Jesaja 29
1 Ach Ariel, Ariel, du Stadt, wo David Lager schlug! Fügt Jahr zu Jahr! Wenn die Feste ihren Umlauf vollendet haben,
Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the town where David dwelt! add ye year to year; let the festivals come round in order;
2 so will ich Ariel bedrängen, daß Wehklage und Klage entsteht, und sie soll mir wie Ariel werden!
Yet will I distress Ariel, and there shall be groaning and wailing: and it shall be unto me like Ariel.
3 Da will ich mein Lager rings im Kreise wider dich aufschlagen und dich mit einem Wall einengen und Schanzen gegen dich aufrichten,
And I will encamp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with hostile posts, and I will raise up entrenchments against thee.
4 daß du tief drunten vom Boden her reden und gebeugt aus dem Staub hervor sprechen sollst, daß deine Stimme der eines Gespenstes aus der Erde gleichen und deine Rede aus dem Staub hervor flüstern soll.
And brought down low, shalt thou speak [as though] out of the earth, and out of the dust shall come forth thy speech; and like one of a familiar spirit out of the earth shall be thy voice, and out of the dust shalt thou whisper forth thy speech.
5 Aber der Schwarm deiner Feinde soll wie feiner Staub werden, und der Schwarm der Gewaltthätigen wie Spreu, die dahinfährt! Es soll im Augenblicke, plötzlich geschehen!
And like the small dust shall be the multitude of thy barbarian enemies, and like the passing chaff the multitude of tyrants; and [this] shall be at unawares, suddenly.
6 Von seiten Jahwes der Heerscharen soll Heimsuchung erfolgen mit Donner und Erdbeben und lautem Schall, mit Sturm und Wetter und der Flamme verzehrendes Feuers.
From the Lord of hosts shall the visitation come with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the devouring flame of fire.
7 Und wie in einem Traum, einem nächtlichen Gesichte soll es dem Schwarm aller der Völker ergehen, die wider Ariel zu Felde liegen, und aller, die wider sie und ihre Bergfeste zu Felde liegen und sie bedrängen.
And as a dream of a night-vision shall be the multitude of all the nations that go to war against Ariel, even all that fight against her and raise towers against her, and that distress her.
8 Und gleichwie ein Hungriger träumt, er esse, dann aber mit ungestillter Gier aufwacht - und gleichwie ein Durstiger träumt, er trinke, dann aber matt und mit lechzender Gier aufwacht - also wird es dem Schwarm aller der Völker ergehen, die wider den Berg Zion zu Felde liegen!
And it shall even be as when a hungry man dreameth, that, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty; or as when a thirsty man dreameth, that, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul yet longeth: so shall it be with the multitude of all the nations, that go to war against mount Zion.
9 Stieret und staunet! Blendet euch und erblindet! Sie sind trunken, doch nicht von Wein; sie wanken, doch nicht von Rauschtrank.
Stay but still and wonder; turn your eyes away, and be blinded; they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.
10 Weil Jahwe einen Geist tiefen Schlafs über euch ausgegossen und eure Augen, die Propheten, verschlossen und eure Häupter, die Seher, verhüllt hat,
For the Lord hath poured out over you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: [over] the prophets, and your chiefs, the seers, hath he cast a vail.
11 so ergeht es euch mit dem Weissagen von all' diesen Dingen wie mit den Worten eines versiegelten Buchs, das man dem, der sich auf Geschriebenes versteht, mit der Aufforderung giebt: Lies das einmal! worauf er versetzt: Ich kann nicht, weil es versiegelt ist!
And the vision of every thing is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that can read, saying, Read this, I pray thee; and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
12 Übergiebt man aber das Buch einem, der sich nicht auf Geschriebenes versteht, mit der Aufforderung: Lies das einmal! so versetzt: Ich verstehe mich nicht auf Geschriebenes!
And the book is then delivered to one that cannot read, saying, Read this, I pray thee; and he saith, I cannot read.
13 Und der Herr sprach: Weil sich dieses Volk mit seinem Munde naht und mit seinen Lippen mich ehrt, sein Herz aber fern von mir hält, und ihre Gottesfurcht angelerntes Menschengebot ist,
And the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near with their mouth, and with their lips do honor me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is but the acquired precept of men;
14 darum handle ich nun mit diesem Volke noch einmal wunderbar, wunderbar und wundersam, daß die Weisheit seiner Weisen zu nicht wird und die Klugheit seiner Klugen sich verbirgt.
Therefore, behold, I will do yet farther a marvelous work with this people, doing wonder on wonder; so that the wisdom of their wise men shall be lost, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.
15 Wehe denen, die ihre Pläne vor Jahwe tief verbergen, so daß ihr Thun im Finstern geschieht, und dabei denken: Wer sieht uns und wer kennt uns?
Woe unto those that seek to hide deeply their counsel from the Lord, so that their works may be in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
16 O über eure Verkehrtheit! Oder darf der Töpfer dem Thone gleich geachtet werden? Daß das Geschöpf von seinem Schöpfer sagen könnte: Er hat mich nicht geschaffen! und der Topf von dem Töpfer sagen könnte: Er versteht nichts!
Oh your perverseness! shall the potter be esteemed as the clay? that the work shall say of its maker, He hath not made me? or shall the thing framed say of its framer, He had no understanding?
17 Ist es denn nicht nur noch eine kurze, kleine Weile, daß sich der Libanon in einen Fruchtgarten verwandeln, und der Fruchtgarten für Wald gelten wird?
Lo! but yet a very little while more, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest!
18 An jenem Tage werden die Tauben geschriebene Worte vernehmen, und die Augen der Blinden aus Dunkel und Finsternis heraus sehen können.
And on that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and out of obscurity, and out of darkness, shall the eyes of the blind see.
19 Die Dulder werden sich aufs neue Jahwes freuen, und die Ärmsten der Menschen über den Heiligen Israels jubeln.
And the sufferers shall have abundant joy in the Lord, and the needy among men shall be glad in the Holy One of Israel.
20 Denn Gewaltthätige wird es nicht mehr geben und mit den Spöttern ein Ende haben, und alle, die auf Bosheit bedacht sind, werden ausgerottet sein,
For the tyrant is no more, and consumed is the scorner, and cut off are all that watch for injustice;
21 die die Leute in einer Rechtssache zur Sünde verleiten und dem Richter im Thore Schlingen legen und das Recht Unschuldiger durch Nichtigkeiten beugen.
That cause mankind to sin by [their] word; and lay a snare for him that reproveth [them] in the gate; and pervert through fraud the cause of the just.
22 Darum hat Jahwe, der Abraham erlöste, also vom Hause Jakobs gesprochen: Nicht wird alsdann Jakob enttäuscht werden, nicht wird alsdann sein Antlitz erblassen,
Therefore thus hath said the Lord unto the house of Jacob, he who hath redeemed Abraham, Not now shall Jacob be ashamed, and not now shall his face be made pale.
23 sondern wenn er - seine Kinder - das Werk meiner Hände an ihm sehen wird, so werden sie meinen Namen heilig halten. Sie werden den Heiligen Jakobs heilig halten und vor dem Gott Israels Schrecken empfinden;
For when he seeth his children, the work of my hands in the midst of him, how they sanctify my name: then will they sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and the God of Israel will they reverence.
24 die verirrtes Geistes waren, werden Einsicht lernen, und die murrten, werden Belehrung annehmen.
They also that were erring in spirit shall acquire understanding, and they that murmured shall obtain instruction.
