Jesaja 2

1 Das Wort, das Jesaja, der Sohn des Amoz, über Juda und Jerusalem empfing:

The worde that Isaiah the sonne of Amoz sawe vpon Iudah and Ierusalem.

2 In der letzten Zeit aber wird der Berg mit dem Tempel Jahwes fest gegründet stehen als der höchste unter den Bergen und über die Hügel erhaben sein, und alle Heiden werden zu ihm strömen,

It shall be in the last dayes, that the mountaine of the house of the Lord shalbe prepared in the top of the mountaines, and shall be exalted aboue the hilles, and all nations shall flowe vnto it.

3 und viele Völker sich aufmachen und sprechen: Auf, laßt uns hinaufsteigen zum Berge Jahwes, zum Tempel des Gottes Jakobs, damit er uns über seine Wege belehre, und wir auf seinen Pfaden wandeln! Denn von Zion wird Lehre ausgehen und das Wort Jahwes von Jerusalem.

And many people shall go, and say, Come, and let vs go vp to the mountaine of the Lord, to the house of the God of Iaakob, and hee will teach vs his wayes, and we will walke in his paths: for the Lawe shall go foorth of Zion, and the worde of the Lord from Ierusalem,

4 Und er wird zwischen den Heiden richten und vielen Völkern Recht sprechen, und sie werden ihre Schwerter zu Karsten umschmieden und ihre Spieße zu Winzermessern. Kein Volk wird mehr gegen das andere das Schwert erheben und nicht mehr werden sie den Krieg erlernen.

And he shall iudge among the nations, and rebuke many people: they shall breake their swords also into mattocks, and their speares into siethes: nation shall not lift vp a sworde against nation, neither shall they learne to fight any more.

5 Haus Jakobs, auf! Laßt uns wandeln im Lichte Jahwes!

O house of Iaakob, come ye, and let vs walke in the Lawe of the Lord.

6 Denn du hast dein Volk verstoßen; das Haus Jakobs. Denn sie sind voll von Wahrsagerei aus dem Osten und von Zauberern wie die Philister und schlagen in die Hand der Fremden ein.

Surely thou hast forsaken thy people, the house of Iaakob, because they are full of the East maners, and are sorcerers as the Philistims, and abound with strange children.

7 Ihr Land ward voll Silber und Gold - unermeßlich sind ihre Schätze -, ihr Land ward voll Rosse - unzählbar sind ihre Wagen -,

Their land also was full of siluer and golde, and there was none ende of their treasures: and their land was full of horses, and their charets were infinite.

8 ihr Land ward voll Götzen - vor dem Werk ihrer Hände werden sie sich nieder, vor dem, was ihre Finger gemacht haben.

Their land also was full of idols: they worshipped the worke of their owne hands, which their owne fingers haue made.

9 Da beugte sich der Mensch und demütigte sich der Mann, und du darfst ihnen nicht vergeben.

And a man bowed himselfe, and a man humbled himselfe: therefore spare them not.

10 Verkrieche dich in die Felsen und verbirg dich im Staub vor dem Schrecken Jahwes und vor seiner majestätischen Pracht.

Enter into the rocke, and hide thee in the dust from before the feare of the Lord, and from the glory of his maiestie.

11 Und der Menschen Stolz wird gebeugt und der Männer Hochmut gedemütigt, und nur Jahwe wird an jenem Tag erhaben sein!

The hie looke of man shall be humbled, and the loftinesse of men shalbe abased, and the Lord onely shall be exalted in that day.

12 Denn ein Tag Jahwes der Heerscharen wird kommen über alles Stolze und Hohe, und über alles Erhabene, daß es erniedrigt werde,

For the day of the Lord of hostes is vpon all the proude and hautie, and vpon all that is exalted: and it shalbe made lowe.

13 über alle die hohen und erhabenen Cedern des Libanon und über alle Basanseichen,

Euen vpon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are hie and exalted, and vpon all the okes of Bashan,

14 über alle die hohen Berge und über alle die hochragenden Hügel,

And vpon all the hie mountaines, and vpon all the hilles that are lifted vp,

15 über jeden hohen Turm und über jede steile Mauer,

And vpon euery hie tower, and vpon euery strong wall,

16 über alle die Tarsisschiffe und über alle die kostbaren Schaustücke.

And vpon all the shippes of Tarshish, and vpon all pleasant pictures.

17 Dann wird der Menschen Stolz gebeugt und der Männer Hochmut gedemütigt, und nur Jahwe wird an jenem Tag erhaben sein!

And the hautinesse of men shalbe brought low, and the loftinesse of men shalbe abased, and the Lord shall onely be exalted in that day.

18 Und die Götzen - das alles fährt dahin!

And the idoles will he vtterly destroy.

19 Da wird man in Felshöhlen gehen und in Erdlöcher vor dem Schrecken Jahwes und vor seiner majestätischen Pracht, wenn er sich erhebt, um die Erde zu schrecken.

Then they shall goe into the holes of the rockes, and into the caues of the earth, from before the feare of the Lord, and from the glory of his maiestie, when he shall arise to destroy the earth.

20 An jenem Tage werden die Menschen ihre silbernen und goldenen Götzen, die sie sich zur Anbetung gemacht haben, den Ratten und Fledermäusen hinwerfen,

At that day shall man cast away his siluer idoles, and his golden idoles (which they had made themselues to worship them) to the mowles and to the backes,

21 um sich in Bergklüfte und in die Risse der Felsen zu verkriechen vor dem Schrecken Jahwes und vor seiner majestätischen Pracht, wenn er sich erhebt, um die Erde zu schrecken.

To goe into the holes of the rockes, and into the toppes of the ragged rockes from before the feare of the Lord, and from the glory of his maiestie, when he shall rise to destroy the earth.

22 Sagt euch doch los von den Menschen, die nichts als Hauch in der Nase haben! Denn wofür sind sie zu achten?

Cease you from the man whose breath is in his nostrels: for wherein is he to be esteemed?
