Amos 7

1 Folgendes ließ mich der Herr Jahwe in einem Gesichte schauen: Heuschreckenlarven waren da, als die Sommersaat zu wachsen begann; es war aber Sommersaat nach der Schur des Königs.

Thus Lord YHWH has showed me, and behold, He is forming locusts at the beginning of the ascending of the latter growth, and behold, the latter growth [is] after the mowings of the king [[or King Gog]];

2 Als die das grüne Kraut des Landes ganz und gar abgefressen hatten, da bat ich: Herr Jahwe, vergieb doch! Wie wird Jakob bestehen können? Er ist ja so gering!

and it has come to pass, when it has finished to consume the herb of the land, that I say, “Lord YHWH, please forgive, How does Jacob arise—for he [is] small?”

3 Da ließ es sich Jahwe gereuen. Es soll nicht geschehen! sprach Jahwe.

YHWH has relented of this, “It will not be,” said YHWH.

4 Folgendes ließ mich der Herr Jahwe in einem Gesichte schauen: Der Herr Jahwe befahl, mit Feuer zu strafen. Das fraß die Wasser der großen Tiefe auf; als es aber das Eigentum Jahwes fressen wollte,

Thus has Lord YHWH showed me, and behold, Lord YHWH is calling to contend by the fire, and it consumes the great deep, indeed, it has consumed the portion, and I say,

5 da bat ich: Herr Jahwe, laß doch ab! Wie wird Jakob bestehen können? Er ist ja so gering!

“Lord YHWH, please cease, How does Jacob arise—for he [is] small?”

6 Da ließ es sich Jahwe gereuen. Auch das soll nicht geschehen! sprach Jahwe.

YHWH has relented of this, “It also will not be,” said Lord YHWH.

7 Folgendes ließ mich der Herr Jahwe in einem Gesichte schauen: Der Herr stand da auf einer nach dem Bleilot gebauten Mauer und hielt ein Bleilot in der Hand.

Thus has He showed me, and behold, the Lord is standing by a wall [made according to] a plumb-line, and in His hand a plumb-line;

8 Da sprach Jahwe zu mir: Was schaust du, Amos? Ich antwortete: ein Bleilot. Da sprach der Herr: Fürwahr, ich werde inmitten meines Volkes Israel ein Bleilot anlegen; ich will ihm nicht noch einmal vergeben!

and YHWH says to me, “What are you seeing, Amos?” And I say, “A plumb-line”; and the Lord says: “Behold, I am setting a plumb-line in the midst of My people Israel, I no longer pass over to it.

9 Die Höhen Isaaks sollen verwüstet, und die heiligtümer Israels sollen zerstört werden, und gegen das haus Jerobeams will ich mich mit dem Schwert erheben!

And high places of Isaac have been desolated, And sanctuaries of Israel are dried up, And I have risen against the house of Jeroboam with a sword.”

10 Da ließ Amazja, der Priester von Bethel, Jerobeam, dem Könige von Israel, Folgendes melden: Amos meutert wider dich mitten im Reich Israel; das Land ist nicht im stande, alle seine reden zu ertragen.

And Amaziah priest of Beth-El sends to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel; the land is not able to bear all his words,

11 Denn so hat Amos gesprochen: Durch das Schwert wird Jerobeam sterben, und Israel muß aus seinem Land in die Verbannung wandern!

for thus said Amos: Jeroboam dies by sword, And Israel certainly removes from off its land.”

12 Darauf sprach Amazja zu Amos: Seher, auf! flüchte dich in das Land Juda! Erwirb dir dort dein Brot, und tritt dort als Prophet auf!

And Amaziah says to Amos, “Seer, go, flee to the land of Judah for yourself, and eat bread there, and there you prophesy;

13 Aber in Bethel darfst du fortan nicht als Prophet auftreten; denn dies ist ein königliches Heiligtum und ein Reichstempel!

and no longer prophesy [at] Beth-El anymore, for it [is] the king’s sanctuary, and it [is] the royal house.”

14 Da antwortete Amos und sprach zu Amazja: Ich bin kein Prophet und keiner von der Prophetenzunft, sondern ein Rinderhirt bin ich und züchte Maulbeerfeigen.

And Amos answers and says to Amaziah, “I [am] no prophet, nor [am] I a prophet’s son, but I [am] a herdsman, and a cultivator of sycamores,

15 Aber Jahwe hat mich hinter der Herde weggeholt und Jahwe sprach zu mir: Gehe hin und tritt gegen mein Volk Israel als Prophet auf!

and YHWH takes me from after the flock, and YHWH says to me, Go, prophesy to My people Israel.

16 So höre denn das Wort Jahwes: Du sprichst: Du darfst nicht als Prophet wider Israel auftreten, noch deine rede wider das Haus Isaaks ergießen!

And now, hear a word of YHWH: You are saying, Do not prophesy against Israel, nor drop [anything] against the house of Isaac,

17 Darum spricht Jahwe also: Dein Weib soll in der Stadt zur Hure werden, deine Söhne und deine Töchter aber sollen durchs Schwert fallen. Dein grund und Boden soll mit der Meßschnur verteilt werden, du selbst aber auf unreinem Boden sterben. Und Israel muß aus seinem Land in die verbannung wandern!

therefore, thus said YHWH: Your wife goes whoring in the city, And your sons and your daughters fall by sword, And your land is apportioned by line, And you die on an unclean land, And Israel certainly removes from off its land.”
