Apostelgeschichte 6
1 In diesen Tagen aber entstand bei der Vermehrung der Jünger ein Murren der Hellenisten gegen die Hebräer, weil ihre Witwen bei der täglichen Verpflegung zurückgesetzt wurden.
In those days, when the disciples were increasing in number, there arose a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2 Die Zwölf aber beriefen die Versammlung der Jünger und sprachen: es will uns nicht gefallen, daß wir das Wort Gottes versäumen müssen, um den Tischdienst zu besorgen.
And the twelve called the multitude of the disciples to them, and said: It is not right that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3 Sehet euch doch um, Brüder, nach sieben bewährten Männern aus eurer Mitte, voll von Geist und Weisheit, welche wir für dieses Bedürfnis aufstellen wollen.
Therefore, brethren, select from among yourselves seven men, of good report, full of the Holy Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business:
4 Wir aber wollen beharren im Gebet und Dienst des Wortes.
but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.
5 Und die Rede fand Beifall bei der ganzen Versammlung, und sie wählten Stephanus, einen Mann voll Glaubens und heiligen Geistes, und Philippus und Prochorus, und Nikanor, und Timon, und Parmenas, und Nikolaus einen Proselyten von Antiochien.
And the speech pleased the whole multitude; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip and Prochorus and Nicanor and Timon and Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte of Antioch,
6 Die stellten sie den Aposteln vor, und sie beteten und legten ihnen die Hände auf.
whom they set before the apostles. And when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
7 Und das Wort Gottes breitete sich aus, und die Zahl der Jünger in Jerusalem vermehrte sich stark, und eine große Menge von Priestern unterwarf sich dem Glauben.
And the word of God increased, and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem was greatly multiplied; and a great multitude of the priests became obedient to the faith.
8 Stephanus aber, voll Gnade und Kraft, that Wunder und große Zeichen unter dem Volke.
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.
9 Es standen aber etliche auf von den Mitgliedern der sogenannten Synagoge der Libertiner und Kyrenäer und Alexandriner und derer von Kilikia und Asia, und disputierten mit Stephanus,
Then there arose some who belonged to the synagogue called the synagogue of the Freedmen, and some of the Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and of those who were from Cilicia and Asia, and they disputed with Stephen.
10 und vermochten der Weisheit und dem Geist, womit er sprach, nicht zu widerstehen.
And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit with which he spoke.
11 Da stifteten sie Männer auf, auszusagen: wir haben ihn Lästerworte reden hören auf Moses und Gott.
Then they instigated men to say: We have heard him speak impious words against Moses, and against God.
12 Und sie wiegelten das Volk auf, und die Aeltesten und die Schriftgelehrten, und paßten ihm auf, griffen ihn und schleppten ihn in das Synedrium.
And they excited the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and took him by violence, and brought him into the Sanhedrim.
13 Und stellten falsche Zeugen auf, auszusagen: Dieser Mensch läßt nicht ab, Reden zu führen gegen die heilige Stätte und das Gesetz.
And they brought forward false witnesses, who said: This man ceases not to speak words against this holy place, and the law.
14 Denn wir haben ihn sagen hören: dieser Jesus der Nazoräer wird diese Stätte zerstören, und die Sitten ändern, welche uns Moses gegeben hat.
For we have heard him say, that this Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses delivered to us.
15 Und da sie alle auf ihn blickten, die im Synedrium saßen, sahen sie sein Antlitz wie eines Engels Antlitz.
And all that sat in the Sanhedrim, looking earnestly upon him, saw his face that it was like the face of an angel.
