Hosea 5
1 Hört dieses, ihr Priester! Merkt auf, ihr Israeliten, und gebt acht, ihr Männer am Königshofe! Denn euch geht der Handel an, weil ihr eine Schlinge für Mizpa geworden seid und ein Fangnetz, ausgespannt auf dem Thabor,
Hear these things, you priests; and attend, O house of Israel; and listen, O house of the king; for the controversy is with you, because you have been a snare in Scopia, and as a net spread on Itabyrium,
2 und eine tiefe Fallgrube in Sittim. Ich aber willl für sie alle eine Zuchtrute werden!
which they that hunt the prey have fixed: but I will correct you.
3 Ich kenne ja Ephraim, und Israel kann sich nicht vor mir verbergen; denn eben jetzt hast du, Ephraim, dem Götzendienste gehuldigt, hat sich Israel mit Unreinem befleckt.
I know Ephraim, and Israel is not far from me: for now Ephraim has gone grievously a-whoring, Israel is defiled.
4 Ihre eigenen Handlungen erlauben ihnen nicht, zu ihrem Gotte zurückzukehren; denn ein hurerischer Geist wohnt in ihnen und Erkenntnis Jahwes besitzen sie nicht.
They have not framed their counsels to return to their God, for the spirit of fornication is in them, and they have not known the Lord.
5 Aber der, der Israels Ruhm ist, wird gegen sie Zeugnis ablegen, daß Israel und Ephraim ob ihrer Verschuldung zu Falle kommen; - zu Falle kommen wird auch Juda mit ihnen.
And the pride of Israel shall be brought low before his face; and Israel and Ephraim shall fall in their iniquities; and Judas also shall fall with them.
6 Wenn sie sich dann mit ihren Schafen und Rindern aufmachen, um Jahwe zu suchen, werden sie ihn nicht finden: er hat sich von ihnen losgesagt.
They shall go with sheep and calves diligently to seek the Lord; but they shall not find him, for he has withdrawn himself from them.
7 Gegen Jahwe sind sie treulos gewesen; denn sie haben ihm unechte Kinder erzeugt. Daher soll eine Neumondfeier sie samt ihren Äckern verzehren!
For they have forsaken the Lord; for strange children have been born to them: now shall the cankerworm devour them and their heritages.
8 Stoßt in die Posaune in Gibea, in die Trompete zu Rama! Erhebt Kriegsgeschrei in Bethaven! Nimm dich in acht, Benjamin!
Blow you the trumpet on the hills, sound aloud on the heights: proclaim in the house of On, Benjamin is amazed.
9 Ephraim soll zu einer Einöde werden am Tage der Züchtigung. Sicheres verkündige ich über die Stämme Israels!
Ephraim has come to nothing in the days of reproof: in the tribes of Israel I have shown faithful [dealings].
10 Die Häupter der Judäer gleichen solchen, die Grenzsteine verrücken; über sie will ich meinen Zorn ausschütten, wie man Wasser ausschüttet.
The princes of Juda became as they that removed the bounds: I will pour out upon them my fury as water.
11 In Ephraim läßt man das Recht Gewalt leiden, läßt man es mit Füßen treten; denn es hat sich unterstanden, den nichtigen Götzen zu folgen.
Ephraim altogether prevailed against his adversary, he trod judgment under foot, for he began to go after vanities.
12 So ward ich für Ephraim zur Motte und für die Judäer zum nagenden Wurm.
Therefore I [will be] as consternation to Ephraim, and as a goad to the house of Juda.
13 Als da Ephraim seine Krankheit merkte, und Juda seine Beule, wandte sich Ephraim an Assur und sandte zum König von Jareb. Der aber vermag euch nicht Genesung zu bringen und eurer Beule nicht Heilung,
And Ephraim saw his disease, and Judas his pain; then Ephraim went to the Assyrians, and sent ambassadors to king Jarim: but he could not heal you, and your pain shall in nowise cease from you.
14 weil ich selbst wie ein Löwe gegen Ephraim auftreten werde und wie ein Jungleu gegen das Reich Juda! Ich, ich werde rauben und abziehen, werde wegschleppen, ohne daß jemand errettet,
Therefore I am as a panther to Ephraim, and as a lion to the house of Juda: and I will tear, and go away; and I will take, and there shall be none to deliver.
15 werde abziehen und zu meiner Stätte zurückkehren. Denn endlich werden sie ihre Schuld fühlen und mein Antlitz suchen; wenn sie in Not sind, werden sie sich nach mir sehnen:
I will go and return to my place, until they are brought to nothing, and [then] shall they seek my face.
