Esra 10
1 Als nun Esra so betete und weinend vor dem Tempel Gottes hingestreckt sein Bekenntnis ablegte, hatte sich eine sehr große Schar von Israeliten um ihn versammelt, Männer und Weiber und Kinder; denn auch das Volk war in heftiges Weinen ausgebrochen.
Therefore, as Ezra was praying, and imploring, and weeping in this way, and was prostrate before the temple of God, an exceedingly great assembly of men and women and children was gathered to him from Israel. And the people wept with a great weeping.
2 Da hob Sechanja, der Sohn Jehïels, von den Nachkommen Elams, an und sprach zu Esra: Wir haben uns vergangen gegen unseren Gott, daß wir fremde Weiber von den Bewohnern des Landes heimgeführt haben; doch ist dieserhalb jetzt noch Hoffnung für Israel!
And Shecaniah, the son of Jehiel, from the sons of Elam, responded and said to Ezra: “We have sinned against our God, and have taken foreign wives from the peoples of the land. And now, if there is repentance within Israel over this,
3 So laßt uns jetzt unserem Gotte feierlich geloben, alle solche Weiber und was von ihnen geboren ist, kraft der Entschließung meines Herrn und derer, die vor dem Gesetz unseres Gottes Ehrfurcht haben, fortzuschaffen, und nach dem Gesetze soll verfahren werden.
let us strike a pact with the Lord our God, so that we may cast aside all the wives, and those who have been born from them, in accord with the will of the Lord, and of those who fear the precept of the Lord our God. So let it be done, according to the law.
4 Stehe auf, denn dir liegt die Sache ob, und wir werden dir beistehen; ermanne dich und handle!
Rise up. It is for you to discern, and we shall be with you. Be strengthened and act.”
5 Da erhob sich Esra und ließ die Obersten der Priester und der Leviten und von ganz Israel schwören, demgemäß zu handeln, und sie schwuren.
Therefore, Ezra rose up, and he caused the leaders of the priests and the Levites, and all of Israel, to swear that they would act in accord with this word. And they swore it.
6 Da verließ Esra den Platz vor dem Tempel Gottes und begab sich in die Zelle Johanans, des Sohnes Eljasibs. Dort übernachtete er, ohne Speise zu genießen oder Wasser zu trinken; denn er war in Bekümmernis über die Versündigung der Weggeführten.
And Ezra rose up before the house of God, and he went away to the chamber of Jehohanan, the son of Eliashib, and he entered into it. He did not eat bread, and he did not drink water. For he was mourning the transgression of those who had arrived from the captivity.
7 Hierauf ließ man in Juda und Jerusalem an alle aus der Gefangenschaft Zurückgekehrten Befehl ergehen, sich nach Jerusalem zu versammeln.
And a voice was sent into Judah and Jerusalem, to all the sons of the transmigration, so that they would gather together in Jerusalem.
8 Und wer irgend am dritten Tage nicht erscheinen würde, wie es der Beschluß der Obersten und der Vornehmen forderte, dessen gesamte Habe sollte dem Banne verfallen, und er selbst aus der Gemeinde der Weggeführten ausgeschlossen werden.
And all those who would not arrive within three days, in accord with the counsel of the leaders and the elders, would have all his substance taken away, and he would be cast out of the assembly of the transmigration.
9 Da versammelten sich alle Männer von Juda und Benjamin am dritten Tage nach Jerusalem, und zwar war es der neunte Monat, am zwanzigsten Tage des Monats. Und das ganze Volk saß auf dem freien Platze vor dem Tempel Gottes, zitternd um der Angelegenheit willen und infolge der Regengüsse.
And so, all the men of Judah and of Benjamin convened in Jerusalem within three days. This was in the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month. And all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of the sin and the rain.
10 Da erhob sich Esra, der Priester, und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr habt euch vergangen und habt fremde Weiber heimgeführt, um die Schuld Israels noch zu vermehren.
And Ezra, the priest, rose up, and he said to them: “You have transgressed, and you have taken foreign wives, so that you added to the offenses of Israel.
11 So legt nun vor Jahwe, dem Gott eurer Väter, das Bekenntnis eurer Sünde ab und thut seinen Willen, indem ihr euch von den Bewohnern des Landes und den fremden Weibern absondert.
And now, make confession to the Lord, the God of your fathers, and do what pleases him, and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from your foreign wives.”
12 Da antwortete die ganze Gemeinde und sprach mit lauter Stimme: So, wie du gesagt hast, liegt uns ob zu thun.
And the entire multitude responded, and they said with a great voice: “In accord with your word to us, so let be it done.
13 Jedoch das Volk ist zahlreich, und es ist die Regenzeit, so daß wir nicht im Freien bleiben können; auch ist das Geschäft nicht an einem oder in zwei Tagen zu erledigen, weil wir uns in dieser Angelegenheit vielfältig verschuldet haben.
Yet truly, since the people are many, and it is the time of rain, and we cannot endure standing outside, and this is not a task for one or two days, (for certainly we have sinned greatly in this matter, )
14 So mögen denn unsere Obersten für die ganze Gemeinde tagen; und alle die in unseren Städten, die fremde Weiber heimgeführt haben, sollen je zur anberaumten Zeit kommen, und mit ihnen die Vornehmen und Richter der einzelnen Städte, um endlich die Zornesglut unseres Gottes bezüglich dieser Angelegenheit von uns abzuwenden.
let leaders be appointed among the entire multitude. And in all our cities, let those who have taken foreign wives arrive at appointed times, and with them the elders from city to city, and the judges, until the wrath of our God has been averted from us over this sin.”
15 Nur Jonathan, der Sohn Asahels, und Jahseja, der Sohn Thikwas, traten hiergegen auf; und Mesullam und der Levit Sabthai unterstützten sie.
And so Jonathan, the son of Asahel, and Jahzeiah, the son of Tikvah, were appointed over this, and the Levites Meshullam and Shabbethai assisted them.
16 Da thaten die aus der Gefangenschaft Zurückgekehrten also. Und Esra, der Priester, wählte sich Männer aus, die Familienhäupter der einzelnen Familien, und zwar alle mit Namen; und sie hielten eine Sitzung am ersten Tage des zehnten Monats, um die Angelegenheit zu untersuchen.
And the sons of the transmigration did so. And Ezra, the priest, and the men who were the leaders of the families in the houses of their fathers, and all according to their names, went and sat down, on the first day of the tenth month, so that they might examine the matter.
17 Und sie erledigten allerwärts die Sache der Männer, die fremde Weiber heimgeführt hatten, bis zum ersten Tage des ersten Monats.
And they made an end with all the men who had taken foreign wives, by the first day of the first month.
18 Es fanden sich aber von den Nachkommen der Priester folgende, die fremde Weiber heimgeführt hatten: Von den Nachkommen Jesuas, des Sohnes Jozadaks, und seinen Brüdern: Maaseja, Eliëser, Jarib und Gedalja;
And there were found among the sons of the priests some who had taken foreign wives: From the sons of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and his brothers, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.
19 die gaben ihre Hand darauf, daß sie ihre Weiber fortschaffen und einen Widder als Buße für ihre Schuld entrichten wollten.
And they swore with their hands that they would cast aside their wives, and that they would offer for their offense a ram from among the sheep.
20 Von den Nachkommen Immers: Hanani und Sebadja.
And from the sons of Immer, Hanani and Zebadiah.
21 Von den Nachkommen Harims: Maaseja, Elia, Semaja, Jehïel und Usia.
And from the sons of Harim, Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.
22 Von den Nachkommen Pashurs: Eljoënai, Maaseja, Ismaël, Nethaneel, Josabad und Eleasa.
And from the sons of Pashhur, Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, and Elasah.
23 Und von den Leviten: Josabad, Simeï und Kelaja - das ist Kelita -, Pethahja, Juda und Eliëser.
And from the sons of the Levites, Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, the same is Kelita, Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.
24 Von den Sängern: Eljasib. Von den Thorhütern: Sallum, Telem und Uri.
And from the singing men, Eliashib. And from the gatekeepers, Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.
25 Von den gemeinen Israeliten: Von den Nachkommen Pareos': Ramja, Jisia, Malchia, Mijamin, Eleasar, Malchia und Benaja.
And out of Israel, from the sons of Parosh, Ramiah, and Izziah, and Malchijah, and Mijamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.
26 Von den Nachkommen Elams: Mattanja, Sacharja, Jehïel, Abdi, Jeremoth und Elia.
And from the sons of Elam, Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Elijah.
27 Von den Nachkommen Sattus: Eljoënai, Eljasib, Mattanja, Jeremoth, Sabad und Asisa.
And from the sons of Zattu, Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.
28 Von den Nachkommen Bebais: Johanan, Hananja, Sabbai, Athlai.
And from the sons of Bebai, Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.
29 Von den Nachkommen Banis: Mesullam, Malluch und Adaja, Jasub, Seal, Jeramoth.
And from the sons of Bani, Meshullam, and Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, and Ramoth.
30 Von den Nachkommen Pahath-Moabs: Adna, Kelal, Benaja, Maaseja, Mattanja, Bezaleel, Binnui und Manasse.
And from the sons of Pahath-moab, Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, and Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, Binnui, and Manasseh.
31 Und die Nachkommen Harims: Eliëser, Jisia, Malchia, Semaja, Simeon,
And from the sons of Harim, Eliezer, Jeshua, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Simeon,
32 Benjamin, Malluch, Semarja.
Benjamin, Malluch, Shemariah.
33 Von den Nachkommen Hasums: Mathnai, Mathatha, Sabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasse, Simeï.
And from the sons of Hashum, Mattenai, Mattettah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, Shimei.
34 Von den Nachkommen Banis: Maadai, Amram, Uël,
From the sons of Bani, Maadai, Amram, and Uel,
35 Benaja, Bedja, Keluhi,
Benaiah, and Bedeiah, Cheluhi,
36 Banja, Meremoth, Eljasib,
Vaniah, Meremoth, and Eliashib,
37 Mattanja, Mathnai, Jaasai,
Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasu,
38 Bani, Binnui, Simeï,
and Bani, and Binnui, Shimei,
39 Selemja, Nathan, Adaja,
and Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah,
40 Machnadbai, Sasai, Sarai,
and Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,
41 Asareel, Selemja, Semarja,
Azarel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,
42 Sallum, Amarja, Joseph.
Shallum, Amariah, Joseph.
43 Von den Nachkommen Nebos: Jeïel, Mattithja, Sabad, Sebina, Jaddai, Joël, Benaja.
From the sons of Nebo, Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jaddai, and Joel, and Benaiah.
44 Alle diese hatten fremde Weiber genommen; und sie entließen sie samt den Kindern.
All these had taken foreign wives, and there were among them women who had borne sons.
