Jakobus 1
1 Jakobus, Gottes und des Herrn Jesus Christus Knecht an die zwölf Stämme in der Diaspora seinen Gruß.
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2 Achtet es für lauter Freude, meine Brüder, wenn ihr in mancherlei Versuchungen fallt,
My brethren, count it all joy when all of you fall into divers temptations;
3 in der Erkenntnis, daß eure Glaubensprobe Ausdauer wirkt.
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience.
4 Die Ausdauer aber soll es zum vollendeten Werk bringen, daß ihr vollkommen seid und ohne Fehl, in nichts zurück.
But let patience have her perfect work, that all of you may be perfect and entire, lacking nothing.
5 Wenn aber einer von euch an Weisheit zurück ist, so bitte er bei Gott, welcher allen gibt ohne weiteres, und nicht vorhält, so wird es ihm gegeben werden.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and reproaches not; and it shall be given him.
6 Er bitte aber im Glauben und ohne Zweifel; denn wer zweifelt, gleicht einer Meereswelle, die vom Winde bewegt und hin und her getrieben wird.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 Ein solcher Mensch meine doch nicht, daß er etwas von dem Herrn empfangen werde,
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 ein Mann mit geteilter Seele, unbeständig in allen seinen Wegen.
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
9 Es rühme sich aber der niedrige Bruder über seine Höhe,
Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
10 der Reiche aber über seine Niedrigkeit, weil er wie die Blume des Grases vergehen wird.
But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
11 Denn die Sonne gieng auf mit ihrer Glut und verdorrte das Gras, und seine Blume fiel aus und ihr liebliches Ansehen war dahin; so wird auch der Reiche auf seinen Wegen verwelken.
For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withers the grass, and the flower thereof falls, and the grace of the fashion of it perishes: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
12 Selig der Mann, der Versuchung erduldet; denn wenn er bewährt ward, wird er den Kranz des Lebens empfangen, den er verheißen hat denen, die ihn lieben.
Blessed is the man that endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to them that love him.
13 Niemand sage, wenn er versucht wird: ich werde von Gott aus versucht; denn für Gott gibt es keine Versuchung zum Bösen, er versucht keinen.
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempts he any man:
14 Vielmehr wird jeder so versucht, daß er von seiner eigenen Lust hingezogen und gelockt wird.
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Dann, wenn die Lust empfangen hat, gebiert sie Sünde; die Sünde aber, wenn sie vollbracht ist, gebiert Tod.
Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.
16 Lasset euch nicht täuschen, meine teuren Brüder;
Do not go astray, my beloved brethren.
17 alles was gute Gabe und vollkommenes Geschenk ist, ist von oben her, es kommt herab vom Vater der Lichter, bei welchem keine Veränderung statthat noch ein Schatten von Wandel.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Er hat es gewollt und hat uns geboren durch das Wort der Wahrheit, daß wir seien eine Art Erstlingsfrucht unter seinen Geschöpfen.
Of his own will brings forth he us with the word (logos) of truth, that we should be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.
19 Ihr wißt es, meine geliebten Brüder. Es sei jeder Mensch rasch zum Hören, langsam zum Reden, langsam zum Zorne.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 Denn eines Mannes Zorn wirkt nicht Gottes Gerechtigkeit.
For the wrath of man works not the righteousness of God.
21 Darum leget allen Schmutz und Auswuchs von Bosheit ab, und nehmet in Sanftmut das echte Wort an, das eure Seelen erretten kann.
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and abundance of evil, and receive with meekness the implanted word, (logos) which is able to save your souls.
22 Werdet aber Thäter des Wortes und nicht allein Hörer, euch selbst zu betrügen.
But be all of you doers of the word, (logos) and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 Denn wenn einer Hörer des Wortes ist und nicht Thäter, der gleicht einem Manne, der sein natürliches Antlitz im Spiegel betrachtet.
For if any be a hearer of the word, (logos) and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 Er betrachtete sich, und gieng hin und vergaß alsbald, wie er war.
For he beholds himself, and goes his way, and immediately forgets what manner of man he was.
25 Wer aber hineingesehen hat in das vollkommene Gesetz der Freiheit und dabei blieb, wer nicht ein vergeßlicher Hörer war sondern ein wirklicher Thäter, der wird selig sein in seinem Thun.
But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26 Wenn einer meint fromm zu sein, und zügelt seine Zunge nicht, sondern betrügt sein Herz, dessen Frömmigkeit ist umsonst.
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
27 Reine Frömmigkeit, fleckenlose vor Gott dem Vater ist das: nach den Waisen und Witwen sehen in ihrer Trübsal, sich selbst frei halten vom Schmutz der Welt.
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
