Jesaja 42
1 Sieh da mein Knecht, den ich aufrecht halte, mein Erwählter, an dem ich Wohlgefallen habe! Ich habe meinen Geist auf ihn gelegt: er wird den Völkern das Recht verkünden.
“Here is My Servant, whom I uphold, My Chosen One, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will bring justice to the nations.
2 Er wird nicht schreien, noch laut rufen und nicht auf den Gassen seine Stimme erschallen lassen.
He will not cry out or raise His voice, nor make His voice heard in the streets.
3 Zerknicktes Rohr wird er nicht vollends zerbrechen und glimmenden Docht wird er nicht auslöschen: Der Wahrheit gemäß wird er das Recht verkünden.
A bruised reed He will not break and a smoldering wick He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth justice.
4 Er wird nicht ermatten und nicht zusammenbrechen, bis er auf Erden das Recht gegründet hat, und seiner Unterweisung harren bereits die Inseln.
He will not grow weak or discouraged before He has established justice on the earth. In His law the islands will put their hope.”
5 So spricht Gott, Jahwe, der den Himmel schuf und ihn ausspannte, der die Erde hinbreitete mit ihren Gewächsen, der Odem gab dem Menschenvolk auf ihr und Lebenshauch denen, die auf ihr wandeln:
This is what God the LORD says— He who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and its offspring, who gives breath to the people on it and life to those who walk in it:
6 Ich, Jahwe, habe dich berufen in Gerechtigkeit, und will dich bei deiner Hand ergreifen und will dich behüten und dich machen zum Vertreter des Bundes mit dem Volk Israel, zu einem Licht für die Heiden,
“I, the LORD, have called you for a righteous purpose, and I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and appoint you to be a covenant for the people and a light to the nations,
7 indem ich blinde Augen aufthue, Gefangene aus dem Kerker befreie, aus dem Gefängnisse die, die im Dunklen sitzen.
to open the eyes of the blind, to bring prisoners out of the dungeon and those sitting in darkness out from the prison house.
8 Ich, Jahwe, - das ist mein Name! Und ich will meine Herrlichkeit keinem anderen abtreten, noch meinen Ruhm den Götzen.
I am the LORD; that is My name! I will not yield My glory to another or My praise to idols.
9 Das Frühere ist nun eingetroffen und Neues verkündige ich; ehe es in die Erscheinung tritt, thue ich's euch kund.
Behold, the former things have happened, and now I declare new things. Before they spring forth I proclaim them to you.”
10 Singt Jahwe einen neuen Sang, verkündigt seinen Ruhm am Ende der Erde: Es erbrause das Meer und was es erfüllt, die Inseln samt ihren Bewohnern!
Sing to the LORD a new song— His praise from the ends of the earth— you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who dwell in them.
11 Laut rufe die Wüste und ihre Städte, - die Gehöfte, die Kedar bewohnt! Jubeln sollen die Felsenbewohner, sollen aufjauchzen von den Gipfeln der Berge!
Let the desert and its cities raise their voices; let the villages of Kedar cry aloud. Let the people of Sela sing for joy; let them cry out from the mountaintops.
12 Sie sollen Jahwe die Ehre geben und seinen Ruhm auf den Inseln verkündigen!
Let them give glory to the LORD and declare His praise in the islands.
13 Jahwe zieht aus wie ein Held, wie ein Kriegsmann weckt er Kampfeseifer: Den Schlachtruf erhebt er, ja er schreit laut; gegen seine Feinde erweist er sich als Held!
The LORD goes forth like a mighty one; He stirs up His zeal like a warrior. He shouts; yes, He roars in triumph over His enemies:
14 Geschwiegen habe ich seit langer Zeit, blieb stille, hielt an mich: einer Gebärenden gleich will ich nun aufstöhnen, will schnaufen und schnappen zumal.
“I have kept silent from ages past; I have remained quiet and restrained. But now I will groan like a woman in labor; I will at once gasp and pant.
15 Ich will die Berge und die Hügel verwüsten und all ihr Grün verdorren lassen; ich will Ströme in Inseln verwandeln und Teiche austrocknen.
I will lay waste the mountains and hills and dry up all their vegetation. I will turn the rivers into dry land and drain the marshes.
16 Und ich will Blinde auf einem Wege wandeln lassen, den sie bisher nicht kannten; Pfade, die sie nicht kannten, will ich sie betreten lassen. Ich wandle die Dunkelheit vor ihnen her in Licht und was holpricht ist, mache ich eben. Das ist die Verheißung - sie führe ich aus und lasse sie nicht fallen!
I will lead the blind by a way they did not know; I will guide them on unfamiliar paths. I will turn darkness into light before them and rough places into level ground. These things I will do for them, and I will not forsake them.
17 Zurückgewichen sind alsdann, gänzlich zu Schanden müssen werden, die auf Götzen vertrauten, die zu Gußbildern sprachen: Ihr seid unsere Götter!
But those who trust in idols and say to molten images, ‘You are our gods!’ will be turned back in utter shame.
18 Ihr Tauben hört, und ihr Blinden, blickt auf, um zu sehn!
Listen, you deaf ones; look, you blind ones, that you may see!
19 Wer ist blind, wenn nicht mein Knecht? und so taub wie mein Bote, den ich sende? Wer ist so blind wie der Vertraute und so blind wie der Knecht Jahwes?
Who is blind but My servant, or deaf like the messenger I am sending? Who is blind like My covenant partner, or blind like the servant of the LORD?
20 Gesehen hast du vieles, ohne es zu beachten, hattest die Ohren offen, ohne zu hören.
Though seeing many things, you do not keep watch. Though your ears are open, you do not hear.”
21 Jahwe gefiel es um seiner Gerechtigkeit willen, seine Unterweisung groß und herrlich zu machen.
The LORD was pleased, for the sake of His righteousness, to magnify His law and make it glorious.
22 Und doch ist's jetzt noch ein beraubtes und geplündertes Volk: Verstrickt sind sie in Löchern insgesamt und in Gefängnissen verborgen gehalten; sie sind zum Raube geworden, ohne daß jemand retten könnte, zur Beute, ohne daß jemand spräche: Gieb heraus!
But this is a people plundered and looted, all trapped in caves or imprisoned in dungeons. They have become plunder with no one to rescue them, and loot with no one to say, “Send them back!”
23 Wer unter euch will auf Folgendes hören, will darauf merken und es künftig beachten:
Who among you will pay attention to this? Who will listen and obey hereafter?
24 Wer hat Jakob zur Beraubung preisgegeben und Israel den Plünderern? War es nicht Jahwe, gegen den wir uns versündigt haben, - auf dessen Wegen man nicht wandeln wollte und auf dessen Weisung man nicht hörte?
Who gave Jacob up for spoil, and Israel to the plunderers? Was it not the LORD, against whom we have sinned? They were unwilling to walk in His ways, and they would not obey His law.
25 Da schüttete er über ihn eine Zornesglut aus und des Krieges Wut, daß sie ihn rings umloderte, ohne daß er's merkte, und ihn in Brand steckte, ohne daß er sich's zu Herzen nahm.
So He poured out on them His furious anger and the fierceness of battle. It enveloped them in flames, but they did not understand; it consumed them, but they did not take it to heart.
