2 Mose 22
1 Wenn jemand ein Rind oder ein Schaf stiehlt und es schlachtet oder verkauft, soll er fünf Stück Rinder für ein Rind und vier Stück Schafe für ein Schaf als Buße entrichten;
When a man stealeth an ox or a sheep, and slayeth it, or selleth it, with five of the herd, shall he make good—for the ox, or with four of the flock, for the sheep.
2 Wenn der Dieb beim nächtlichen Einbruch betroffen und dabei tot geschlagen wird, so erwächst für den Totschläger keine Blutschuld.
If, in the place of breaking in, the thief be found and he is smitten so that he dieth, there is due for him no shedding of blood:
3 Wenn ihm aber die Sonne bereits geschienen hat, so erwächst für ihn Blutschuld, er muß Ersatz leisten, und wenn er nicht hat, soll er als Entgelt für seinen Diebstahl als Sklave verkauft werden.
should the sun have arisen upon him, there would be shedding of blood due for him, —he is surely to make restitution, if he hath nothing, then is he to be sold, for his theft.
4 Wenn das gestohlene, sei es nun ein Rind oder ein Esel oder ein Schaf, lebendig bei ihm vorgefunden wird, so soll er je noch ein zweites Tier als Buße entrichten.
If the thing stolen is found in his hand—whether ox or ass or sheep, alive, with two, shall he make restitution.
5 Wenn jemand seinen Acker oder Weinberg beweiden, sein Vieh aber frei laufen läßt, und dasselbe auf einem fremden Acker etwas frißt, so soll er von dem seinigen entsprechend dem Ertrage desselben Ersatz leisten; wenn es aber den ganzen Acker abweidet, soll er das Beste von dem Ertrage seines Ackers oder Weinbergs als Ersatz entrichten.
When a man causeth a field or a vineyard to be depastured, or hath sent in his own cattle and stripped the field of another, he shall, surely make restitution, out of his own field, according to the yield thereof; or if, all the field, he depasture, with the best of his own field, or with the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.
6 Wenn Feuer auskommt und das Gestrüpp ergreift, hernach aber ein Getreidehaufen oder das in Halmen stehende Korn oder überhaupt Ackerfrüchte verbrennen, so muß der, welcher den Brand verursacht hat, vollen Ersatz leisten.
When a fire breaketh out and hath come upon thorns and so there is consumed a stack of sheaves, or the standing corn, or the field, he that kindled the fire, shall surely make restitution.
7 Wenn einer dem andern Geld oder Kostbarkeiten zum Aufbewahren übergeben hat, und dies aus dem Hause des Betreffenden gestohlen wird, so muß der Dieb, wenn er ausfindig gemacht wird, das Doppelte als Ersatz entrichten.
When a man giveth unto his neighbour silver or jewelry, to keep, and it is stolen out of the house of the man:
8 Wenn jedoch der Dieb nicht ausfindig gemacht wird, so soll der Besitzer des Hauses vor Gott hintreten, damit entschieden werde, daß er sich am Eigentume des anderen nicht vergriffen habe.
if the thief be found, he shall give in restitution double, if the thief be not found, then shall the owner of the house be brought near unto God to swear that he hath not laid his hand on the property of his neighbour.
9 Bei irgend einem Eigentumsverbrechen, mag es sich nun um ein Rind handeln oder um einen Esel, ein Schaf, ein Obergewand oder überhaupt etwas abhanden Gekommenes, von dem einer behauptet: das ist es! soll die Angelegenheit beider vor Gott gebracht werden, und wenn ihn Gott für schuldig erklärt, soll er dem anderen als Ersatz das Doppelte entrichten.
For any affair of trespass—for an ox, for an ass, for a sheep, for a mantle for anything lost as to which one could say—This is it, unto God, shall come the affair of them both, —he whom God shall condemn, shall make restitution of double to his neighbour.
10 Wenn einer dem anderen einen Esel oder ein Rind oder ein Schaf, überhaupt irgend ein Stück Vieh zum Hüten übergiebt, und dieses umkommt oder Schaden nimmt oder weggeschleppt wird, ohne daß es jemand sieht,
When a man delivereth unto his neighbour, an ass, or an ox or a sheep, or any beast, to keep, —and it dieth or is fractured, or is driven away, no one beholding,
11 so soll ein Eid bei Jahwe den Handel entscheiden, ob er sich etwa an dem Eigentume des anderen vergriffen hat; wenn der Besitzer diesen annimmt, braucht jener keinen Ersatz zu leisten.
the oath of Yahweh, shall come between them both, That he hath not laid his hand on the property of his neighbour, —then shall the owner thereof accept it and he shall not make restitution.
12 Wenn es ihm gestohlen worden ist, so soll er es seinem Besitzer ersetzen.
But, if it be verily stolen, from him, he shall make restitution to the owner thereof.
13 Wenn es von einem wilden Tiere zerrissen worden ist, und er es zum Beweise beibringen kann, braucht er für das Zerrissene keinen Ersatz zu leisten.
If it be, verily torn in pieces, he shall bring it in as a witness—for that which was torn, he shall not make restitution.
14 Wenn einer von dem anderen ein Stück Vieh entleiht, und dasselbe Schaden nimmt oder umkommt, ohne daß sein Besitzer zugegen gewesen ist, so muß es jener ersetzen.
And when a man asketh aught of his neighbour, and it is fractured or dieth, its owner, not being with it, he shall, surely make restitution.
15 Wenn aber der Besitzer zugegen gewesen ist, braucht der andere keinen Ersatz zu leisten. Ist er aber ein Löhner, so kommt es auf seinen Lohn.
If, its owner, was with it, he shall not make restitution, —if it is, hired, it cometh into its hire.
16 Wenn jemand eine Jungfrau, die noch unverlobt ist, verführt und ihr beiwohnt, so soll er für sie das Kaufgeld entrichten und sie sich zum Weibe nehmen.
And, when a man enticeth a virgin who is not betrothed, and lieth with her, he shall, surely pay a purchase-price, that she may be his wife.
17 Wenn sich jedoch ihr Vater weigern sollte, sie ihm zur Frau zu geben, so soll er so viel Silber darwägen, als das Kaufgeld für Jungfrauen beträgt.
If her father utterly refuse, to give her to him, silver, shall he weigh out, according to the purchase-price of virgins.
18 Eine Zauberin sollst du nicht am Leben lassen.
A sorceress, shalt thou not suffer to live.
19 Jeder, der mit einem Tiere Unzucht treibt, soll mit dem Tode bestraft werden.
Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
20 Wenn jemand den Götzen opfert, anstatt Jahwe allein, soll er dem Banne verfallen.
He that sacrificeth to the gods shall be devoted to destruction, —except [he sacrificeth] to Yahweh alone.
21 Einen Fremdling sollst du nicht drücken noch gewaltthätig behandeln; denn ihr seid auch Fremdlinge gewesen in Ägypten.
And, a sojourner, shalt thou not tread down neither shalt thou drive him away, —for sojourners, ye became in the land of Egypt.
22 Eine Witwe oder Waise sollt ihr nimmermehr bedrücken.
Neither widow nor fatherless, shalt thou humiliate:
23 Denn wenn du sie bedrückst, und sie dann um Hilfe zu mir schreit, so werde ich ihren Hilferuf sicher erhören
if thou, do humiliate, him, when he in anywise crieth out unto me, I will, surely hear, his outcry:
24 und werde in Zorn geraten und euch durch das Schwert umbringen, so daß eure eigenen Weiber Witwen und eure Kinder Waisen werden.
so shall kindle mine anger, and I will slay you with the sword, —and your wives, shall become widows, and your, sons fatherless.
25 Wenn du jemand aus meinem Volk, einem Armen, der bei dir wohnt, Geld leihst, so behandle ihn nicht wie ein Wucherer; ihr sollt ihm keine Zinsen auferlegen.
If, silver, thou wilt lend unto my people—unto the humbled one by thee, thou shalt not be to him like one that lendeth on interest, —thou shalt not lay upon him interest.
26 Wenn du einem das Obergewand als Pfand wegnimmst, so sollst du es ihm bis Sonnenuntergang zurückgeben.
If thou, do take in pledge, the mantle of thy neighbour, by the going in of the sun, shalt thou restore it to him;
27 Denn sein Mantel ist ja seine einzige Körperdecke; womit könnte er sich sonst auf seinem Lager zudecken? Wenn er mich aber um Hilfe anruft, so will ich ihn erhören; denn ich bin barmherzig.
for that is his only covering, that, is his mantle, for his skin, —wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass when he maketh outcry unto me, then will I hear because, gracious, I am.
28 Gott sollst du nicht lästern und einen Vorgesetzten deines Volkes nicht verwünschen.
God, shalt thou not revile, —and a prince among thy people, shalt thou not curse.
29 Deinen Überfluß und das Beste deines Kelterertrags sollst du nicht vorenthalten. Den Erstgeborenen deiner Söhne sollst du mir geben.
Thy fulness and thine outflow, shalt thou not delay, —the firstborn of thy sons, shalt thou give to me.
30 Ebenso sollst du es halten mit deinem Rind und deinem Schaf: sieben Tage hindurch soll es bei seiner Mutter bleiben; am achten Tage sollst du es mir darbringen.
Thus, shalt thou do with thine ox with thy sheep, —seven days, shall it be with its dam, on the eighth day, shalt thou give it to me.
31 Und ihr sollt mir reine Leute sein. Fleisch aber, das im Freien von wilden Tieren zerrissen worden ist, dürft ihr nicht genießen, sondern sollt es den Hunden vorwerfen.
Holy men, therefore shall ye truly become to me, —and flesh in the field torn to pieces, shall ye not eat, to the dogs, shall ye cast it.
