Jakobus 3
1 Tretet nicht so zahlreich als Lehrer auf, meine Brüder; ihr wisset, wir haben nur größere Verantwortung.
LET there not be many teachers among you, my brethren, but know that a greater condemnation we incur.
2 Denn wir fehlen allesamt in vielem: wenn einer im Worte nicht fehlt, der ist ein vollkommener Mann, fähig auch den ganzen Leib zu zügeln.
For (in) many we all offend. Every one who in word offendeth not, this is a perfect man, who is able to make subject also all his body.
3 Wenn wir den Pferden die Zügel in den Mund legen, um sie uns folgen zu machen, so führen wir ihren ganzen Körper mit.
For, behold, bridles into the mouth of horses we throw that we may make them submissive to us, and their whole body we turn.
4 Siehe, auch die Schiffe, wie groß sie sind, wie sie von rauhen Winden getrieben werden, so werden sie doch von einem kleinen Steuerruder gelenkt, wohin der Druck des Lenkers will.
Also the mighty ships, while the furious winds drive them, by a little wood are turned about to the region which the will of him who guideth doth contemplate.
5 So ist auch die Zunge ein kleines Glied und doch großes kann sie von sich sagen. Siehe, wie klein das Feuer, wie groß der Wald den es anzündet.
So also the tongue is a small member, and uplifteth itself. A little fire also burneth many forests;
6 So ist auch die Zunge ein Feuer; als die Welt der Ungerechtigkeit stellt sich die Zunge dar unter den Gliedern: sie, die den ganzen Leib ansteckt, das kreisende Leben entzündet, selbst entzündet von der Hölle. (Geenna g1067)
and the tongue is a fire, a world of sin, like a forest is the tongue itself among our members; it defileth all of our body, and burneth the course of our generations which run (forward) as a wheel, and kindleth also itself with fire. (Geenna g1067)
7 Denn die Natur aller Tiere und Vögel, Schlangen und Seetiere wird gezähmt und ist gezähmt durch die menschliche,
For every nature of animals, and of birds, and reptiles of the sea, and of the dry land, have been subjected to the human nature;
8 aber die Zunge vermag kein Mensch zu zähmen, dies Uebel ohne Ruhe voll todbringenden Giftes.
but the tongue no one can subdue; this is an evil not ordered, (and) full of the poison of death.
9 Mit ihr preisen wir den Herrn und Vater, und mit ihr verfluchen wir die Menschen, die nach Gottes Bild geworden sind.
For by it we bless the Lord and the Father, and by it we curse men who in the likeness of Aloha were made;
10 Aus demselben Munde gehet Segen und Fluch. Es soll nicht, meine Brüder, also sein.
and from the same mouth go forth curses and blessings. My brethren, it is not fit that these should so be done.
11 Sprudelt denn die Quelle aus einer Mündung süß und bitter?
Can it be that one fountain shall send forth waters sweet and bitter?
12 Kann denn, meine Brüder, der Feigenbaum Oliven geben, oder der Weinstock Feigen? Noch vermag die Salzquelle süße Wasser zu geben.
Or can the fig-tree, my brethren, make olives, or the vines figs? thus also salt waters cannot be made sweet.
13 Wer ist unter euch weise und einsichtsvoll? er zeige an seinem guten Wandel seine Werke in der Sanftmut der Weisheit.
Who of you is wise and instructed? let him show his works in good conversations in meek wisdom.
14 Wenn ihr aber bitteren Neid und Hader in eurem Herzen habt, so rühmet euch nicht und lüget nicht wider die Wahrheit.
But if you have bitter envy among yourselves, or contention be in your hearts, be not inflated against the truth, nor lie;
15 Das ist nicht die Weisheit, die von oben kommt, sondern eine irdische, seelische, dämonische.
because this wisdom from above descendeth not; but is earthly, from the reasonings of the soul, and from demons.
16 Denn wo Neid und Hader ist, da ist nichts verläßig und lauter Schlechtigkeit.
For where there are envy and contention, there also are tumult and every thing that is evil.
17 Die Weisheit von oben aber ist fürs erste keusch, dann friedfertig, nachgiebig, folgsam, voll Erbarmen und guter Früchte, ohne Zweifel, ohne Heuchelei.
But the wisdom that is from above is pure, and full of peace, and meekness, and obedience, and full of mercies and good fruits, and is without division, and faces accepteth not.
18 Die Frucht der Gerechtigkeit aber wird im Frieden ausgesät bei denen, welche Frieden halten.
But the fruits of righteousness in quietness are sown by them who make peace.
