalems: Wollt ihr denn keine Zucht annehmen, daß ihr auf meine Worte höret? ist der Spruch Jahwes.

This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: Go and say to the men of Judah and the people of Jerusalem, Is there no hope of teaching you to give ear to my words? says the Lord.

14 Die Befehle Jonadabs, des Sohnes Rechabs, die er seinen Nachkommen gegeben hat, daß sie keinen Wein trinken sollten, die sind ausgeführt worden; sie haben bis zum heutigen Tage keinen getrunken, weil sie dem Befehl ihres Ahnherrn gehorsam waren: ich nun habe unermüdlich immer wieder zu euch geredet, aber ihr habt nicht auf mich gehört.

The orders which Jonadab, the son of Rechab, gave to his sons to take no wine, are done, and to this day they take no wine, for they do the orders of their father: but I have sent my words to you, getting up early and sending them, and you have not given ear to me.

15 Dazu habe ich unermüdlich immer wieder alle meine Knechte, die Propheten, zu euch gesandt, euch zu sagen: Bekehrt euch doch ein jeder von seinem bösen Weg und befleißigt euch guter Thaten und wandelt nicht andern Göttern nach, um ihnen zu dienen, so werdet ihr auf dem Boden wohnen bleiben, den ich euch und euren Vätern verliehen habe! - aber ihr neigtet euer Ohr nicht und hörtet nicht auf mich.

And I have sent you all my servants the prophets, getting up early and sending them, saying, Come back, now, every man from his evil way, and do better, and go not after other gods to become their servants, and you will go on living in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but your ears have not been open, and you have not given attention to me.

16 Ja, die Nachkommen Jonadabs, des Sohnes Rechabs, haben den Befehl ihres Ahnherrn, den er ihnen gegeben, ausgeführt; dieses Volk aber hat nicht auf mich gehört!

Though the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have done the orders of their father which he gave them, this people has not given ear to me:

17 Darum spricht Jahwe, der Gott der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels, also: Nun will ich über Juda und über alle Bewohner Jerusalems all' das Unheil bringen, das ich ihnen angedroht habe, weil ich zu ihnen geredet habe, ohne daß sie hörten, und ihnen zurief, ohne daß sie antworteten.

For this reason the Lord, the God of armies, the God of Israel, has said, See, I will send on Judah and on all the people of Jerusalem all the evil which I said I would do to them: because I sent my words to them, but they did not give ear; crying out to them, but they gave no answer.

18 Zur Genossenschaft der Rechabiter aber sprach Jeremia: So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Weil ihr dem Befehle Jonadabs, eures Ahnherrn, gehorsam wart und alle seine Befehle beobachtet und gemäß alledem gehandelt habt, was er euch befohlen hatte,

But to the Rechabites Jeremiah said, This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: Because you have done the orders of Jonadab your father, and have kept his rules, and done everything as he gave you orders to do it;

19 darum spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels, also: Es soll Jonadab, dem Sohne Rechabs, nie an einem Nachkommen fehlen, der vor mir stehe.

For this reason the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said, Jonadab, the son of Rechab, will never be without a man to take his place before me.
