5 Mose 15

1 Am Ende von sieben Jahren sollst du einen Erlaß stattfinden lassen.

“At the end of seven years you make a release,

2 Und zwar hat es mit dem Erlasse folgende Bewandtnis: Jeder Gläubiger soll das Handdarlehen, das er seinem Nächsten gewährt hat, erlassen; er soll seinen Nächsten und Volksgenossen nicht drängen, denn man hat einen Erlaß zu Ehren Jahwes ausgerufen.

and this [is] the matter of the release: every owner of a loan [is] to release his hand which he lifts up against his neighbor, he does not exact of his neighbor and of his brother, but has proclaimed a release to YHWH;

3 Den Ausländer magst du drängen, das aber, was du von deinem Volksgenossen zu fordern hast, sollst du erlassen.

of the stranger you may exact, but that which is yours with your brother your hand releases,

4 Jedoch es wird keine Armen unter dir geben, - denn Jahwe wird dich reichlich segnen in dem Lande, das dir Jahwe, dein Gott, zum Erbbesitze geben wird, daß du es einnehmest,

except there is an end [when] no poor [are] with you; for YHWH greatly blesses you in the land which your God YHWH is giving to you [for] an inheritance to possess it,

5 falls du nur wirklich der Stimme Jahwes, deines Gottes, gehorchst, indem du auf die Befolgung aller dieser Gebote, die ich dir heute gebe, achtest.

only if you listen diligently to the voice of your God YHWH, to observe to do all this command which I am commanding you today.

6 Denn Jahwe, dein Gott, hat dir den Segen verliehen, wie er dir verheißen hat, so daß du vielen Völkern leihen wirst, selber aber nicht zu entlehnen brauchst, und daß du über viele Völker herrschen wirst; über dich aber soll keines herrschen.

For your God YHWH has blessed you as He has spoken to you; and you have lent [to] many nations, but you have not borrowed; and you have ruled over many nations, but they do not rule over you.

7 Wenn es unter dir einen Armen giebt, irgend einen deiner Volksgenossen in einer deiner Ortschaften in deinem Lande, das Jahwe, dein Gott, dir giebt, so sollst du nicht hartherzig sein und deine Hand vor deinem armen Volksgenossen nicht verschließen,

When there is with you any poor of one of your brothers, in one of your cities, in your land which your God YHWH is giving to you, you do not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your needy brother;

8 sondern vielmehr deine Hand für ihn aufthun und ihm gerne leihen, so viel er in seinem Mangel bedarf, der ihn betroffen hat.

for you certainly open your hand to him, and certainly lend him sufficiency for his lack which he lacks.

9 Hüte dich, daß nicht in deinem Herzen ein nichtswürdiger Gedanke aufsteige, nämlich: Das siebente Jahr, das Jahr des Erlasses, ist nahe! und daß du nicht einen mißgünstigen Blick auf deinen armen Volksgenossen werfest und ihm nichts gebest; wenn er dann deinetwegen zu Jahwe schreit, so wird eine Verschuldung auf dir lasten.

Take heed to yourself lest there be a worthless word in your heart, saying, The seventh year [is] near, the year of release; and your eye is evil against your needy brother, and you do not give to him, and he has called to YHWH concerning you, and it has been sin in you;

10 Vielmehr geben sollst du ihm und sollst, wenn du ihm giebst, nicht verdrießlichen Sinnes sein; denn um solcher That willen wird dich Jahwe, dein Gott, segnen bei allem deinem Thun und bei allem, was deine Hand unternimmt.

you certainly give to him, and your heart is not sad in your giving to him, for because of this thing your God YHWH blesses you in all your works and in every putting forth of your hand;

11 Denn niemals wird es im Land an Armen fehlen; darum gebiete ich dir: Thue gern für deinen dürftigen und armen Volksgenossen in deinem Lande deine Hand auf!

because the poor does not cease out of the land, therefore I am commanding you, saying, You certainly open your hand to your brother, to your poor and to your needy one in your land.

12 Wenn sich dir einer deiner VoIksgenossen, ein Hebräer oder eine Hebräerin, verkauft, so soll er sechs Jahre dein Sklave sein, im siebenten Jahre aber sollst du ihn frei ausgehen lassen.

When your brother is sold to you, a Hebrew or a Hebrewess, and he has served you [for] six years, then in the seventh year you send him away free from you.

13 Und wenn du ihn frei ausgehen lässest, so sollst du ihn nicht leer ziehen lassen.

And when you send him away free from you, you do not send him away empty;

14 Vielmehr sollst du ihm von deinen Schafen, von deiner Tenne und aus deiner Kelter eine gehörige Last mitgeben. Womit dich Jahwe, dein Gott, gesegnet hat, davon sollst du ihm geben

you certainly adorn him from your flock, and from your threshing-floor, and from your wine-vat; you give to him [from] that which your God YHWH has blessed you [with],

15 und sollst daran denken, daß du auch Sklave warst in Ägypten, und Jahwe, dein Gott, dich freigemacht hat; deshalb gebiete ich dir heute Solches.

and you have remembered that you have been a servant in the land of Egypt, and your God YHWH ransoms you; therefore I am commanding you this thing today.

16 Falls er aber zu dir sagt: Ich will nicht von dir wegziehen, - weil er dich und dein Haus lieb gewonnen hat, da es ihm wohl bei dir war, -

And it has been, when he says to you, I do not go out from you, because he has loved you and your house, because [it is] good for him with you,

17 so nimm den Pfriemen und bohre ihn durch sein Ohr in die Thüre, so ist er dann für immer dein Sklave, und auch mit deiner Sklavin sollst du so verfahren.

then you have taken the awl, and have put [it] through his ear, and through the door, and he has been a perpetual servant to you; and you also do so to your handmaid.

18 Es darf dir nicht schwer fallen, wenn du ihn frei ausgehen lassen mußt, denn, was an Wert das doppelte des Lohns eines Tagelöhners ausmacht, hat er dir sechs Jahre lang abverdient; und so wird dich Jahwe, dein Gott, segnen in allem, was du thust.

It is not hard in your eyes in your sending him away free from you; for [his worth has been] double the hire of a hired worker [when] he has served you six years; and your God YHWH has blessed you in all that you do.

19 Jedes männliche erstgeborne Stück, das dir unter deinen Rindern und Schafen geboren wird, sollst du Jahwe, deinem Gotte, weihen; mit den erstgebornen deiner Rinder darfst du nicht arbeiten und die erstgebornen deiner Schafe darfst du nicht scheren.

Every firstling that is born in your herd and in your flock—you sanctify the male to your God YHWH; you do not work with the firstling of your ox, nor shear the firstling of your flock;

20 An der Stätte, die Jahwe erwählt hat, mußt du sie Jahr für Jahr mit deiner Familie vor Jahwe, deinem Gotte, verzehren.

you eat it before your God YHWH year by year, in the place which YHWH chooses, you and your house.

21 Und wenn sie einen Makel haben, lahm oder blind sind oder irgend einen anderen schlimmen Makel haben, so darfst du sie Jahwe, deinem Gotte, nicht opfern.

And when there is a blemish in it, [or it is] lame or blind, [or has] any evil blemish, you do not sacrifice it to your God YHWH;

22 An deinem Wohnorte mußt du solche essen, der Unreine so gut, wie der Reine, wie eine Gazelle oder einen Hirsch.

you eat it within your gates, the unclean and the clean alike, as the roe and as the deer.

23 Nur ihr Blut darfst du nicht genießen; auf die Erde mußt du es fließen lassen wie Wasser.

Only, you do not eat its blood—you pour it on the earth as water.”
